If I make a backup image of my entire computer (not just pictures, documents, etc) with 2 sticks of 1GB memory and then I upgrade to 1 stick of 4GB memory, will the backup image still work? or is the backup image also inclusive of the hardware at the time of backup and thus the new hardware would conflict?
I know the simple answer is just backup after the hardware changes, but I was just curious.

View 5 Replies View Related my laptop (Compaq Presario CQ61) contracted a virus that did some heavy damage. So I go into the boot up menu and decide to restore the laptop back to the factory settings, just to be on the safe side so I can start afresh. Now it's on a screen that says 'Factory image recovery preperation' and it's currently copying files to restore the hard drive, but it's froze on 58%.
Last night I did the same thing and left it overnight while I went to bed, and when I woke up this morning it was still froze on 1%.
Edit: The loading bar is still there, but the place where '58%' was has gone. My mouse is moving but very slowly.
Edit: My laptop is very warm and I can't feel or hear the fan... it's going to overheat. I've had to turn it off.
You can change the lock/boot screen on Windows 7 by adding the following key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAuthenticationLogonUIBackground
Add a DWord value to that key of OEMBackground = 1.
Finally, create a JPG < 250k of the correct size for your default resolution named backgroundDefault.jpg and place it in:
C:WindowsSystem32oobeinfoBackgrounds
Now when you lock or boot you will have a customized image.
Have not tried it my self but saw it somewhere, i dont know if this has been posted but im sure a lot of people would be interested.
My father in law has done something to cause the video play screen, with a play arrow, to become a ghost image on his notebook. When at the home screen you can see the icons behind it and they work fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop computer running Windows 7 64-bit. I have had it around 1 month and just today have found it keeps freezing on me. The screen literally freezes on one image and I cannot move the mouse/use the keyboard. The fans are still running inside the PC and I cannot see why this happens.
My specs are:
Intel i7 980X Processor
8GB RAM
1TB HDD
1GB GFX
I was able to fix the d3d problem I was having early it was the drivers of course.
However,I have encountered a new problem, and I am not able to know what the reason might me.
As you can see windows which are white will create a reflection/smudge sort of ghost image on the screen which is also affected in screenshots, so that would rule out the monitor being faulty. [URL] Now there's a couple of different new things.. My new GPU which is a sapphire HD7770 The way that my monitor connects to the GPU which is a VGA cable going into a VGA to DVD-I adapater. And the AMD drivers which is the version 12.11 -beta-

View 2 Replies View Relatedfor the past month i have had an issue where before the log in screen would show, it would be a blank screen with a cursor, that i could move. (It worked normal in safe mode) I normally would just ignore this problem and it seemed to go back to normal after a little while. Well yesterday it didn't go away, so i went online looking for a solution, in safe mode. I've read to disable/enable drivers, re-install drivers, just plenty of things. And the result of all this is that my screen resolution wont go back to normal, and there is a black border around my screen, around a half inch. Also, my computer has been running EXTREME slow lately.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to capture screen flow in video or image on windows 7 64 bits system, with NVidia Quadro 600 graphic card (driver is up to date). I use lib vlc for video capture, or "print screen" button for image capture. When I try to capture a fullscreen opengl application, or a QML application, or WPF application, the captured image is black. It seems that graphic card content can't be acquired. It is the same for each computer which is under windows 7. This manipulation worked on windows XP.
Question:
What are the changes on screen capturing between windows XP and windows 7?
Is there any option to activate in system?
Is there any software which could work (with an API)?
The color that is displayed on my screen does not print out the same. The yellow which should be bright and is bright on the screen comes out as with an orance tint.
