Install Mobo Drivers Or Keep Win7 Drivers ?

I have a simple question, I recently fresh installed Windows7 and was wondering if I should Install the new mobo drivers from the ASUS site (i have an ASUS P5Q Pro) or should I just keep the current microsoft drives for all the chipsets/lan/etc. The only Thing I installed was the Realtek sound driver. Would there be any advantages to install proper drivers? because right now my computer runs perfectly stable and smooth using the Windows7 ones.

Win7 Raid 0 Drivers For Gigabyte Ga-MA770T Mobo?
I have a GA-MA770T-UD3P Mobo from Gigabyte. I also use a RAID 0 array. I want to load Win 7 64bit Ultimate, but Gigabytes site does not list the Sata Raid Preinstall driver on the site. I dont want to wipe anything unless i am sure it will work. Does Win 7 have raid drivers built in?

Mobo Drivers - MS Or Vendors
If device manager is happy that Windows 7 has managed to find drivers for everything automatically, would the team recommend leaving well alone or going for the mobo vendors drivers?

(I ask because all was well until I installed the Asus Windows 7 drivers for my P5Q...)

Intel MOBO Graphics Adapters (82845G/G*) Drivers
I've been installing (testing) the Win7 beta and RC on older HP business machines with some decent results (I'm running the Win7 64-bit RC on a Athlon64 3500 w/ 4GB RAM and like the speed, stability*).

I chose this particular model (510USDT: 2Ghz P4, 2GB RAM, newer 200GB PATA HDD) for being as Atom-like as I have. When I've run into an issue with drivers for a device I've had some luck using Vista drivers. I have had no luck in finding a driver that will give the hardware acceleration needed for even a decent game of Freecell. Basic functionality is no problem. Any suggestions/hacks/work-arounds would be greatly appreciated.

* I'm dual booting with XP on this box for comparison and I've noticed one issue. I'm using a GeForce 8400GS as a relatively inexpensive solution for DirectX10 requirements. Hulu video looks great in XP but is a litle choppy with Win7.

Qn About Legacy NForce2 - SATA Drivers For NF7-S Mobo
I have an Abit NF7-S mobo (5+ yrs old) that has an nForce2 Ultra 400 + MCP-T chipset. The nvidia site has classified this as legacy, and only has the download for Vista.

Well I usually prefer to install the 'official' drivers, as MS ones seem to be at times problematic from experience. However I went along with installing the ones provided my microsoft update. All components in Device Manager seem to have been installed, and the OS is working without a problem.

But the voice within me still prefers the 'official' vendor software. Would the vista one provided by nvidia work on Windows 7. I use to get a nice small app to control audio in the official release, which I am obviously not getting in the MS trimmed version.

I also have a SATA 150 RAID (Silicon Image Sil 3112A SATA PCI Controller) on the NF7-S which has the same issue as above. All working.. but for that voice.

How To Stop Win7 Using WU Drivers During Install
Finally moving all the main workstations over to Windows 7. In a test run yesterday - I noticed that Windows 7 jumps ahead of me in a big way right after the main desktop appears.

In the Vista/XP days - I would actually get to install my drivers in my preferred installation order. In this install - especially for graphics - before I even got to install my preferred nVidia drivers - I see that Win 7 has already grabbed and installed 195.65 - presumably from Windows Update - which I do not want.

What's the trick (if any) at "first" desktop to get Windows 7 to hold it's horses and let me install what I want?

Cant Find Drivers During The Install Of Win7
I am not sure what my setup should be in the bios stuff:Motherboard: GA-X48-DS5Harddrive: WD1001FALSI dont know what setup I am supposed to use for this Sata setup (AHCI/RAID). And I am very new to this, so those words, I reallly dont know what the mean. I need to know what settings do I use in the bios.

And I also need to know where these drivers are and what media I should use to install them. Last night I was using a cd, but I wasn't sure if I had the right drivers. Also, a lot of guides use floppy disks ( I do not have this outdated technology).

Clean Install To Win7, No Drivers Found
I've been searching for an our or so all over trying to find something that helps me with this problem, but nothing seems to be working. I have an HP dv6780se Pavillion Laptop.

I put a new hard drive in it to restore and the restore disks are working correctly. It will install windows vista, but then when it starts installing all the bloatware the computer restarts and says OS not found.

So, I figured I'd install windows 7 since I was planning on doing it anyway.

My problem now is that I'm wondering since restore disks only install vista and don't finish the other hp stuff that the drivers aren't getting installed for vista...hence when I try and do a clean install of Windows 7 it says no drivers found. Any idea what I can do to get my install going?

How To Stop Win7 From Trying To Install Device Drivers ?
I installed Windows 7 RC. Initially, my HP Officejet J6480 printer did not work (the printer did, but the scanner and fax did not). As recommended on this site, I reinstalled the HP drivers using compatibility mode "Windows Vista" and everything seems to be working fine. However, every time I boot up, Windows 7 trys to reinstall the HP device drivers and after a few minutes, reports failure to do so. Is there some way to shut this off?

The attempt to install the device driver delays my ability to do other things on the computer. I noted a similar post and the suggestion that the user install the "Windows device driver".

However, I am not sure how to get the "Windows device driver". Isn't that what the computer is trying to do when I get the message?

How Can I Test 64-bit Drivers/2nd Win7 Install
I'm currently using Win 7 RC 32-bit on this comp, and am looking to move to 64-bit by the time RTM comes round.

My question is - everything except my scanner has 64-bit drivers. There is this program that included 64-bit compatibility with a large number of scanners, and mine is listed.

Is there anyway I could install a second Windows 7 on a third partition (of this same hard drive), and try the driver with that to check it works? As I understand it you can't test drivers etc. in a VM install.

Clean Install Of Win7 Doesnt Find HD Drivers
Ok, i built a "whitebox" for a friend at work and they wanted to windows 7 64bit. So, i built the machine and have been trying to figure out how to get it to recognize the HD for the past 4 hours... mainly thanks to Samsung for making impossible to find drivers on their website for the Spinpoint F1 HD102UJ 1TB hard drive and i am also having problems finding drivers from the Gigabyte website... Anyway, suggestions? I gone through all the suggestions about checking the BIOS for RAID settings, but there is only 1 drive in this machine.

Furthermore, after trying to find the drivers online for about 2 hours...i ended up reformatting the drive from the utility disk that samsung had on their website..

Reinstalling Win7 On New Mobo With Old Hard Drive
Following the complete and epic death of my old computer (still don't know what died, could have been anything short of the hard drive which I know works fine) I went out and bought a new motherboard, processor, memory, power supply, and graphics.

After fighting with cables all afternoon I finally got the damn thing turning on, only now it won't boot from the lovely boot disc I made for it this afternoon with Windows 7 RC 7100, I believe. I can tell the motherboard to boot from the CD/DVD drive no problem, and it seems to try to do that.

However, it gives me an error message saying a file in the /windows/system or whatever directory is invalid or corrupt, and tells me to reboot and insert my dvd to repair the installation. I'm pretty sure this is due to the hard drive still having the old Windows 7 install I had on there before the death, so I formatted it using my netbook (running XP) and a hard drive enclosure I had handy and tried reinstalling the hard drive and rebooting from the disc.

Same error messages. If I continuously hit ENTER to get past all the "WHOAMG CAN'T FIND FILE OR CORRUPT" messages, I can get the "Starting Windows" screen to pop up for a few seconds, before the error messages start up again. I've redownloaded and reburned the dvd half a dozen times at this point.Does anyone have any idea how the ____ I can get my computer working?

It's my first homebuilt monster, and I've gotten all the stuff plugged in right, it's just a matter of beating Windows 7 and my hard drive into submission.

The case has several fans built in, and as for processor cooling I'm using the stock AMD fan. I'd rather not risk voiding the warranty as it's my first build. Please help; I've been working on this computer since 4 PM EST yesterday (August 14th), and I'm about to tear my hair out.

I've had to live with a net book as my main computer for the past two weeks, and I'm going to gnaw someone's arm off if I can't use my beast soon.EDIT: as an added detail, the error message looks like the messages you get about restarting your computer in safe mode - black screen, white text.

When I enter past the initial error screen that says "This file is corrupt, contact your manufactuer for help", I get the choice to enter the Windows Configurator [EMS], or run the Memory Diagnostic.

Abit Drivers For Win7
I'm having some problems with my motherboard now with Windows 7. It's an Abit motherboard and I'm getting a warning for the action center which states: "Your power management system is missing a driver" and suggest the uGuru 3.1X.

Now is where things get annoying, Abit is shut down and their driver downloads are dead. Even if they were alive, there has not been made any utility for Windows 7 as it weren't out at the time they closed.

So I have a few questions I hope some of you can answer:

- Is it at all vitial to have this driver?

- Is it anywhere I can get one which work with Windows 7?

if none of the above

- Can I somehow force the action center to ignore this "problem"? I hate having unsolved problems poping up there

A little additional question, anyone else having stability problems with the most recent windows messenger client on Windows 7 64bit?

Nvidia Drivers Not Found In Win7
I am having A "HUGE" Issue I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. It installed the window VGA drivers and seems to not even see my Nvidia 9400GT 1GIG card. I have tried installing with the card in then reinstalled windows without the card in and restarted put the card in and the drivers bump'd right in and hide my card? Any help?????

I downloaded them right from Nvidia, and it gave me this here is a pic attached of what it said. This happened with both sets of drivers advised from Nvidia. I tried "191.07 WHQL" and "nv19045_Win7Vista32"...

I have even set them to install in compatibility "vista" mode and restarted into safe mode. Please any help would be amazing. I really love Windows 7 so far and do not want to go back to XP. Is there something I can do in the registry keys or something?
