Corrupt W7 Installation - Error Loading OS Message

Oct 30, 2009

I checked the forums and could not find my specific issue.

The other day, I successfully installed Windows 7 Ultimate (full version, clean install) on my primary "C" partition and everything worked. Now, I believe I have a corrupt OS. When I attempt to boot normally, I receive an "Error loading operating sytem" message. The Windows 7 installation CD is detected, and begins booting, but following the "loading Windows" screen no options are displayed.

Here is what I did to cause this issue:

-I had an old external drive not compatible with Windows 7, so I decided to try and install XP onto a secondary partition.

-In order to create this partition during the installation, I deleted my "E" partition which I had previously locked with BitLocker. I left my "C" partition (System Rese) and "D" partition (with Windows 7) in tact.

-I began installing Windows XP. Upon reboot, I received my first "Operating SYstem Not Deteced" error.

-I tried booting from my WIndows 7 CD to see what was going on, but following the boot from the CD, the installation program stpped running before any options were displayed. This occured after the "Starting windows" message was displayed.

-I tried booting from the Windows XP install CD. This CD boot properly. I deleted the partition I had attempted to install XP on.

-I tried booting normally, and "Operating SYstem Not Deteced"

-I tried booting from the WIndows 7 CD again and "Operating SYstem Not Deteced"

At this point, I am considering loading from the XP CD and deleting all partions with hopes for a fresh Windows 7 installation.

Anything else I should try before deleting my partitions?

Computer Restarts - Event Viewer Shows Kernel Error And Improper Shutdown

Jun 1, 2011

It is win 7 with updates. I built it a little over a year ago. It restarts all by itself. The event viewer shows a kernel error and improper shutdown. It may restart once or maybe twice a day or not at all but It happens too often and started a while back. I have checked temp using Sisoft sandra but its not overheated. The only thing unusual to me was the power supply fan seems to kick in twice. Its done that since it was new. It still does it at times but not always. The Power supply is a Fatality 550 w. The amd processor is low watts and so is the video card. I don't like the idea of replacing stuff just to see if it works. I don't know if ram or memory error could cause something like this?

Each Computer Upon Reboot Displays An Error Message Saying The "updates Failed"

Nov 27, 2012

I have 4 Win 7 computer that will not up-date, Windows shows 21 updates available (all 4 computers show same), upon reboot system says "Updates Failed". Each computer upon reboot dsiplays an error message saying the "updates failed". rinse - repeat. This started with one computer about a month ago, I now have 4 that are doing it. I have scanned with Combofix, Superantispyware, Rkill, Symamtec's Endpoint, eSet on-line, Panda on-line, Malwarebytes, JRT, ADWcleaner, CCleaner, FSS, awsMBR, and tried the MS FIXIT.

I also tried this procedure:

1) Disabled Windows update Service

2) Deleted all files in c:\windows\softwaredistribution\datastore and deleted files in c:\windows\softwaredistribution\download

4) 3) Downloaded and installed the most up to date Windows Update Agent.

5) Restarted Windows Update Agent, made sure Workstation and Background Intelligent Transfer Services were running.

6) Ran the MS Mr. Fixit program to repair update issues.

7) Ran the Windows update. 21 updates to install (as always).

8) Rebooted

9) Guess what, same issue!

I tried this on ALL 4 COMPUTERS I have with this SAME issue, 2 of which are on the same domain, the other two are laptops. ALL 4 FAILED. All four (4) again show the need to receive 21 updates. All 4 were again ran through the update process, all four (4) again failed post re-boot to take the updates (message stated up-dates failed post re-boot)

Installation Error: Setup Cannot Continue Due To A Corrupted Installation File

"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."

Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?

I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.

I have Striker Extreme motherboard, and a wdc wd5000aaks SCSI hard drive (connected via SATA).

Im running Vista Ultimate x64 at the moment. If i use vista's install dvd to see if it finds hdd drive during installation, it does find them. Also if i try to use Windows 7 installer from within Vista, win 7 installer finds my hdd normally.

HdD Error Msg, And Windows Explorer Restarts

Dec 12, 2009

Few weeks old HP PC, Windows7 Home Premium, 64 Bit

Still fighting my problem with Windows Explorer shutting down periodically,

every 1/2 to 1 hour, fixing itself, and restarting. Really annoying to say the least, as the re-starts wipe out a few of the icons in the notification area of the Taskbar at bottom. Takes about a minute or so for the"re-fixing" to be accomplished.

Anyway, some of the error msgs in the Event Log had ATI mentioned.

Thought this might be a problem with my ATI graphics card.

There are two Users on PC, and the other user says he never, ever, gets any of these error messages, so it's hard to see that it's a graphic card problem, as the card, I would think, is active irrespective of the user. True ?

This morning the error message were different.

It said: "the Device detected a Controller error onDeviceHarddisk5DR5"

I will past the error descr. below.

Is this my main PC HD ? I only have one.

But I do use External HD's for backups.

Think the HD is about to quit ?

Have so many error msgs, that I was wondering if there is any way of opening my Event Log (viewer) to all on-line so you experts can have a peek at it? Other than posting one or two descriptions here, posting them all doesn't seem practical.

Any suggestions ?

Computer Restarts Without Warning Every So Often

Aug 4, 2012

I've just moved flat and after I did my computer keeps rebooting itself every so often. There doesn't seem to be any reason to it. I've check that all my fans are still working and that all the cables and cards and what not are corrected install and that something hasn't been knocked but everything seems fine to me. I had a wee gander round the internet and it pointed me to check my system log and the two error codes I'm getting every time this happens is: Event I.D 41 + Event I.D 6008. The I have just recently got a new Graphics card, 4gb extra of ram and a wireless adapter. These were all installed on a clean version of windows 7.

HP Computer Restarts And Freezes

Dec 31, 2011

I bought a HP P6510f PC about 1.5 years ago. In the past month the computer started having problems. The first sign of problems was powering on and the computer would not boot up but instead go to a blank screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner of screen. I ran a diagnostic through the internal software, I believe it's called PC Doctor and all componenets checked out fine - RAM, CPU, Hard Drive, etc. I then decided to reinstall windows 7. After installing the computer started to work like new again, except the next day it restarted itself and went to a black screen. It's done this a few times now. Sometime it boots up fine, other times it gets stuck and won't boot, just a black screen or the HP screen welcome screen with option for setup f10 (though won't respond).

Are there ways I can check for internal malfunctioning hardware?I did go into event viewer and noticed a few errors under System and Application that I have pasted below Critical - Kernel 41 power "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." Error - Event 20 - Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x64-based Systems (KB954430).Also, this shows up as "error" - "The previous system shutdown at 12:37:29 AM on ‎12/‎31/‎2011 was unexpected" [code]
