Windows 7 Lost Desktop Folder?
Jan 6, 2013I cannot save as to my desktop, I am using Windows 7. When I first got the laptop I could, now I can't. Can somebody explain how I can restore this option?

Dec 24, 2011I have a Toshiba Satallite with Windows 7 installed. I now have no start button, windows task bar and all of my desktop icons have gone missing.
When I restart the laptop (via CTRL + ALT + DEL) I see all of the missing items listed for about 10 seconds...then they all disappear. What I have left is my personalised background image (my cute 2 month old nephew with my sunglasses) and a windows explorer window. Nothing else.
So far I have managed to access my Virus protection software (AVG) and run a scan. It didn't find anything. I ran my spyware application (Spybot Search and Destroy) again nothing.
what I can do to get my laptop back to a usable state?

Furthermore, none of the files previously located in that folder were there anymore either, though the folder itself was in its proper location in the file hierarchy. Nov 21, 2012From looking at other computers and on the Internet, it appears that the Contacts folder is supposed to have a customized menu bar with a "New Contact" button, but on this machine the menu looks the same as every other folder. I don't use this folder/app very often, so I can't say exactly when this changed, but the desktop.ini file in this folder has a relatively recent modification date, and contains the following:

May 20, 2011After running all the most current Windows 7 updates, my Windows 7 laptop using Wi-Fi can no longer communicate with shared folders on my desktop XP PC that�s hardwired to my Netgear G router.My XP desktop can still access the folders on the Windows 7 laptop. Both PC�s can access the web. If I run System Restore to an older date everything work just fine.

Oct 2, 2012It's probably my fault since most things are. Yesterday I had trouble sending email. I looked in the add-ins and saw the COM addin for Microsoft Hotmail connector. Well, I couldn't find where to delete it and so I went to c:\Progra~2\common~1\system\msmapi\msncon32.dll and deleted that. I did a bad thing, didn't I? This morning my Personal Folder in Outlook Contacts, is gone.
How can I get it back?
I did a system restore but the Personal Folder in Contacts Outlook 2007 is not there. The add-in is.
