I'm using windows7 enterprise edition on my Laptop. Accidentally I have removed most of the files inside ProgramData folder.
Now issue is that, DHCP Client Service is not working.
(1) Does DHCP Client really Depends upon any file there?
(2) I have seen that some of the folder have been created inside ProgramData. Can I copy any folder/file from other Laptop (Win7 EE) to my laptop to make this work?
Last week I hit an issue whereby I was unable to access the Internet wirelessly even though my laptop could see the router and had a good signal. I tried connecting up via an ethernet cable to no avail.
The issue seems to have started right after a Windows Update but I can't be 100% certain. If I do ipconfig /all I can see that DHCP is not enabled. I know the router is fine because my vista laptop can access wirelessly via the router fine. I tried doing some things I seen in the forum such as ipconfig /renew etc. but it said it couldn't contact the RPC server. I followed this up and was recommended to check the DHCP client service was started. It isn't even there. I was wondering if the update could have removed it.
Someone else who had reported the same issue on this forum was asked to do a system restore. I did this and the service is still not there. I am assuming that the non-existence of the DHCP client is the cause of my issues accessing the Internet.
I was looking over the menus in my router (SBG6580) config page. As of right now I have my netbook and iPhone connected. I found a laptop listed that I do not have:

I selected it and deleted it. Where did it come from. Should I change my router/wireless password?
Probably this error is pretty much a non-issue and I haven't a clue if the affected W7P machine, even runs Windows Server 2008 R2 (or any windows server for that matter).Is this 'server' thing, software that is by default installed (and I'm guessing it's only used when the machine networks with another machine, home/work groups)?As for if and what version the W7P machine even 'runs', the only loosely provided instructions I've found (by clicking the event log's link to information about the error), results in a webpage... Event ID 1001 ..which sort of implies to me that the W7P machine might be running 'Windows Server 2008 R2', if only because the event log error report's link led me to that web page's article, ie; the article says it applies to Windows Server 2008 R2.I tried following the article's mentions of checking to see what version of 'server' that is installed, but step 2 seems too poorly written for me to follow what's actually be said...Determine if there is a network connectivity problem To determine if there is a network connectivity problem between the‚ DHCP‚ server and domain controller: At the DHCP server, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK. What's unclear to me is where it alludes to..."..where server_FQDN is the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the domain controller"...I see the article provides an example, but the example seems as obscure as it's parent reference.How does a user determine the "fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the domain controller"?If that obscurity isn't bad enough, the article then lists a second step "1" stating..."At the command prompt, type ping IP_address, where IP_address is the IP address of the domain controller, and then press ENTER."..and again I haven't a clue as to what's being said, ie; we're not born with a 'domain controller's IP address' tattooed on our forehead, so how's that detail determined?Further down in the article, it lists a step 4 stating..."Type ping IP_address, where IP_address is the IP address assigned to the computer. If you can ping the localhost address but not the local address, there may be an issue with the routing table or with the network adapter driver. " ..and step 5 states..."Type ping DNS_server, where DNS_server is the IP address assigned to the DNS server. If there is more than one DNS server on your network, you should ping each one. If you cannot ping the DNS servers, this indicates a potential problem with the DNS servers, or with the network between the computer and the DNS servers."..and as the article doesn't detail how to determine the machine's 'IP Address' and doesn't detail how to determine 'P address assigned to the DNS server', again I'm left reading an otherwise virtually useless article.

After power on, the DHCP client tries to acquire an IP for all the network cards, even those that are not connected.I can see in the event logs that after 2 minutes from the startup, I get one message for each interfaceQuote: >Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0xMAC_ADDRESS. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server." I have an Astaro VPN client that manifests itself as a network card and when I start it up (manually) it fails to receive an IP from the DHCP server. I believe it is related with this general DHCP problem because if I start it up within two minutes from power on (before I get the message in the event log), then it works.

After rebooting and waiting for me on the login screen, I gave it a hard shutdown to check on the BIOS settings (for a little side project, in the end I did not save any changes). After booting and logging in again, I find that many services are not running. I ran a very thorough check for malware and viruses (took over 24 hours to complete), and still no solutions. I have uninstalled/reinstalled my Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Driver several times.
I now look in the Event Viewer and find that the DHCP Client service is not running! It is set to automatic start in Services.msc, but when I try to manually start it, it gives me error 1075 (some dependencies do not exist or are marked for deletion). Running ipconfig, I notice that my system is using an APIPA-formatted address (169.254.x.x), indicating that the computer couldn't find a DHCP server.
My Event Viewer is peppered with:
Event 7003, Service Control Manager
The DHCP Client service depends the following service: Afd. This service might not be installed.
Event 7001, Service Control Manager
The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service depends on the DHCP CLient service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependcy service does not exist or has been marekd for deletion.
And that keeps repeating many times in a minute (about 30-40 cycles of it).
I deleted the desktop folder in my personal folder and my icons on desktop don t apear anymore now.How can i put it back there?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with offline files created offline syncing back to the server. I have set up a network share to be available offline on a client computer. All files are available offline without issue. Here is the issue however. If I set the folder to work offline any file I create in the folder when it is offline just disappears when the folder comes back online, there are no conflicts or sync failures reported in sync center. If I create a new folder offline the folder does sync back to the server. Any changes made to an existing file are also replicated back to the server once the share is back online. So the issue is only with newly created files when the share is offline. I have not been able to replicate this error on any other file server in our environment, However I have recreated the issue with multiple shares with multiple Win 7 clients on this file server.
Steps taken so far.
- Checked and reset permission levels on the share.
- Recreated new shares from scratch for testing.
- Disabled and enabled offline files on the client computer and cleared the offline cache.
- Check various registry entry settings.
- Disabled cashing on the File server.
- Tested with XP the issue does not exist with XP.
The clients are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. The File server is Server 2003 Standard 32 bit with SP2.
i recently accidentally deleted a game (world of warcraft) instead of a toolbar through uninstall a program, i was going to try to system restore it, but the last system to restore is no where close to the day/time i removed the file. Is there any other way to retrieve the game folder ?

Once it was empty I deleted it but every time I open my internet browser it pops up again. I am using Mozilla Firefox and have checked the download settings but this folder is not named in any path that I can see. I also checked WMP but it doesn't appear there either. The only other program I used this folder with was Movavi to convert the video files to MP4 but it's not showing up there either.

She accidentally deleted an entire folder from her flash drive that had her entire semester of MBA class work. Not realizing that she deleted the folder off her flash drive she emptied her trash bin on her computer. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a user who tells me she deleted her Junk Mail folder from Outlook 2007. She has two e-mail profiles and claims it is missing from both. I won't have access to the computer for a day or so, but I wanted to find a solution beforehand.
I assumed it would be as simple as going to Deleted Items and restoring the folder...but from what I've been reading, that isn't the case, and she shouldn't have been able to delete the folder in the first place.
A folder has disappeared from an external hard drive, as confirmed by plugging it into another computer and checking, searching for several filenames it should contain on all possible drives (with hidden files shown), and searches with Recuva and testdisk of deleted files. There is no discrepancy between the size of the remaining folders and the reported size of the folder that contained it along with the remaining folders.
The drive in question is a 2TB WD Mybook external that may be showing its age- another folder had a cyclic redundancy check error, and the folder in question developed one several weeks later. I'm making plans to move my data off and have already duplicated the most important files on it.When the folder developed the CRC error mentioned in the previous paragraph, I ran scandisk. It was after running that utility that I found it had disappeared, so that is the most likely reason. However, the other folder remained (with error unfixed, eventually resolved by using testdisk to copy the folder to another drive.)
I had to do a system restore to a prior point (two days ago) to fix a problem on a windows 7 dell PC. It worked but it moved all of my files and user profile to my C drive. I no longer see my user account when I go to start computer. I did find my files (at least some of them) under the c drive in C/OS/Users. Is there a way to automatically get them all back where they orginally were rather than attempt to manually move them and hope I'm placing them in the correct area? I also seem to have lost all of my bookmarks and cannot recover them on Firefox - is there any way to get them back?

I recently sent my laptop to HP for a fan repair and before I sent it off I accidentally deleted my Downloads folder and then cleared out my recycling bin.Well, I got my laptop back today and went to download a few files. After doing so, I realized that I can't find those downloaded files. I have no idea where those files went. They were .rar and ZIP files and I can't seem to locate them. Does anybody know how I can find those downloaded files (where they might have ended up with the Downloads folder gone) and how I can restore my Downloads folder
