Cleaning Up Old Drivers?

I recently upgraded my motherboard and CPU and attached my existing hard drive. Windows 7 detected all of the new hardware and is running beautifully, but I just want to clean up remnants of old drivers for peace of mind. I already enabled Device Manager to show hidden devices and deleted the unused ones. The boot log, however, still shows a handful of unloaded drivers. I listed a few below.The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275, for example, is no longer present. It doesn't appear in Device Manager, so where else might it be referenced?

Many of todays PC users have flat screen monitors eg (LCD) keeping in mind some have a coated screen and need special cleaning what do you use to clean your monitor ? and how do you use it ?

I recently went through quite a scare with trojans and tracking cookies and google redirects and other things. Through the course of all this I examined my system logs and found some to be seemingly cumbersome. My laptop is about 2 years old and none of the files have been managed, just appended or overwritten. My question is how important is it now that my system has been cleaned and I don't seem to be having issues, should I delete these files and start with a...'clean' slate. state? whatever.

I recently got an Asus G74 (great for gaming, by the way) after my old laptop died.the only thing I don't like is how my fingerprints show up on the matte (ruberized plastic) finish on some of the computer. how to legitamately clean it? And is it safe to lightly wipe it down with water? Or how about windex?

I got a second-hand PC with windows 7. I deleted the previous owner's accounts and created new ones called Owner (regular) and Owner-admin (admin access). Since then everything is messed up..The previous owner account still had files in /users/[account name]/ after I deleted the account. I deleted those and they were mostly gone, but some are protected or are recreated on reboot. Even though I always log in as Owner, downloaded files often en up in the previous owner's "My documents/downloads". When I try to copy them into my new "My documents/downloads", I don't have write permission. I can't write into my own user account directories...? I thought I'd recreate the previous owner's account and try to undo it from the inside out, but ended up with a Owner.Carl-VAIO.Carl-VAIO' as well as aOwner.Carl-VAIO' account. I tried to install Thunderbird, but it is so confused about what is what that it won't install. I can't blame it.
After it was already too late I discovered that my computer thinks it is part of a workgroup. I tried to reset this (it's a standalone), but I couldn't - the button remained greyed out no matter what. Not sure if that has anything to do with the problem.What can I do, other than re-install the OS with an installation CD I don't have?

i want to clean up my pc, specifically, reduce my CPU and RAM usage. After some research on fixing my lag issues, i came to the conclusion that i need more personalized help. Sorry if i seem like a lazy git who wants everyone to do the work, but i dnt trust myself to do the job right and not screw up pc to the point of no return. I am no techie, but i know enough to know that my pc needs help. [code] and here's some screenshots of my pc's processes and other stuff from task manager. yeah, sorry for the massive size, i just wanted it all in one file.i knw there some really stupid processes in there, but i have little idea on how to make them not turn on at start up.

I've always cleaned the Thumbnail Cache using CCleaner but after doing some reading I'm a little unclear as to the benefit.
As I understand it if I clean the TC, each time I open a folder it will need to rebuild the thumbnails. I believe this slows things down. Is there a benefit to not cleaning or does the cache keep growing and using up more space?

What I currently use is CCleaner & Advanced System Care. I guess what I'm asking, is there anything that is more on a professional grade? A power scrubber that small businesses would use? I want to clear out unneeded registry files, left over install files, left over stuff from programs I have uninstalled, just ...my technical term is "crap" left on the operating system hard drive. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Seeing as I was having a few problems with recently installed software, I decided to run a system restore, only to find that all of the restore points but one had disappeared (including those I had deliberately created in the past for emergencies). From what I've been reading on the internet, the disappearance of restore points with Windows 7 is a relatively common occurrence, and some forum members have suggested that disc cleaning software like CCleaner and Advanced SystemCare 4 could be responsible.

I woke up this morning to find my computer was frozen. So I forced it to restart by holding down the power button. Once it was booting back up I walked away from my pc for an hour and when I came back it just has a message saying "Cleaning up... Do not turn off your computer." It has been like this for over 4 hours.What causes my pc to go through this cleaning up phase and how long does it take?Also is it safe to restart my pc at any point if this takes way to long?

I'm running Windows 7 32 bit and I just noticed that all my drivers for the USB controllers, Audio/Sound devices and the Networking internet (Broadcom Netxtreme Drivers) have all died. They indicate that a Code 39 is the problem. I tried to load some of the drivers but it wouldn't allow them to install. I did a last known configuration attempt, no results. Did a system restore and it gave me an error message saying it didn't restore properly. I am trying to get the drivers online, burn them to a disk and load them. I have no internet access on that PC and the USB ports obviously don't work. I can get drivers on this PC online. Some I can't find. I did the uninstall driver, disable, all the usual for this problem. I am stumped. Any recovery attempts produce nil results. Thanks to Microsoft, I have no installation disc to do a new install or a backup image.

I'm taking a ghosted image to another machine. On the image I have my device drivers set with static IP (e.g. Local Area Connection 1 is the static IP I want). I have two local area connections, 1 and 2, and 1 is what I want it to be while 2 is a default Microsoft IP.I put that image onto another system and after loading it I don't have Local Area Connections 1 and 2 anymore but Local Area Connections 3 and 4. When I first boot, the computer says Device Drivers Successfully Installed.Why am I losing Local Area Connections 1 and 2 and thus creating 3 and 4 which both have default Microsoft IPs? I want to retain the Local Area Connection 1 that has the static IP that I desire.

Having issues with RAID0 array being detected by Windows7 Ultimate x64 as SCSI. Apparently these drivers are the 'default' drivers that install when the RAID array is initialized. There is no option at this point to install other drivers instead.Using DeviceManager, there is an option to 'update drivers', and regardless of the method chosen, even selecting the file for a previously-downloaded set of drivers, Windows7 always comes back with a message of "Windows has determined that the best drivers for your system are already installed". Considering that SCSI drivers are the OLDEST ones out there, and actual SCSI devices are becoming rarer and rarer, how is it that these drivers cannot be replaced with more current and more applicable drivers?

I've recently been having various issues with my pc, among the things I tried to do was update my graphics card driver: found the newest driver crashed madly, and rolled back.What benefits are there in going for the newer ATI Catalyst drivers compared to the one defaulted by windows but which hasn't updated in 3 years. Generally what could have changed? Compatablity? If it works it works. Stablity? Performance? Heat management?Since it takes me 2 hours to download a driver (slow connection) I'm sticking on my Windows 7 default ones: I know they work. It does make me ask though if there is a benefit to upgading after i've got my PC stable again.

Whats the recommended installation procedure for installing drivers for specific hardware from a developers site or using the windows 7 default drivers?
For example when I install my windows 7 x64 Betas it found and installed the drivers for my chipset and everything fine. However browsing my Motherboard manufactures website I see they Drivers for chipset, audio, and other components I can download.
Would you recommend I stick with Microsoft drivers or use the drivers on the developers site?

whether I can replace the Elantech drivers with Synaptics drivers, I have tried adjusting the sensitivity in my Elantech touchpad in my Acer Aspire 5750 but still not comfortable with it.I have tried to use windows7 generic drivers by uninstalling Elantech drivers but when I restart Elantech drivers are installed again. would preferably like to install Synaptics drivers if that's possible but I am not sure whether that will work.

I have a simple question, I recently fresh installed Windows7 and was wondering if I should Install the new mobo drivers from the ASUS site (i have an ASUS P5Q Pro) or should I just keep the current microsoft drives for all the chipsets/lan/etc. The only Thing I installed was the Realtek sound driver. Would there be any advantages to install proper drivers? because right now my computer runs perfectly stable and smooth using the Windows7 ones.

I have a GTS250 made by EVGA. When I installed windows 7, it knew it automatically.
I would prefer to leave it alone, but I am I missing out? Will it perform better with the Drivers from EVGA?
