I had a domain on my computer that was restricting me from changing passwords etc on my computer. I removed my computer from the domain but now i have seemed to have lost all the data that was on my computer, inc music and important documents.Can anyone help me recover these?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have removed a computer from the domain because of some network issues.When we logged in to the computer as a local administrator we've noticed that the user folder of the domain user who was previously logged to that computer was almost empty(except for the appdata folder).When we joined the pc back in the domain the computer made a new profile.Unfortunaly the user did save some documents on his dekstop in the old profile.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I had an issue with our windows 2000 server and took it off the network. Won't get into that right now. I ended up just setting up a workgroup for the time being until something can be done about the server. Three computers running windows 7 were pulled from the domain and put on the workgroup with no difference to the user profile. The desktop and all local data stayed the same. But for the 4th computer when it left the domain and restarted it had a new local profile and has a new desktop with all the data from the domain profile gone. My question: is it possible to either get a copy of the data from the domain profile, which I don't see under user accounts and can't switch to it as a different user, or to do a system restore to before leaving the domain then copy the data? The biggest issue is the loss of the pst file and a few files on the desktop that were not backed up recently. Is there anything I can do to get that data?

Because of the satellite connection data transmission has a longer than normal latency delay but transfer speeds are not bad (0.5 mps).I can understand that when logging in, a client computer might experience a longer login time as Windows communicates with the domain server to validate credentials.However, after logging in, are there network activities being performed by the client computer with the domain server on a permanent basis that would make the client computer much slower than normal while performing local tasks? Users report that when logged into the domain, their computers slow down significantly even when opening files on their hard disks.It might be that other issues are causing the problem, but I would like to understand better how the client - server relationship works when logged into a domain so that we can test further.

I believe this may be a security issue however I completed an in-place windows 7 upgrade to try and fix the problem but after all of the windows updates, etc the error remains and appears every time the computer is rebooted..[code] The relevant status code says that the "Object already exists" which I think is far more relevant then some memory issue. Do I have to delete some file or registry entry? Or is it a security issue?

From my dos commands, when I do a pathping, I get Rick-PC.mydomain.net and I want to get rid of the domain part of it since no one else has that domain.
We all log in here on our computers not from any domain controller. We share an Internet pipe and a simple file server.
I have tried going in through Computer|Properties|, under computer name - 'Change Settings' under "To rename this computer click Change" [Change], and under [More] where it states a DNS suffix, it is blank.

However when I try join the domain i get the following message:"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "MYDOMAIN"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.If I do a nslookup it resolves the domain controller, as well if i watch the traffic I can only see UDP traffic on that IP, however i can still browse the web from it?
I'm currently developing a new SOE from scratch for the company I currently work for as my first real project I have a few concerns surrounding what should be included and what can actually be achived.When I create the image from PC1 does it copy absolutly everything EG: Computer settings and Product keys? The reason why I ask is if it copies the product key aswell we could be in some serious trouble with the auditors.Branching off from my last question, is there anyway to assign a computer name and issue the pc a domain when the image is loading? View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got my first computer in place i installed win 7 on it and everything went smooth, but then i realized i had by misstake installed the 32bit version..so i checked the SSD, which is the only kind of storage drive i have right now, and for some reason the installation had made an partition called system drive or something on 100mb. the stupid thing is that it was nothing on it?? windows was still on C:? anyway , after many minutes of thinking i decided to just reinstall windows over the old one and so i did. it runned smooth and went perfect, i checked the preferences of my computer and as planned i now had the 64 bit version but 30Gb was lost on my SSD? i discovered that the old windows was still there, in the windows.old folder... i didnt think about much so i'd just pressed delete...

On Thursday this week I upgraded my XP machine to Windows 7 (actually created a dual-boot system) and generally I find it to be OK. I have one or two gripes but most I'll get used to. However, one thing that does annoy me rather intensely is that ALL shared folders/drives on our home network show up in 'Computer' view in Windows Explorer - all 45 of them.
I find this particularly irritating and I've been searching the internet for hours for a way of removing them, all with no success. Perhaps I'm not really sure what search term I should use and I recognise I may well be missing some new feature in Windows 7 that is NOT in XP - but I really don't know what.
So, a question please: is there a way of removing those shares from 'Computer' view, i.e. the top level view where all the drives are shown (My Computer in XP)?

HomeGroup Listener and HomeGroup Provider services are started. My Windows Firewall is enabled. I can connect to \computername of my HomeGroup computers.However, I cannot join the HomeGroup. It says "There is currently no homegroup on your network." View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a newer computer (HP Pavilion Slimline) with Windows 7 and 64bit system. My old hard drive is out of a dead (won't power up) HP Pavilion Slimline Vista 32bit. I pulled the old drive and connected it through a harness and the USB on the new computer. When I open the devices and printers program the old drive is there but when I open the icon all I get is the properties etc. but no way to access any data on the old drive. Do I need a program or is the drive dead? It powers and runs and when it is connected and I open the properties I'm told the old drive is working properly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2TB hard drive which i have partitioned into 3 partitions, (249GB for C:, 1000GB for D: data, 613GB for E: data). Now the 1000GB partition which is filled with data has disappeared from My computer. It happened after installing a dual boot with linux and using the 613GB as unallocated space for the linux partitions, (I have since removed the linux and partitions on the E: 613GB and created a ntfs primary partition again).
I have uploaded a screenshot that you can see that partition is not in my computer and in Disk management it only shows by "Disk 0" and not under volumes. I have tried using 'Diskpart' To assign a drive letter but under 'list volume' nothing appears. I have also done a a partition details which shows no volume, dont know if I am able to merge the partition in anyway or if the partition table that needs to be fixed
