Wireless Wont Work When Power Turned On
Feb 27, 2012
i have this problem where the wireless wont work after the power has been turned off and then back on. they use a power box for the main pc, modem and router and turn it off before they go to sleep to save on electricity costs. usually, my fix is to unplug the router, turn the modem off.. turn it back on and the router back on. from time to time the wireless will work after the power has been turned back on, but its either very slow or the connection goes in and out. i'm sick of having to reset everything before i want to use my laptop.

As I started working on it, I seemed to experience very erratic, random issues with the network connectivity. After several reinstallations of Windows 7 and Sony drivers, however, I have identified the pattern. When the laptop is on AC power, connectivity is not a problem. When I'm on battery power, however, the network adapters cease to work and actually completely disappear from Device Manager. The is true even when the battery is fully charged and everything else works normally.I have already tried going into all the power management settings for the laptop itself and for the network adapters and made sure that they are not being shut down when the laptop is running on battery power, and yet the problem persists.

Just wondering, is there a way so that if for example, I have a video folder that is being shared on the network, to continue being shared, even if the computer is turned off? I want to be able to share my files 24/7 but I dont want to keep the computer running all the time. Is there a way to share while in a very low power state?

I have just been given a Fujitsu Lifebook S6540 running windows 7 and on the whole it is fine but it is eating the battery when switched off. Research on the internet has shown that the computer, although seeming to shut down may still be running in the background. I have therefore been into the registry and changed the powerdown after shutdown code to 1 rather than 0 which should ensure a complete shut down. I duly did this and let the computer charge up before shutting down and then left it for a day.It did not make a shred of difference and found half the battery had been use

My laptop is 1 year old and has worked great until a month ago. I was unable to connect to the internet and thru troubleshooting got a "missing network adapter". I have since upgraded the driver. I also purchased Registry cleaner program that supposedly found over 400 registry errors.I found by accident that I was able to connect normally if I turned the PC off by holding the power button. Then restarting, I got a message to start windows normally. When I did, and then it connected to the internet normally. Now, each night if I leave the power connected to the laptop and shut down windows from the Start command it works fine. I do not want to have to leave the power connected. Toshiba tech support is unable to help other that suggesting I return the PC to the "out of the box' status which is totally unacceptable to me.

When I select the power on button nothing happens. I expect the wireless radio to power on.I have tried fixing the winsock. I have run this MS fix at: How to determine and to recover from Winsock2 corruption in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista And I have run this bat file

I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my sister's laptop, and when I was completing the first updates (like 100 of them), the computer gave me blue screen. I turned the computer back on and the internet wouldn't work at all! I reinstalled windows 7 again, and this time I didn't do any updates. I went to the device manager and selected the Atheros AR5007 driver and selected "update". Halfway through, the computer gave me BSOD. I rolled back the driver to previous version and all works well now.

Error: All task bar icons (not them to the right) and all icons in the program listhave turned white, and pressing them leads to nowhere, instead a window asks what programI want to open. This makes navigation quite difficult, because I have to open each program in theprogram file folders. Error occurred this way:Media player vlc ran flawlessly for quite a while, I think it was v.1.11.11.Then suddenly vlc captured all icons that is all icons became vlc icons, and allicons being pressed would open vlc.At that time I was able to uninstall vlc, and all icons were back to normal. Then I used vlc portable for some time, and icons were OK.For some reason I tried to install a vlc nightly build, and again all icons became vlc icons. And this time I couldn't find a way to uninstall the vlc properly. So I found vlc rogram folders here and there and deleted them. That removed vlc, but all icons
now turned white, and didn't work.

My system specs are updated. My power setting quit working a few days ago. No matter were I set sleep mode or power monitor down, it never does. Not sure why? I've performed an sfc/scannow with no errors. Nothing has really changed in my system recently except my vid card driver. I can't say that caused it, but I rolled it back just in case with no change.

Brand new PC. Windows 7, 64 bit. Power options worked till I downloaded "Web Shots", then they stopped working. (I've used this program for years with no problems and would really like to contiune using it.) After about 45 seconds of downtime, PC goes to sleep and requires a password when you wake it up. No matter what power options I change or put in, the PC continues to have this problem.

I have been driving myself crazy the past few hours trying to iron out this little issue of mine to no avail. I have a logitech wave wireless kb/m combo on one of my machines that has been working until today. I had moved the computer to another room and in doing so had unplugged everything. I noticed after startup that windows automatic driver update kicked in and as I moved the mouse over to see what it was trying to update my keyboard and mouse both ceased to function. I'm not very savvy in the ways of the driver and at this point in time I only have a wired mouse working on my machine (no wired keyboard available). I should point out that this happened both with the front panel usb ports as well as the on board ports. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall the pair but it was no good. I thought perhaps I could get around this issue and try to turn off automatic update if i rolled the computer back a day and went into safe mode to work it out but the computer just updates the drivers there as well.

I just finished building a new PC and installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit today.I have an ASUS Wireless PCI Express Adapter (PCE-N13 802.11 b/g/n). DSL, with a Linksys rounter. Theres just a red X mark on the taskbar and it won't show any open connections =/. I have several wireless devices that work even outside the range which is about maybe 5 meters away from the router. Its pretty much impossible for me to run a wired connection to my PC and need to have a wireless one since theres many tables/couches/chairs inbetween the router and my new PC.

I recently re-installed Windows 7 to my new SSD. Now my Wireless Adapter wont work. It's a "Netopia 3D Reach (ter/gusb-n1)" adapter (usb). The drivers that i came across all say that this adapter only goes up to vista, which doesnt make sense because it worked perfectly before i reinstalled my OS. What's wrong? If you find any kind of Window 7 driver

I have a HP G71-329WM running Windows 7 and I believe it recently updated windows via windows update. I attempted to turn on my computer and it would not boot, freezing on the start up screen. I managed to resolve this initial problem by going through safe mode and doing a system restore to a previous state. However, the laptop now boots up but does not recognize any networks and the wireless adapter cannot be recognised, meaning it only connections VIA ethernet cable. I have tried re-installing the drivers for the wireless adapter but this has not resolved the issue. Short of re-formatting (which I really don't want to do) I'm lost for how this can be resolved.
