Apr 5, 2011I probably did a dump thing (only the 100,000th in my lifetime!). I backed up my working folders on my XP desktop into a zip file where the options were set to save the relative path of each file. I then extracted the backup zip file to my Win 7 laptop, not remembering that Win 7's folder structure is different than XP's. So I wound up with a new folder on the laptop "Documents and Settings", with all the stuff that was under it. So I was going to open it, move the files from (XP's) My Documents to (Win 7's) Documents. . . but there's just a weeeeeee problem: The Documents and Settings folder is LOCKED!!I have gone to the Security tab under properties and changed the permissions to allow EVERYONE full access, and it still denies me access. I downloaded Unlocker, but it doesn't show up in the menu when I right click the folder, so I have no idea what it's good for/how to use it. I can't delete it because that's not a choice on the menu when you right-click it.BTW, yesterday it had a padlock icon overlay on it. Today it has a shortcut arrow. I also have no idea why it's showing as a shortcut.

Aug 13, 2011My computer was fine last night then this morning I turn it on and the theme setting is locked in the classic view and all my aero settings are greyed out and I can't change anything. I have Windows 7 Home Premium I have Kaspersky internet security anti virus and I don't download illegal music I only download iTunes and better have not gotten a virus from something I paid for. I first checked my security and I'm up todate on it and doesn't show anything. It is an HP with the finger print scanner with ATI Mobility Radeon Premium Graphics and says it supports Microsoft DirectX11.

Nov 10, 2010i use BitLord to download random stuff anyways the Downloads Folder Shows up like this : Now when i open Nero up it shows this Weird thing is if i hover over the folder from normal window it says the Downloads folder is only 800mb (as it is only showing me one item) yet from Nero it says the folder is over 9 Gigs. Oct 18, 2012I have Windows Ultimate (x64).I use the Asus Suite II supplied with my Asus Asus P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 Motherboard (which I like for fan and temperature monitoring) Ai Suite II always loads BUT "on screen" it is messy during loading because a seemingly AI Suite bar sized white artefact appears top left of screen for 10- 20 seconds before disappearing when the AI suite icon appears in the notification tray. Sometimes a white square also appears temporarily.I have noted that if I exit Ai Suite II and reload via the Asus AI suite supplied Shortcut I never get these artefacts AND the suite loads instantaneously (I note however Asus uses AI Suite II.exe via the shortcut but via the Asus installed Task Schedule it open via "AsRoutineController.exe -open"I have also tried unloading AI Suite II and AsRoutineController.exe and loading AsRoutineController.exe and it too loads cleanly and almost instantaneously.
1) Why does Asus use the Task scheduler instead of loading via the normal Windows Startup procedures?
2) Could it be so each can be easily disabled if required) and is that the ONLY reason?
3) what is the -open switch in the command line?
4) Is there ANY good reason why I should not disable the AI Suite II in the Task Scheduler and add it the the Normal Windows Startup applications I use the Free version of Startup Delayer as it has served me wonderfully with my current Win 7 O/S (and my previous XP) in ensuring all desired Notification Tray Icons display EVERY time).
Today I PROVISIONALLY made the change and AI Suite II opens cleanly (as other Startup apps) without temporary white artefacts and with no noted side effects so far. I am nervous however, to make it permanent without advice from knowledgeable Seven Forums members on this subject
Change Name On "users" Folder - Its Locked?
Mar 25, 2011i am selling a laptop to a co-worker but am having troubles changing the user name. This is windows 7 home premium 64 bit. The folders under "users" are the "public" and then my name. I want to change it from my name to their name but it has a lock symbol on the folders icon and I cannot figure out how to do it.I was able to go into user accounts and change the name there, no problem. But the "users" folder will not change also.

If I make a backup image of my entire computer (not just pictures, documents, etc) with 2 sticks of 1GB memory and then I upgrade to 1 stick of 4GB memory, will the backup image still work? or is the backup image also inclusive of the hardware at the time of backup and thus the new hardware would conflict?
I know the simple answer is just backup after the hardware changes, but I was just curious.

I would rather have my own sound and when I searched the web I found a program which opens up the "dll" file to change the sound, "ResHack". When I tested the sound I wanted to use it played but on rebooting my computer it went back to the Windows 7 default sound. Microsoft really bugs.
