View 4 Replies View Relatedthe newer smart phones have nice powerful processors in them so I was wondering if the DAC (Digital / Analog converters) in these are as good as the ones in a typical LAPTOP computer set up -- bog standard on board sound from a laptop computer -- not high end specialized studio stuff etc.My Galaxy III S phone can play FLAC files and plugging the output into a DECENT set of speakers appears to me to be just as good if not better than the same sound played from the computer - a relatively decent laptop computer (Sony VAIO VPCEH with Intel I5 processor). I tested this by connecting the phone DIRECTLY to the pre-amp with the music on the phone's micro sdhc card. Had I done it via the USB then that might have needed another DAC conversion so the test cases wouldn't have been the same.I use a phone app WINAMP PRO (just like the PC version) so I can use Folders / directories to play the music and it can play FLAC too -- a lot of music phone apps lack this facility which is a shame. I like also the "play by folders" too -- as I have a lot of Audio books -- saves endless tagging and creating playlists / albums. --Just point winamp to the directory / or file and play it.I find also streaming music from the phone to the receiver device seems to work better than messing around with pc software too -- especially on a laptop.Another app here -- OrangeSqueeze in conjunction with SQUEEZEPLAYER -does the job of the logitech squeeze server on the laptop. The phone will stream music from a Network (or any acessible drive) to the player device(s) -- no prob but use the Wifi on the phone --not the DATA content from the phone company !! otherwise your Bank balance will diminish faster than Spain's Economy.
I used to be very sceptical of smartphones --even have some posts on the forum saying I'd never buy them -- however I have to eat my own words -- the latest crop with the latest Android version are incredibly useful now and possibilities seem quite exciting with what you can do with them.Seems to me that we don't need to do much Multi-media streaming from Windows 7 in the future as your phone will handle it. Perhaps Ms is getting this right by gradually withdrawing a lot of multimedia in the standard version of W8.
Was just wondering if any body tried windows 7 boost .. USB and which USB would be best for this.?

When I go to Properties/ReadyBoost on the USB drive, it says "This device cannot be used by ReadyBoost"Then it says "ReadyBoost is not enabled because the service responsible for ReadyBoost (Sysmain) has been turned off on this computer. An administrator can turn the Sysmain service back on"When I searched, including Microsoft website, there is no recognition of the term Sysmain.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst of all:I'm having a Creative Soundmaster Audigy 4 SE 7.1 soundcard and the (according to the Windows update manager) latest driver availabe.I recently installed Windows 7 because I always wanted to know how it was.Everything went fine, the Update Manager automatically installed all the drivers I needed, but now there's a problem with my audio settings.Since I've been switching over to Windows 7 people have told me that I'm very very quiet in Teamspeak or Skype, so I tried to activate the microphone boost in the audio settings. But when I open the settings of my microphone and click the "custom" tab, all I see is "Do not monitor".There's no microphone boost. I heard from some people they had the same problem under Windows Vista and solved it by switching to newer drivers, but alas, it seems I have the newest beta driver for Windows 7.
Is there any other way towards activating the boost or do I just have to wait until Creative releases a Windows 7 beta driver with microphone boost included?I also checked if the problem comes from my headset, but it's working fine under Windows XP with microphone boost enabled. On my HP G50-112NR Notebook, 32bit, I inserted a 16G Verbatim USB flash drive to learn about ReadyBoost. I clicked on "Dedicate this device to ReadyBoost," thinking that I could change my mind later and "undo" it. I can't!! The USB had a few files on it & Properties shows they are still there. Device Manager says the USB is working properly. But when I try to "Open" the drive, the resulting window says it's empty. I have tried clicking "Do not use. . ." but nothing happens. I want to Undo the ReadyBoost "dedication" & restore the USB to normal use. How do I do that? (Unless I receive some good advice, I'm going to Format the USB).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my wireless router from a D-link Di-614 to a Linksys e3000. A buddy of mine recommended it saying he didnt have wifi issues from the top of his house all the way to the basement. I live in a bungalo home, and so the router is on one side of the house, and my Desk and macbook pro is on the otherside. Im getting 4 bars in windows 7, its showing good connectivity, but its constantly disconnecting, even when its stable, its running very slow. When im close to the router is works perfect. I design for a living and am constantly transferring files to clients. So this has become a problem, Im constantly having to unplug my laptop and walk over to the router to send/recieve large files. Any suggestion on what i can do? Could there be something wrong with the router or my laptop ?

I have an Acer Aspire 7745g laptop, 8gb ram, ati 5650m graphics card, and an i5 460M dual core with hyperthreading, clock speed 2.53 ghz and Windows 7 64 bit When playing games like BF3, I notice that the processor is close to 100%, usually between 90% and sometimes going to 100%. I was wondering why Intel Turbo boost never kicks in, it says with turbo boost my cpu can go up to 2.8 ghz, but it always stays at 2.53 whenever I check on the turbo boost monitor

Is it even necessary as my laptop seems to be running fine. I found the latest version (I think) and it seemed to load but when I checked, it didn't show up under Programs and Features.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using this little rinky-dink $9.00 PNY slider drive that my wife bought because she thought it was pretty, well little ole' me has now gone through 4 of the "fastest" flash drives on the market, the Sandisk Cruiser, the OCZ Rally 2, the Corsair Voyager and another larger PNY. None of them rate more than half the speed of this little slider flash drive. I consistently get 30W and 20R on all programs I try to test it with. Other Tests show much higher result too but let's just stick with the R/W for now.BTW, I also tried the Patriot XT Xtreme series but according to the manufacturer's it is not compatible with either Acronis products or Adobe, after hours and hours with tech support and 3 different drive we figured this out. The programs only work right if the drive is unplugged.
