Is Cleaning The Data Necessary For Computer

I recently went through quite a scare with trojans and tracking cookies and google redirects and other things. Through the course of all this I examined my system logs and found some to be seemingly cumbersome. My laptop is about 2 years old and none of the files have been managed, just appended or overwritten. My question is how important is it now that my system has been cleaned and I don't seem to be having issues, should I delete these files and start with a...'clean' slate. state? whatever.

I woke up this morning to find my computer was frozen. So I forced it to restart by holding down the power button. Once it was booting back up I walked away from my pc for an hour and when I came back it just has a message saying "Cleaning up... Do not turn off your computer." It has been like this for over 4 hours.What causes my pc to go through this cleaning up phase and how long does it take?Also is it safe to restart my pc at any point if this takes way to long?

I recently upgraded my motherboard and CPU and attached my existing hard drive. Windows 7 detected all of the new hardware and is running beautifully, but I just want to clean up remnants of old drivers for peace of mind. I already enabled Device Manager to show hidden devices and deleted the unused ones. The boot log, however, still shows a handful of unloaded drivers. I listed a few below.The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275, for example, is no longer present. It doesn't appear in Device Manager, so where else might it be referenced?

I recently got an Asus G74 (great for gaming, by the way) after my old laptop died.the only thing I don't like is how my fingerprints show up on the matte (ruberized plastic) finish on some of the computer. how to legitamately clean it? And is it safe to lightly wipe it down with water? Or how about windex?

I got a second-hand PC with windows 7. I deleted the previous owner's accounts and created new ones called Owner (regular) and Owner-admin (admin access). Since then everything is messed up..The previous owner account still had files in /users/[account name]/ after I deleted the account. I deleted those and they were mostly gone, but some are protected or are recreated on reboot. Even though I always log in as Owner, downloaded files often en up in the previous owner's "My documents/downloads". When I try to copy them into my new "My documents/downloads", I don't have write permission. I can't write into my own user account directories...? I thought I'd recreate the previous owner's account and try to undo it from the inside out, but ended up with a Owner.Carl-VAIO.Carl-VAIO' as well as aOwner.Carl-VAIO' account. I tried to install Thunderbird, but it is so confused about what is what that it won't install. I can't blame it.
After it was already too late I discovered that my computer thinks it is part of a workgroup. I tried to reset this (it's a standalone), but I couldn't - the button remained greyed out no matter what. Not sure if that has anything to do with the problem.What can I do, other than re-install the OS with an installation CD I don't have?

i want to clean up my pc, specifically, reduce my CPU and RAM usage. After some research on fixing my lag issues, i came to the conclusion that i need more personalized help. Sorry if i seem like a lazy git who wants everyone to do the work, but i dnt trust myself to do the job right and not screw up pc to the point of no return. I am no techie, but i know enough to know that my pc needs help. [code] and here's some screenshots of my pc's processes and other stuff from task manager. yeah, sorry for the massive size, i just wanted it all in one file.i knw there some really stupid processes in there, but i have little idea on how to make them not turn on at start up.

I've always cleaned the Thumbnail Cache using CCleaner but after doing some reading I'm a little unclear as to the benefit.
As I understand it if I clean the TC, each time I open a folder it will need to rebuild the thumbnails. I believe this slows things down. Is there a benefit to not cleaning or does the cache keep growing and using up more space?

What I currently use is CCleaner & Advanced System Care. I guess what I'm asking, is there anything that is more on a professional grade? A power scrubber that small businesses would use? I want to clear out unneeded registry files, left over install files, left over stuff from programs I have uninstalled, just ...my technical term is "crap" left on the operating system hard drive. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Seeing as I was having a few problems with recently installed software, I decided to run a system restore, only to find that all of the restore points but one had disappeared (including those I had deliberately created in the past for emergencies). From what I've been reading on the internet, the disappearance of restore points with Windows 7 is a relatively common occurrence, and some forum members have suggested that disc cleaning software like CCleaner and Advanced SystemCare 4 could be responsible.

I have a newer computer (HP Pavilion Slimline) with Windows 7 and 64bit system. My old hard drive is out of a dead (won't power up) HP Pavilion Slimline Vista 32bit. I pulled the old drive and connected it through a harness and the USB on the new computer. When I open the devices and printers program the old drive is there but when I open the icon all I get is the properties etc. but no way to access any data on the old drive. Do I need a program or is the drive dead? It powers and runs and when it is connected and I open the properties I'm told the old drive is working properly.

My computer crashes every time I transfer large amounts of data onto the D drive of my computer. There is no such problem with my C drive.
First detected this problem while I was transferring some data through LAN. This problem occurs even when I am copying data from my C drive to D drive. I was able to copy a 700MB file onto the drive.

I have a 2TB hard drive which i have partitioned into 3 partitions, (249GB for C:, 1000GB for D: data, 613GB for E: data). Now the 1000GB partition which is filled with data has disappeared from My computer. It happened after installing a dual boot with linux and using the 613GB as unallocated space for the linux partitions, (I have since removed the linux and partitions on the E: 613GB and created a ntfs primary partition again).
I have uploaded a screenshot that you can see that partition is not in my computer and in Disk management it only shows by "Disk 0" and not under volumes. I have tried using 'Diskpart' To assign a drive letter but under 'list volume' nothing appears. I have also done a a partition details which shows no volume, dont know if I am able to merge the partition in anyway or if the partition table that needs to be fixed

So I've been using my 64GB ssd as my windows 7 boot drive and i have a 1TB hdd as my data drive. Recently the my computer has begun to freeze up with errors like "explorer.exe" has stopped responding or "windows" has stopped responding and half of the time when i try to boot it says it cant find windows. This has lead me to believe that my ssd is dying despite being only a year old. I need to RMA my ssd but to do that i would be losing my boot drive for weeks. So I thought id try to create a system image so that i can simply put my boot drive on my hdd, but when i try to create the image it says that the image would be 711GB because its including all of my hdd (which contains all my user libraries and downloads). My question is: how do I make windows stop thinking that my hdd is a system drive so that I can create a reasonably sized image, or more generally: how can i easily move my boot drive to my hdd? Also, I've read some posts about using "easyBCD" to accomplish the latter but I'm not sure that's exactly what i need in this situation.

just did a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate on my second pc, all went well apart from it gets to amd data change update new data to dmi then..... stops, it wont budge, i haven't touched anything in the bios or added any new hardwear.When i reboot, same again, went into the bios and made sure i have it set to boot from hard drive first.

forum i have a question. I have a kingston 30 gb ssd i use as my windows drive, and a 750 gb wd hdd for data/game storage. I have heard that you can ghost a file on the data drive into the x86 folder so that all new installs go there and then you still recieve most of the benefits of your ssd w/o clogging it up. I have an amd based system (dont know if that matters or not)

I have a system drive on a workstation which is 1) removable, 2) contains 2 partitions - one for the sytem & data files, one reserved by the os.
I would like to use this drive and it's file data in an external drive case (SATA) connected to my notebook.
Will the notebook handle the external drive properly?

I have Windows 7. My computer keeps crashing I have written down the stop codes, which are all different each time Also keep getting nv7ddmKm.sys.I have scanned the computer with Kapersky and also malwarebytes but both scans are clean.I can be doing anything on the computer when it happens but mainly it is when i am using Adobe CS5 or uploading images onto my computer from Nikon software installed on the computer.
