On my HP G50-112NR Notebook, 32bit, I inserted a 16G Verbatim USB flash drive to learn about ReadyBoost. I clicked on "Dedicate this device to ReadyBoost," thinking that I could change my mind later and "undo" it. I can't!! The USB had a few files on it & Properties shows they are still there. Device Manager says the USB is working properly. But when I try to "Open" the drive, the resulting window says it's empty. I have tried clicking "Do not use. . ." but nothing happens. I want to Undo the ReadyBoost "dedication" & restore the USB to normal use. How do I do that? (Unless I receive some good advice, I'm going to Format the USB).
Ive turned it off before, but now not giving me the option. Under general/propertys/readyboost its not giving me do not use devise/dedicate devise/use devise. Its using all my F drive space for readyboost yet tells me because of writer protection it can't be used, so where's my 4 GB's
I've read about how Windows 7 is suppose to actually use readyboost. I have a spare 8GB Microcenter SD card. It's rated class 6.to use this on my computer? Should I go ahead and dedicate the entire 8GB?
I am using this little rinky-dink $9.00 PNY slider drive that my wife bought because she thought it was pretty, well little ole' me has now gone through 4 of the "fastest" flash drives on the market, the Sandisk Cruiser, the OCZ Rally 2, the Corsair Voyager and another larger PNY. None of them rate more than half the speed of this little slider flash drive. I consistently get 30W and 20R on all programs I try to test it with. Other Tests show much higher result too but let's just stick with the R/W for now.BTW, I also tried the Patriot XT Xtreme series but according to the manufacturer's it is not compatible with either Acronis products or Adobe, after hours and hours with tech support and 3 different drive we figured this out. The programs only work right if the drive is unplugged.
I have Windows 7 64 bit and 8 gb ram (the most that the MB will accept. I had a spare 16gb ready boost compatiable USB drive and used it for Ready Boost. Seems a little bit quicker. My question is this: ReabyBoost is addressing 4 GB of the 16gb. I think this is all it is supposed to do. Can I used the remain 12 gb for storage or as a working area for products without compromising Ready boost?
I want to dedicate a SSD for the OS system and locate program files and personal files to another HD. Is there a simple complete tutorial on, setting up, #1 a SSD for the primary drive #2 locating, just the OS on the SSD? The idea is (To save money, speed up and keep an uncluttered OS) purchase a smaller SSD for the OS and use a standard HD for Program files.
I have a question & hope it's not a duplicate... I plan to install Windows 7 64 bit when I get my copy in Oct. I will do a clean install on a virgin hard drive (WD Scorpio) and have seen a number of posts advising to get drivers to hand before starting the install.
My question is ... can a tool such as Drivermax be used now (ie on my current (Win XP Pro 32 bit) set up) to download the drivers I will require when I am on my Win 7 64 bit platform? ie can I tell (eg) Drivermax to not find Win XP 32 bit drivers but to find Win 7 64 bit drivers, even though Drivermax will no doubt detect that the request is coming from a Win XP 32 bit system, if you see what I mean... - does the program default to the OS it detects, or can you override that?
I am getting ready to install Win 7 on to a brand new Vertex 2 SSD to put in to my Samsung NC10 netbook. One thing that I have been reading about is setting BIOS to enable AHCI mode, but the downside is that my BIOS does not have a way for me to set that. I know the unit is capable of it because in older BIOS firmwares you could access hidden settings to change it.Anyway, is there another way for me to enable AHCI after installing Win 7? Also, does anyone else have any other suggestions about settings or do's/don'ts for installing Win 7 on a SSD?
So I have a laptop with 2,2 GB video memory. And ingame only 512mb is used, and as it says on Can You Run It, only 512 mb of dedicated video RAM... how can i make this like.. 1 GB?
Well I read somewhere that my laptop has a video-card connected to the motherboard so I cant replace it with a better one, and since I don't have the money to buy a new computer all-together I thought maybe someone tech-savey kind person could help me make my current video-card work better. Anyway I recently read somewhere that the main reason why my Video-card is so cr@ppy is becuase it has very low dedicated video ram(128mb to be exact) and I think that is extremely low for a laptop bought in 2009, and there should be a way to raise it. i have a samsung r522 laptop with 2.2ghz processor, 4gb ram and a dedicated ati card. i can only use 2.89gb of ram cause of my 32bit windows 7 premium, i want too get the most out of this laptop, would an upgrade too 64bit windows 7 home premium? i do light gaming, msn, skype, internet.so basic question is for the 1.18gb ram is it worth getting 64bit? i have 2 120gb hdd's id install it on the second. also is there any way of getting my os too 64bit without buying the WHOLE Windows 7 again?
I have a multi-account pc that the whole family uses with the following accounts:-
1. Admin 2. Kids 3. Media
I spent ages yesterday setting up GPO (kidslocked.msc) for my kids account and had to go through EACH individual setting. Eventually i got it spot on, but the only problem was that in the event of a problem, i wanted to be able to reset the settings, so that i can setup anything i need. I ended up downloading/running a file from this site:- Where do i get a reset config file from for GPO?
That file has now reset my GPO settings, but it's also cleared the settings i saved for kidslocked.msc too.
Here is what i want to know:-
1. Can i get readymade GPO templates?2. If the answer to question 1 is NO, then how can i multi-select the settings??...i want to enable ALL settings in the Administrative Templates and then simply disable those that i don't want.
I've been through a very singular problem for the last few days.My Windows 7 suddenly become slow to make USB Mass storage devices ready to access, but this happens only the first time I connect them on my computer. If I start the computer and connect the USB Mass storage device (that was recognized a long time ago) it takes almost 1 minute to be ready for use... After that, every USB Mass storage device that I connect to the computer opens almost instantly. If I restart the computer, the same thing happens. I've tried to reinstall drivers, to disable security, looke for a service that controls it, verified the power options and verified every hardware.
made a mistake and i bought PWM (cpu fans/ 4 pin) and when they are plugged into 3 pin they max out. is there a way to lower the voltage for them other then using the bios, plus i dont want to mess with my bios at all.
Alright, I'd like to download and play Skyrim, but the website,"Systemsrequirementslab.com" says my dedicated video RAM is too low to play.I know that the website often tells you that you can't run a game if you have hardware it doesn't recognize, but I checked it out and this time it's right.I checked under the Intel Systems InformationCurrent Graphics Memory (In use): 75mbMaximum Graphics Memory: 1760mb1760mb is well over the recomended amount for the game, so I'm not sure how to let my laptop use it
I currently have a dell Inspiron n7010. I checked to see if I could run Diablo III, and found that I lack the Dedicated Video Ram of 256MB. My current dedicated Video Ram is 64MB. My Graphics card is Intel(r) HD Graphics. After reading several sites, it appears that this graphic card is impossible to upgrade, so I was hoping I might be bale to increase the dedicated ram so I could install Diablo III.My apologies if this has been answered previously. I would gladly read the original thread if someone posts a link to it.
is there a chance or a way that a integrated laptop be a dedicated? my laptop has an intel HD 3000,and in my lappy sticker it says "1760 MB dynamic video memory" what does it mean?is there a way to use all of 1760MB for VRAM?like boosting it to for example 1gb of vram, sorry i dont have knowlegde about intel family T_T.
