Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) I've suddenly lost the view options (Large/medium/small icons, List, Detail etc) given by the down arrow at top right. For example, when I click on 'Desktop'>down arrow all I get it a blank 'roll-down' and obviously no choices!
Windows 7 - 64-bit. When I click on Windows Explorer>Desktop etc at top right, there's an down arrow which allows choice of Icons: large/medium etc and List/Details. When I click on the arrow all I get is a blank 'roll-down' and of course no choices.
Why does the shortcut arrow appear on every desktop icon as well as on pictures in my pictures library. What am I doing to make them appear and what is the purpose for them?
I am stuck at a black screen with a white arrow you can move with your mouse. right click does nothing. heres what i tried so far just linking to another forum so its easier to see where i am at. really want to avoid having to reinstall windows.
For some reason it seems that autorun prompts are entirely disabled on my laptop, I'll put in a CD and nothing happens, I plug in a hard drive and nothing happens, etc. I don't get the options window like I did before I did a clean install.I even did a reset of the settings:And that didn't help. I set them all to "Ask me every time", but still, nothing.Once I GET autorun working, is there a way to add an option to the list of choices? I use Media Player Classic for video DVDs, and in XP I actually HAD that on the list - but for some reason it's not there anymore. It just has WMP, VLC, and a couple other ripping programs I have installed. I want to have the option to play my DVDs with MPC - right now I have to keep manually opening MPC and doing it.
I'm using Win 7 x64 on my Desktop computer and just bought Dell KB212-B keyboard to replace the old one. I have this key combination problem when playing PES 2012, then i found out that doesn't work on other apps too! I've tried other arrow key combinations and they worked?Clearly, when i hold together "Up arrow + Left arrow + S" it didn't work, but when i tried another, examples "Up + Right/Down + Left... + S" and it did work!
When I upgraded to Vista I had a folder system which had been developed over many years and had no interest in Vistas pre installed sytem, so I installed my old file system named UserName in C:UsersLoginNameDocumentsUserName. This turned out to be a poor choice. Now I want to move to a new Windows 7 computer which I have had for a few months. I am considering a location that would be more convenient and wonder if C:UserName would be a reasonable choice. Microsoft's choices in Windows 7 and Office 2010 are not appealing to me. I am looking for suggections.
i have Windows 7x64 Pro. The system is less than a year old and sparsely populated and clean.
This morning when I booted up, Windows opened and none of my desktop icons were present. The Start Menu works and I can get to my programs but how do I restore my desktop?
I am running win 7 64bit and all of a sudden all my desktop icons disappeared along with my start menu and my right click function. Ctrl-alt-del brings up the option to access the task manger but it fails to display it. safe mode is fine and when I create a new admin account (admin account 2) all is well. is there a way to fix this problem as i have a year old system restore that I dont want to use. I was hoping to fix my admin account 1 as it has all my settings, programs etc. Can this be fixed and if not is there a way to copy all settings (looks, programs, firefox settings etc) to the admin account 2.
I was watching a video from a unknown website. Then Adobe Flash downloader and a another program opened up. SO i restarted my computer ,and my desktop has no icons. I went to my start and my computer/destop/documents files weren't there. I tryed ctrl+alt+delete i opened up taskmanager and it closes really fast. Also a erro spams my screen- Windows-Delayed Write Failed - "Failed to save components for the files \system32\00002cd4. Tje files is corrupted or unreadable. This erro may be caused by a PC Hardware Probem".
I cannot save as to my desktop, I am using Windows 7. When I first got the laptop I could, now I can't. Can somebody explain how I can restore this option?
I stumbled upon an old XP desktop appearance adjustment in Windows 7 which allowed me to set the spacing between desktop icons, both horizontal and vertical. You could also choose the font and the font size and, most importantly, the icon size. I was delighted. I could order my icons just the way I needed them for my busy desktop. But then my water-cooled processor water pump broke and spilled water in my tower. Hours later, I had an air cooler on the processor and all was right again.I could not remember how I came to that wonderful desktop grid adjustment box.I searched for a long time but have not been able to track it down. So now I wonder if any of you savvy experts could be kind enough to point the way?
Lost My computer icon on the Win 7 desktop. None of the usual solutions are returning it...such as selecting it from the Start Menu to show on desktop or Control Panel to Personalization, or reapplying defaults.
All my desktop icons are missing, no start button or task bar.The only way I can access my computer is via safe mode. Two things happened this morning so I am not sure which one is the culprit. Firstly I had an update from Java. Then I shut my computer down and went to bed.During the night, my UPS board starting beeping. We were having power problems, I think a brown out.The power went out completely then all my other electronics like my tv, kettle, washing machine etc, starting working properly again. So I can't say whether it was the power problem that has caused this or the Java update. I have done a system restore which didn't help. I have done Windows+R and typed in 'explorer.exe"..which only gave me a black screen. I have run all antivirus programs and nothing is being picked up.
OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64. My friend mentioned that he tried to install a Acer webcam driver/application and after restart, the profile is corrupted. We have already agreed to re install the OS. However, I have noticed that under the User folder of that (supposedly, one and only) account, most of the desktop which my friend's data resides are missing. Namely, desktop, documents, etc.
I did set up a connection between my Win 7 x64 laptop & vista x64 desktop where I could access my desktop files from the laptop but no access to laptop from the desktop & I was ok with that. Suddenly a few days back, I lost the connection from the laptop & I don't have any clue to that. I've changed the network types between home & public but it didn't work. What should I do to restore the connection.
I have a Toshiba Satallite with Windows 7 installed. I now have no start button, windows task bar and all of my desktop icons have gone missing.
When I restart the laptop (via CTRL + ALT + DEL) I see all of the missing items listed for about 10 seconds...then they all disappear. What I have left is my personalised background image (my cute 2 month old nephew with my sunglasses) and a windows explorer window. Nothing else.
So far I have managed to access my Virus protection software (AVG) and run a scan. It didn't find anything. I ran my spyware application (Spybot Search and Destroy) again nothing.
what I can do to get my laptop back to a usable state?
I just accidentally changed my settings on my grapics card so that I can no longer see my desktop on the monitor connected to my HTPC. My HTPC has a monitor attached to it and it also has an HDMI out from the graphics card going to an LED TV in another room. I accidentally switched it so that the desktop can only be seen on the other TV in the other room.
All I can see on the monitor is the blank Windows 7 logo (no desktop icons) and I cannot navigate back to my AMD control page to undo this. I tried rebooting but this does not work. This is an issue as I don't have a bluetooth keyboard/mouse that I can use in the other room to control the desktop. How do I reset this? I am using a AMD HD 6750 graphics card.
I am running windows 7 home premium and the getting started shortcut pinned to start menu by default has an arrow for sub menu of programs and now my arrow is missing. I run ccleaner but may have removed the arrow. How do I get the arrow back?
I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again. At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found. One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard. So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then. But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]
My mouse won't activate the slider up arrow and certain buttons on websites e.g. search. How can I use keyboard keys instead? (It does activate the down arrow). Have tried replacing the mouse.
In the "From" column of Windows Live Mail, there is a small green arrow over the envelopes on some emails. What does this represent ? I have tried looking about everywhere else without ANY success~~~
