No Image Of Desktop Icons Same On Taskbar And Start Bottom Not Functioning?
Nov 16, 2011i had my desktop taskbar and start bottom... the problem is no desktop image same on my taskbar... only the tittle i can see on my desktop but still i can access to my program... another things is my start bottom is lock or shall i say not functioning only left click is working but right click nothing happened.... more over its to bad to me i can't access to Internet....

Sep 23, 2012All my desktop icons are missing, no start button or task bar.The only way I can access my computer is via safe mode.Two things happened this morning so I am not sure which one is the culprit. Firstly I had an update from Java.Then I shut my computer down and went to bed.During the night, my UPS board starting beeping. We were having power problems, I think a brown out.The power went out completely then all my other electronics like my tv, kettle, washing machine etc, starting working properly again.So I can't say whether it was the power problem that has caused this or the Java update. I have done a system restore which didn't help. I have done Windows+R and typed in 'explorer.exe"..which only gave me a black screen. I have run all antivirus programs and nothing is being picked up.

Dec 24, 2011I have a Toshiba Satallite with Windows 7 installed. I now have no start button, windows task bar and all of my desktop icons have gone missing.
When I restart the laptop (via CTRL + ALT + DEL) I see all of the missing items listed for about 10 seconds...then they all disappear. What I have left is my personalised background image (my cute 2 month old nephew with my sunglasses) and a windows explorer window. Nothing else.
So far I have managed to access my Virus protection software (AVG) and run a scan. It didn't find anything. I ran my spyware application (Spybot Search and Destroy) again nothing.
what I can do to get my laptop back to a usable state?

Mar 6, 2011I was trying to lock off my external hard disk to everyone aside from my administrator account on my own PC. It seems that in the process I ended up locking it off completely. It now shows up simply as Local Disk - Unlabeled Volume 7, without displaying any information about it, and when I check its properties it shows no information about it,and the Security tab is missing. I tried to take ownership of it using take own from cmd, with administrative privileges enabled and UAC disabled. That gave me an access denied message. How I could access it, or reset the permissions? I'm using Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

My current problem is, the desktop icon is missing from the (I think it is called) the systems tray. It's the "tray" at the bottom of the Window's screen. It was there when I first started Windows but soon after I noticed that it is missing. Is there any way to get the desktop icon back? It made it much easier to get to the desktop from another program.

Oct 27, 2012I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.I use the desktop slideshow feature, directed to a folder in my pictures folder that I named desktop slideshow, I have about 1000 images in there, it's set to change image once every 30 seconds.Here is the problem, I tend to see the same 20 images or so go by over and over, and only once or twice in each loop does a new image show up, eventually I see a great number, but it tends to favor those same 20 or so images predominantly.They don't have similar names, they are widely differing in size, dimensions, and every other aspect. But for some reason the slideshow tends to pick them to go by more than anything else. I removed the images, and it chooses another 20 or 30 seemingly at random to give priority over the rest, only slipping in a random one between those repeated choices once or twice in each loop again.
So here is my question, does anyone know what criteria or method is used to cycle the images in the desktop slideshow? The whole reason I started using it was because I like the idea of seeing any one of a thousand or more pictures on my screen when I close a window, and it's kind of nice to have something I'm working on in my main screen while random art goes by on my second monitor, but with the same images repeated, it sort of loses the appeal.So far my only option has been to remove the over used images after a while and cycle in some of the old ones I removed before. But that's not really all that satisfying a solution.I searched around google, talked to some friends, and generally applied my brain to the issue for a few months without any breakthrough, and decided to seek some info from this forum since it seems to be fairly chocked full of people who have considerable knowledge of the concerned operating system, big surprise considering that is the point of the forum eh?
Desktop Background Images Cannot Be Changed From Solid Colors
Jan 16, 2013Whenever I try to change my desktop background image to "Desktop Harmony", the default Windows 7 background, no error message comes up but it stays the solid color. But when I change solid color to solid color, the result is different. The background changes.
BTW, I recently reinstalled Windows, I think I fixed my driver problem because I restored Windows.old, but I can't seem to get rid of all the errors such as this one.
edit: I tried to delete TranscodedWallpaper.jpg from %USERPROFILE%AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsThemes
but, Windows keeps making the jpg file AGAIN and AGAIN...

Apr 29, 2012Yesterday I was having a problem getting rid of some bugs. I posted the problem in a malware forum on another site and then did all the scans that I was supposed to do. The funny thing is that right after I posted that thread, I found bugs with ad-aware and I was finally able to quarantine and restart.My only problem now is that my folders were locked (My Videos, My Pictures, My Music) possibly from running scans. I am not sure if they were locked from ccleaner or combofix or Mgtools. But they are locked and I seriously need to unlock them.I also have a desktop.ini file that mysteriously popped up after I ran the scans. I am the administrator of this computer. I cannot access certain files like My Videos, My Pictures, and My Music.

Aug 28, 2011I go onto start menu and click on pictures or right click and open, there is a momentary attempt to open but then nothing.I used to be able to click on and get the pictures this way.To get pictures I have to go into my documents and open the left hand list under Libraries.I then click onto pictures,nothing happens until I right click and expand and there is "my pictures" to open up. I have sent" my pictures shortcut "to my desktop as an Icon as a quick way of opening up.When I scan a photo it used to copy it and send it quickly to ( I think Pictures), from here I would always send to my documents as I preferred this.I have noticed that now when finishing the scan and me sending it to file, "the sending" takes time with the words "searching"coming up, before sending the photo on its way.
(1)So is this something to do with Pictures not opening up now on start menu regarding time taken on sending scanned picture, has pictures gone to a different place?
(2)Is it because I am always sending picture to my documents, so it has decided not to open pictures on start menu. ( note I like to tweek under Paint and Paint net via documents)
(3)I have right clicked on start menu into start menu tab under customise it is checked" as display as a link".
Privacy is checked as "Store & display recently opened programs in start menu" &Store & display recently opened items in the Start menu & task bar.

Ctrl-alt-del brings up the option to access the task manger but it fails to display it. safe mode is fine and when I create a new admin account (admin account 2) all is well. is there a way to fix this problem as i have a year old system restore that I dont want to use.
