i've notices windows 7 add all sort of new meta data for it's video files.which is cool, but for some reason i cant edit those details. they seems to be locked. How can i Edit video details??
I would like to edit the cover art of video files (especially WMV files). How can I do that? Are there any good editors that can edit the "icon image" of a video file?
I recently obtained a number of large video files. They have several different file types (file extensions). Among those types are:
.AVI .MKV .MPG .MPE .MP4 .WMV
There are other types as well.I'd very much like to perform some simple editing on these files. The most common editing operation is to extract or "split" a large file into several smaller component files. In other words, each of thse large files contain several small files - all strung together. For example, there may be 4 or 5 video clips in each file. Instead of creating one file for each "clip", the person who created these files just concatenated them all together in one file. So, I'd like to "split" each of these clips out of the single file and create a number of separate files - one for each clip.In addition, I would very much like to be able to convert files of one type to another type.I don't know a lot about the attributes of the various file types. I've read about them in Wikipedia and so I know a lttle about the reasons these file types were created and what the various differences are among them. The main reason that I'd like to convert most of these files to a single file type is that I consider it kind of sloppy to leave these files in there original file types.I have used the app Irfanview in the past to perform similar conversions on "still" files such as .JPEG or .GIF files.
1) How easy or difficult is it to convert video files from one type to another?
2) Should I expect to find one app that can do both editing and conversions? Or should I expect to get several different apps - some to convert files and some to edit files?
I have found a file named 'Card_content.xml' in my Nokia Memory Card (Fat Volume). When I try to open it with Notepad, it shows 'Access Denied'. I can not open, rename, copy, move, delete this file. I can see the content of this file using 'DiskInternals Linux Reader'. The Properties Dialog shows that this file has an attribute 'RHAX'. R - Read-only, H - Hidden, A - Archive, But what the 'X' denotes for. Please note that Properties Dialog does not have any column named 'Owner'. I am not able to change its attribute using CMD, CHMOD (coreutils) and other utilities. What the 'X' denotes for? How can I set or edit 'X' attribute of a file?
Have deleted files, registry keys etc., but still it pops up on opening Firefox. It does not, however, show when using IE [which I do not use generally but did so as a test]. The only place I have found any reference to this abysmal virus is in the clr.lst file and I am not sure if it is permissible or wise to delete the file or even to edit it since I am not sure of it's purpose.
I installed an old game R6Vegas2 to c:/games instead of the protected program files (default install location) the game it's self works fine, but it's a mod for this game that uses bat files, teknor6vegas2.exe which then injects it's code into the games .exe so I need to be able to edit the bat file and run it. So far all that happens is the dos cmd window opens and closes within2 seconds nothing else things that I have tried, disabled uac, taken ownership /full control copied a shortcut to the desktop (.bat file) and changed to run as admin all made no difference at all, in win xp it works without all this faffing around
i was dual booting Windows 7 and xp and then i formatted my xp partition, installed a fresh copy of xp and now it automatically loads windows xp, it doesn't show where i use to select the OS to load
my disk is partitioned c drive for Windows 7 and d drive for win xp
I have received an email that file was in .pdf format. I downloaded that file and now it have pages that is scanned from a scanner. It have text in them. How to edit the text in the pdf file.
When I was setting up my computer for the first time, I misspelled my user name. When I go to My Computer > Local Disk [C:] > Users, I am unable to change the name of my User file.
I have corrected how the user name appears when logging in, via User Accounts, but this "source" seems un-editable. It appears in several places, when I install new programs etc. and I know that there must be a way to fix this.
How can I change the name of the User file folder?
I have an game file which is exe and was originally developed to use touch screen controls. Is it possible to amend the cursors in the exe to show mouse pointers?gain apologies if this is not technically related to Windows 7. I have no programming knowledge and just wondered if anyone had any ideas of if it was possible
[code] I get the following error message when trying to view a video file *.asx."Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."Plus, I also get a similar error msg with WMC.However if I select VLC to play the video, it plays just fine. Plus I get the following information. [code] Why can't WMP or WMC play this native MSFT video format?
I recovered files accidentally deleted from my sd card using photorec software. I was specifically looking for a video deleted last night and while looking through I see that what should be in video format are now a bunch of jpg still shots that don't play
I have a video that I can put on U-Tube for friends to view, but can't seem to burn a DVD from it. What is the "magic" software (needed or included in Windows 7) to do this, and what steps are needed?
i'm looking for a software to make me able to add aditional audio to a video file the reason of doing it for me is to add another language to the movies that i watch and also how to delete a movie's soundtrack what software should i use?

So I used Fraps to record some computer gameplay, but now I've run into a bit of a snag. The file (saved as .avi) is 3.93 GB and I cannot open it in WMP, VLC or Sony Vegas to edit it.
All of the other smaller videos, captured both before and after this one, work perfectly fine. All I need to do is be able to open this in either Sony Vegas or even Windows Live Movie Maker so I can split it into smaller parts and edit it.
VLC will open with the file, but will stop after about 1 second. No audio or Video plays. I tried doing some research, and VirtualDub was recommended, but when I tried to open the file in that program I also received errors. Here are some screen shots of the file and errors:
I have a .mkv video file which I cannot rename, move, or delete. Every time I do so this message shows: "The action cannot be completed because the file is open in windows explorer. Close the file and try again." If I try to delete the folder, a similar message pops up saying that a file is in use in another program.
I'm just posting here because there are these video files which the title of the file is different to the 'name' of the file which appears below the icon. Although not the end of the world, it is annoying since when I put the files on my external HDD to play through my PS3 and that shows the title and as they all have the same title I can't tell what I am watching.
When viewing the properties of certain video files, such as .ts, I am not able to see the details of the video file such as audio and video bitrate. Other files such as .avi show fine.I don't know if it's related but I am also not able to view the file extensions on these same files though I can see the extensions on most others. Folder options show I am set to view hidden folders and to show file extensions. It doesn't appear to be a virus problem as I have checked with a number of virus programs and verified they found none.
After finishing a *.m4v Video Download and placing only said File into into my Movie Folder I noticed the File Icon not displaying the usual Windows 7 Video Icon with an embedded Screencap but the actual Poster of the Movie. My question would be either: a) As I like this Idea pretty much I'd like to know how this is beeing done and if it's possible to do this with other files aswell like *.avi, *.mpg, *.m2ts, etc... b) As I hate to have only one file like this I'd like to know how to revert this to the usual Windows 7 Video Icon with an embedded Screencap in case it's not possible with most of the file types.
I have a .MKV file on my computer that I'm unable to delete.
when click on "delete" it shows "Preparing to Recycle" from Discovering items Time remaining: Calculating Items remaining : Calculating speed: Calculating
Hold shift + delete Preparing to delete ... the rest are the same as above
1: everytime i rename the file , = Windows Explorer is not responding 2: click on the .MKV properties, nothing happened.... 3: try to replace with another file with a same name = doesn't work. 4: boot from safe mode, still won't let me delete it 5: it won't let me move the .MKV to other folders as well 6. Cannot take control of it. 7. tried renaming the .mkv extension to .txt no winrar no luck. 8. tried deleting the file containing it no luck.
i am unable to copy a video file, 80% of the file copies correctly and after that i get an error. But i can watch the complete video without any error. I am using Windows7?
