View 1 RepliesI have found a file named 'Card_content.xml' in my Nokia Memory Card (Fat Volume). When I try to open it with Notepad, it shows 'Access Denied'. I can not open, rename, copy, move, delete this file. I can see the content of this file using 'DiskInternals Linux Reader'. The Properties Dialog shows that this file has an attribute 'RHAX'. R - Read-only, H - Hidden, A - Archive, But what the 'X' denotes for. Please note that Properties Dialog does not have any column named 'Owner'. I am not able to change its attribute using CMD, CHMOD (coreutils) and other utilities. What the 'X' denotes for? How can I set or edit 'X' attribute of a file?

Have deleted files, registry keys etc., but still it pops up on opening Firefox. It does not, however, show when using IE [which I do not use generally but did so as a test]. The only place I have found any reference to this abysmal virus is in the clr.lst file and I am not sure if it is permissible or wise to delete the file or even to edit it since I am not sure of it's purpose.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed an old game R6Vegas2 to c:/games instead of the protected program files (default install location) the game it's self works fine, but it's a mod for this game that uses bat files, teknor6vegas2.exe which then injects it's code into the games .exe so I need to be able to edit the bat file and run it. So far all that happens is the dos cmd window opens and closes within2 seconds nothing else things that I have tried, disabled uac, taken ownership /full control copied a shortcut to the desktop (.bat file) and changed to run as admin all made no difference at all, in win xp it works without all this faffing around

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I was setting up my computer for the first time, I misspelled my user name. When I go to My Computer > Local Disk [C:] > Users, I am unable to change the name of my User file.
I have corrected how the user name appears when logging in, via User Accounts, but this "source" seems un-editable. It appears in several places, when I install new programs etc. and I know that there must be a way to fix this.
How can I change the name of the User file folder?
I have an game file which is exe and was originally developed to use touch screen controls. View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason it seems that autorun prompts are entirely disabled on my laptop, I'll put in a CD and nothing happens, I plug in a hard drive and nothing happens, etc. I don't get the options window like I did before I did a clean install.I even did a reset of the settings:And that didn't help. I set them all to "Ask me every time", but still, nothing.Once I GET autorun working, is there a way to add an option to the list of choices? I use Media Player Classic for video DVDs, and in XP I actually HAD that on the list - but for some reason it's not there anymore. It just has WMP, VLC, and a couple other ripping programs I have installed. I want to have the option to play my DVDs with MPC - right now I have to keep manually opening MPC and doing it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I upgraded to Vista I had a folder system which had been developed over many years and had no interest in Vistas pre installed sytem, so I installed my old file system named UserName in C:UsersLoginNameDocumentsUserName. This turned out to be a poor choice. Now I want to move to a new Windows 7 computer which I have had for a few months. I am considering a location that would be more convenient and wonder if C:UserName would be a reasonable choice. Microsoft's choices in Windows 7 and Office 2010 are not appealing to me. I am looking for suggections.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wonder if on Windows 7 64 bit they did away with the venerable old DOS edit.com or edit.exe (I forget if it was ever an exe file, seems like it was). I know it was there in Windows 7 32 bit.I can't find it anywhere on my new HP dv7 laptop. I can use textpad I guess but for quick and dirty editing of a new file, I found edit to be perfect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI send in cricket match reports to our local paper. Last season I had an XP machine and I used to copy and paste the scoresheets from our website into Word. Here's a typical scoresheetI used to copy the scoresheet and paste it into Word, edit it and send it off as part of the report. The newspaper could also copy and paste it at their end. Fine. Now I have a Win 7 machine and, I may be incorrectly blaming this on the OS, I can copy the scoresheet into Word but I get an uneditable block, looking only vaguely like the scoresheet I copied.I imagine that there is just some "tick" I haven't put in a box somewhere but it would make a massive difference if I could find that box.
View 5 Replies View Relatedis it possible to edit Ctrl+Alt+Del screen "links" and its position?
I would like to add for example "Shut down", "Restart" instead of "Lock this computer", "Switch user", and would like to move it to the right:

If that is impossible, then maybe it is possible to get rid of Ctrl+Alt+Del screen at all and instead of it, like in windows xp, would appear task manager?
I know about MSCONFIG.
the problem is, when you use MSCONFIG to deselect programs from starting up, you force your computer into "Safemode".
I once used a ms command that allowed me to disable enable all programs that start up with windows, other than MSCONFIG.
It did not force my windows into Safemode.
which command is it that allows you to disable programs from starting up with windows,
BESIDES MSCONFIG ? anyone know.?
I posted a query in the Crashes and Debugging section, but I want to change the header text, as it seems to be scaring people away. I am able to edit the main text of the thread but not the header itself. Does anybody know how I can do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI manually wrote 2 DNS adresses, some time ago.
Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter
TCP/IPV4
212.242.40.3
212.242.40.51
-for getting access to a wireless router at the office.
Since then, I haven't been able to delete them, thus not being able to connect to any other wireless networks.
When I try to put in "use automatic DNS server address", then click "ok", it ask me to reboot. -whether I reboot or not, the settings have reverted to the ones above, when I click back in.
If I put in other DNS adresses, it also revertes. If I click on "advanced" and delete the DNS settings / creates new ones (208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220), it also revertes (whether I reboot or not).
I have a 150GB FAT32 External Hard Disk which shows up as 'Local Disk (J:)' in My Computer. I right-clicked it, and renamed it to 'T4 (J:)' but it still shows up as 'Local Disk (J:)'! I tried various names but still it shows up as 'Local Disk (J:)' in My Computer. So I went to 'Disk Management' to try and change the label from there and, what do you know, Disk Partition (J:) shows 'T4 (J:)'It turns out that this could be an 'autorun.inf' problem. I think that the 'autorun.inf' of my ext-HDD has a parameter like 'label=Local Disk' or something similar. But now, the problem is that I can't access 'autorun.inf' at all. No rename, no delete, no edit. I tried changing it's attributes from an elevated command prompt but still no luck. No matter what I try, in the end I get an 'Access is Denied' error. All I want is for my ext-HDD to be labeled as 'T4 (J:)' in My Computer.
