After Removing Some Malware From A Client's Computer Games Not Working?
Sep 24, 2012
After removing some malware from a client's computer, none of the Windows games will launch. I went to Programs and Features, turned off all games, the turned them on.They are in the menu, but do not launch. No message; nada. No traces in Event Viewer
I've tried everything to get rid of this malware/virus. I've tried over 5+ programs (malwarebytes, spybot S&D, etc...) and they can't seem to find anything. However every time I try to start up chrome or firefox, it keeps sending me back to Also, I've noticed that whenever one of these pages load, my computer tends to slow down, sometimes not letting me open up task manager or even shutting down my computer.I've also tried the instructions online of removing it from my extensions/addons on firefox and chrome, but it always seems to come back once I restart my computer. What do I do?
I'm using windows7 enterprise edition on my Laptop. Accidentally I have removed most of the files inside ProgramData folder.
Now issue is that, DHCP Client Service is not working.
(1) Does DHCP Client really Depends upon any file there?
(2) I have seen that some of the folder have been created inside ProgramData. Can I copy any folder/file from other Laptop (Win7 EE) to my laptop to make this work?
I had a domain on my computer that was restricting me from changing passwords etc on my computer. I removed my computer from the domain but now i have seemed to have lost all the data that was on my computer, inc music and important documents. Can anyone help me recover these?
i just barely got a new computer, that's running 7, and i'm still setting all the different little things to my own liking and i need some help when i go to look at the folders, such as my computer, or the control panel or my documents, all of them, they appear with the address bar and search bar at the top, like a web site page, even complete with a back and forward button, but i severely hate that and was wondering how i change the way the folders appear? i have been all over the net trying to find it but to no avail, i did find it once, but i didn't change it at the time?
I just got my first computer in place i installed win 7 on it and everything went smooth, but then i realized i had by misstake installed the 32bit version..so i checked the SSD, which is the only kind of storage drive i have right now, and for some reason the installation had made an partition called system drive or something on 100mb. the stupid thing is that it was nothing on it?? windows was still on C:? anyway , after many minutes of thinking i decided to just reinstall windows over the old one and so i did. it runned smooth and went perfect, i checked the preferences of my computer and as planned i now had the 64 bit version but 30Gb was lost on my SSD? i discovered that the old windows was still there, in the windows.old folder... i didnt think about much so i'd just pressed delete...
the crash: loud noise came from the computer and it shut off, now i cant get it to work!!!!!when i start it all the lights starts and the fans runs but nohting moreand how do i format the ssd so i can use it when i've fixed the computer!specs:Motherboard: MK Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H Socket 1155, Z68 CPU:Core i5 2500K Graphic: GK EVGA GeForce GTX 570 SC RAM:Corsair 8GB (KIT) DDR3 1600MHz/VENG. On Thursday this week I upgraded my XP machine to Windows 7 (actually created a dual-boot system) and generally I find it to be OK. I have one or two gripes but most I'll get used to. However, one thing that does annoy me rather intensely is that ALL shared folders/drives on our home network show up in 'Computer' view in Windows Explorer - all 45 of them.
I find this particularly irritating and I've been searching the internet for hours for a way of removing them, all with no success. Perhaps I'm not really sure what search term I should use and I recognise I may well be missing some new feature in Windows 7 that is NOT in XP - but I really don't know what.
So, a question please: is there a way of removing those shares from 'Computer' view, i.e. the top level view where all the drives are shown (My Computer in XP)?
Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed. Comes up when submitting a resume request. How do I fix this issue
We have removed a computer from the domain because of some network issues. When we logged in to the computer as a local administrator we've noticed that the user folder of the domain user who was previously logged to that computer was almost empty(except for the appdata folder). When we joined the pc back in the domain the computer made a new profile.Unfortunaly the user did save some documents on his dekstop in the old profile.
So I recently bought a n52te for gaming for my (windows 7) machine. I installed its drivers, plugged it in, worked great I loved it!Then after a reboot, both my regular keyboard (Razer Lycosa Mirror) and the n52te don't work in games only. But its ONLY when using the WASD keys to move around, if I go to chat in game, the keyboard works fine. Just using the WASD keys doesn't work, unless I tap the space bar, that usually makes you up, and if it doesn't make you jump, the WASD keys work again. the other keys on the keyboard, n52te and Lycosa, work such as the c, v, e, q, z, x, and many others.
If your confused, (like me) the WASD keys don't make you move even though they should, until you hit the space bar, then they (WASD keys) work until they get stuck moving me. I then have to press the key that moves me in the direction. ex. stuck going left, I have to hit the D key, then the space bar to be able to move again. But I can type just fine in games. Also this problem only occurs in games, no other applications. It seems to happen where a key is needed to be pressed, but does not type a letter (Flash games, Crysis, Various other games) But it works fine in a browser, or other writing app. to type
I have tried the following all with rebooting in between each try: (not in order) reinstall driversuninstall driversunplug, restart, plug in (let windows find its drivers)use on another comp. (it worked, its NOT the keyboard)use a different keyboard on my comp. This produced the keyboard.Only using one keyboard/input device at a time.
I have got a 64-bit processor and am running home premium 64-it, however i am getting anoyed with some of the old software, and also some games (generaly old ones) not working properly or not starting. I was supplied with a 32 bit version of windows and was wondering whether this software would work if i was running a 32 bit copy of windows or is it the fact that i have a 64 bit processor the thing that makes running the software. I am a bir of a novice at this kind of area but not completly illiterate when it comes to using a computer. Would dual booting be the solution, i don't want to have to wipe the hard drive and would like to keep the 64 bit versions as the main boot. Would insalling on an external hard drive be a good solution.
when i start any game i get a message that executable for FreeCell stopped working and then it says that window will close the program and would try to find a solution for the problem and last i offered to debug or to close the program
My "w,a,s,d,e,spacebar" are not working in Games or applications.I recently used the program joytokey, which I had assigned these keys to a controller. After noticing the problem I deleted joytokey, and the problem still happens.

it is simple, i bought the Sims(TM) medievil through steam, i have windows 7, the latest version, when it installed i tried to run the game, when it went to run the screen would go black and my computer would tell me there were problems trying to run the game, and it happens everytime, i have a LEGAL OS for windows 7, anything i can do? i checked the files and they look fine, but i also am not very proficient in computers.
I just installed my first pc game. It is Call of Duty Black Ops (no, I'm not 12, my nephew is )I changed install path to D:Games (have user folders relocated there, thats about it, no programs ever installed on d data partition.Installation froze and locked up first time. Had to power off to get out.Second time was logged off my admin account by nephew while installing, though the install ran for a long time - should have completed anyways, after installing, it's not showing anywhere: checked box for install desktop shortcut - not there, not showing up under win start> all programs or games.Tried to launch directly from install path folder... blackops.exe ERROR says: "Blinkw32.dll missing...
1) I never installed steam or anything, could that be the problem?(I'm on different pc now, game pc doesn't have internet right now
2) Can't uninstall! Not showing up as installed program. Uninstaller in game directory won't work. There are 2 uninstall.dll ( 1 for each failed install I guess)
2a) Windows didn't recognize as a program install cause no restore point created before (IS This because I changed install path away from C:programs???)In future how do I deal with installing games to d data partition and have system trat as program install? not listed as program, can't uninstall from control panel
2b) HOW DO I REMOVE FAILED INSTALLS (BOTH).Do I just delete or did the installer likely create all kinds of entries in various other locations that would possibly leave HUGE files elsewhere???
First off, I'd like to say that this isn't an overheating issue, because I am able to play Computer intensive games (like Star Craft II) for 4+ hours with no problems, but I can't play certain games for longer than 15-20 minutes. So far it has only happened to me with 3 games:
1. Halo Combat Evolved
2. Assassin's Creed II
3. Brink
If it was only Halo, which is an older game, my guess would be that it is a driver/compatibility issue. But when it happened with Assassin's Creed II and Brink, it totally baffled me as to what could be the problem. Before they shut down, They usually freeze for a second and then the screen goes black and then shuts down(without restart). Brink had the odd case of having it go a bit laggy, and the textures being blurry(not loaded properly) and then freezing>shutdown.because its making me feel insecure as to whether I should get other games, because I'm afraid my laptop will turn off, and I won't be able to play it properly.Oh I'd also like to say that after a shutdown, CS : S gets very buggy for a bit, and then returns to normal, I haven't noticed it on any other games happening though.
We have several remote systems that can all connect fine. I am having an issue with one box. It is a windows 7 home premium machine with netgear wireless nic. When I open mstsc to connect to a remote machine I put in the ip address and click on connect.I receive an immediate failure with the text "This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again...blah blah"I have a server 2008 r2 with Network level authentication enabled. I have 8 other systems that are hardwired, at different geographic locations and all connect fine. I have not made any changes on the server side since this problem seems to be local to this client only. On the client I have made the following changes/observations. I have disabled the firewall, cleared the remote desktop cache, remove the MRU entries from the registry, verified that port 3389 is open via telnet. I have been bashing my head for days trying to figure out why this one box is not working. The problem occurs for every user on the box including the admin.I don't receive the box that prompts for warning if there is a server authentication issue but I think that is because I selected ignore at some point and said yes to continue. I'm not sure where that cache resides to delete that selection.
my computer does not want to play 3D games..and someone said i should get the graphics..my motherbaord is gigabyte...my computer its meccer...it has 1 gig ram
I Recently built my new PC with Gigabyte MB, i used my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 HP OEM and installed it , after 2 months microsoft said that the copy is pirated, while it is installed on my HP Laptop perfectly and i use it, i knew that is because it is OEM and not for the new MB. ok that's not the problem, the problem is after installing of two weeks , when i install any game or big software my PC USES ALL THE MEMORY. the free RAM is Zero. and the computer slows down completely. The question is does windows OEM issue make this. or it is a RAM Problem.? And if it is a RAM Problem does that mean it is damaged or why this happen? Note: I do not use any Overclocking.RAM: 2X2 GB CorsairCPU: Intel I5 2500KHD: 500 GB WD 7200Right now i'm planning to format my PC and use another X86 Copy of Windows.
