View 7 RepliesI have a folder on my desktop which I used as a temporary location for pictures and videos. Once it was empty I deleted it but every time I open my internet browser it pops up again. I am using Mozilla Firefox and have checked the download settings but this folder is not named in any path that I can see. I also checked WMP but it doesn't appear there either. The only other program I used this folder with was Movavi to convert the video files to MP4 but it's not showing up there either.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen i have a folder opened that points to a folder present on my desktop, and i physically delete the folder on the desktop, the folder's window remains opened & goes back to the desktop folder address.
ex:
C:UsersAdministratorDesktopNew folder opened on the deskbar & vm
C:UsersAdministratorDesktopNew folder deleted on the desktop .. .
C:UsersAdministratorDesktop appears as a folder on my deskbar
Wanted behavior as in previous windows versions: C:UsersAdministratorDesktopNew folder should disappear from the deskbar & vm, too.
so my lil sister brought her laptop (win 7 home premium) over last night saying it was broken. As it turns out windows does not load and it will not do so even in safe mode.
So i decided i would recover the laptop, but first wanted to get her data off the HDD. I have the HDD out and can get everything off of it, except her personal folder where all her documents are stored.
Is there any way for me to gain access to this folder or will i have to run HDD file recovery software to get the data off?
How do i stop my personal folder from being shared? I am not part of a homegroup.Under the advanced tab, sharing is not ticked and the 'share with' is set to nobody.

The favorites from i.e. were mostly held in 20 folders with sub folders then the rest, loose individual sites. The entire list - folders & loose sites now appear in the Private folder config: START > AaLF personal folder > Favorites. But in the firefox browser, I now see only half the folders from i.e. and also not the loose individual sites. How do I get My Personal Folder Favorites into FF's Bookmarks for easy use??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have confusion and perplexity over the optimal folder structure for Windows 7. I make it a standard practice to put My Documents on a separate drive.Windows 7 allows you to move the personal folders to a new location, but in both installs where I've tried this using the documented procedures, the Documents folder disappeared and I had to reinstall WindowsSo the personal folders stay where they are. What to do? Use libraries! I decided to put a folder called My Document Center on D: and make it the default for the Documents Library. That should fix the problem, I thought. Ithasn't.C:UsersUserNameDocuments appears in the Documents library. That's fine. I expect it. This seems to be the personal folder.
I'd expect it to have nothing in it. But it does have quite a bit of stuff, it seems from program installs. That's not fine. I guess programs put stuff there because they don't use the library. Start Menu | UserName takes me to a window that has a "My Documents" folder and a shortcut to a "My Documents" folder, but the shortcut seems to be useless since it tells me I don't have permission to access it, though it indicates I could probably do so through the security tab. That makes me wonder if it is a virtual folder of some sort, though. I'm not sure what its purpose is other than to create confusion. Question 1: Is there a way to redirect all the stuff that's going into the personal Documents folder?
I had accidentally deleted a folder I created in my "my videos" folder and how to get it back or find its contents.

When I look in my root directory, the folder is still there

I'm using windows7 enterprise edition on my Laptop. Accidentally I have removed most of the files inside ProgramData folder.
Now issue is that, DHCP Client Service is not working.
(1) Does DHCP Client really Depends upon any file there?
(2) I have seen that some of the folder have been created inside ProgramData. Can I copy any folder/file from other Laptop (Win7 EE) to my laptop to make this work?
A folder has disappeared from an external hard drive, as confirmed by plugging it into another computer and checking, searching for several filenames it should contain on all possible drives (with hidden files shown), and searches with Recuva and testdisk of deleted files. There is no discrepancy between the size of the remaining folders and the reported size of the folder that contained it along with the remaining folders.
The drive in question is a 2TB WD Mybook external that may be showing its age- another folder had a cyclic redundancy check error, and the folder in question developed one several weeks later. I'm making plans to move my data off and have already duplicated the most important files on it.When the folder developed the CRC error mentioned in the previous paragraph, I ran scandisk. It was after running that utility that I found it had disappeared, so that is the most likely reason. However, the other folder remained (with error unfixed, eventually resolved by using testdisk to copy the folder to another drive.)
I had to do a system restore to a prior point (two days ago) to fix a problem on a windows 7 dell PC. It worked but it moved all of my files and user profile to my C drive. I no longer see my user account when I go to start computer. I did find my files (at least some of them) under the c drive in C/OS/Users. Is there a way to automatically get them all back where they orginally were rather than attempt to manually move them and hope I'm placing them in the correct area? I also seem to have lost all of my bookmarks and cannot recover them on Firefox - is there any way to get them back?

I recently sent my laptop to HP for a fan repair and before I sent it off I accidentally deleted my Downloads folder and then cleared out my recycling bin.Well, I got my laptop back today and went to download a few files. After doing so, I realized that I can't find those downloaded files. I have no idea where those files went. They were .rar and ZIP files and I can't seem to locate them. Does anybody know how I can find those downloaded files (where they might have ended up with the Downloads folder gone) and how I can restore my Downloads folder
