Windows 7 Keyboard Shortcut For Increasing / Decreasing Volume
May 8, 2012
I've searched everywhere, including (when you click F1) in windows 7. I need a keyboard shortcut for increasing and decreasing volume, and I don't mean when playing a video or something, I mean the "general" one. (Not in Media Player)
i have a htpc at home, hooked up to a 1080p tv at 1920x1080. because i sit 10 feet from my tv, i needed to increase the text dpi to 150% so i can see what's on the screen. however, i found that increasing the dpi is just simply reducing the screen resolution to 1280x720, and then enlarged to 1920x1080 so everything is bigger. i know this is true because many program state that as my resolution. full screen Internet videos automatically go to 720p instead of 1080p (unless i disable dpi scaling for chrome, which makes my text small again). there is a dramatic decrease in detail (1080 -> 720) when watching blu-rays with 150% dpi because the resolution is lowered by dpi scaling. pictures in browsers are enlarged and not shown at the original resolution.dpi scaling is pointless if it just reduces resolution. is there a fix for this, or is dpi scaling just this poorly implemented in windows 7?
so i have a blue yeti, and i'm an online animator/voice actor. whenever i record audio on my blue yeti (or any other mic) i record about 4-6 inches from the mic, and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as i yell or whatever. this is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted. however, afterwards, it means i have really quite recordings. not a problem right? now that it's recorded right, i can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right? wrong. i'm not an audio expert so i must be missing something. but why in gods name would the audio distort and peak after it's recorded successfully? it's all there, it's all clean audio. if i turn the volume on my speakers all the way up it sounds crystal clear! all i want to do is do that inside the computer so that when i upload it to Internet people don't have to turn their speakers so far up. but if i increase the clips volume in the computer, it distorts! it sounds awful! why?! i tried in sony acid and audacity and they both do the same thing! i can take sound effects, and recordings made by other producers and crank them up nice and loud, but mine just fall apart!
My mic is at 100% and it is working perfectly fine and everyone can hear me. However, at night time I have to talk really quiet or else my parents will wake up and get very mad. Talking this quiet however, nobody can hear me.
Is there some way or some program that can increase the mic volume over 100% so I can talk quietly at night time and the people I'm talking to can hear me?
If bring it down to zero and it will immediately bring it back to 100%. It's like the system doesn't want to play any content below full volume.I first thought it was my mouse or keyboard, but I unplugged both of them but to no avail. I am at a loss as to what I should be doing. I can't play content at full volume, especially since I use headphones almost exclusively.[CODE]
I bought a new Philips SHP 2000. Decent headphone but no option to control the volume. Anyway, while watching movies I can use VLC or MPCStar to increase the volume beyond 100%. But for mp3, I usually go for WMP and the sound, obviously, is too low. Same way, while gaming the sound is too low even if I put it at 100% in game settings. The speaker icon in taskbar shows 100%.
I just received a new keyboard today: Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate. I went from a Logitech G15.
First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.
A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CS36GJ laptop. I upgraded it from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit). Now, my AV Mode and other shortcut buttons for volume, camera, etc. are not working. What driver should I download and install?
I have a microsoft keyboard with multimedia keys. I have assigned one of the multimedia keys to the Instant Viewer feature from Intellitype Pro. I like this feature and think it would be more useful to put it on the mouse button but I have searched and cannot find any .exe for the Instant Viewer to create a program shortcut. I was thinking I could get around this by creating a shortcut to the multimedia key instead and then assigning that shortcut to the mouse. This is not the same as pressing Alt + Tab or Ctrl + Alt + Tab. The Intellitype Instant viewer covers the whole screen when activated while Alt + Tab just gives you a thin horizontal strip in the middle.
I assigned a new shortcut on desktop to shutdown my pc and assigned a keyboad shortcut ctrl + alt + f12. The shortcut always works properly if i double click on the shortcut icon but doesn't always work when pressing ctrl+alt+f12. Can someone explain why is this happening ?
I was wondering if it was possible to modify one of the Windows shortcuts that comes with the program. I haven't been able to find a good answer yet. Basically I just wanted to switch the commands ctrl+N and ctrl+shift+N in Explorer. Is this possible
I want to program a keyboard shortcut for the "Next desktop background" option. I do not want to use a 3rd party wallpaper changer app..The registry keys for desktop background slide show settings are: [code]
I would love it, if I could assign a button to my keyboard that would take the currently highlighted window, and move to it screen 1, 2 or 3 in it's exact current size and position..
Anyone know if that is possible? I know you can move them 1 screen at a time, but I'd like to be able to just hit a single key or shortcut.
I like to use keyboard shortcuts to start programs running. I assigned Ctrl+Alt+F to open Firefox (pinned to the Start Menu), but it would not work. I can use Ctrl+Shift+F and the shortcut works. Normally, I would assume that Ctrl+Alt+F conflicts with one already in use, but pressing that key combination, nothing happens. Is there a way to determine what keyboard shortcuts are assigned and which are available?
First af all, hi all, i'm new to the forum. I found it out couse i'm using windows 7 right now (well, i haven't any particular file on my desktop so nothing to loose) and i'm searching a few things to improve my (till now really good) experience with this os.
Now the little problem: i'm searching for a keyboard shortcut to switch through windows with aero peek (x-ray vision) just like i do with flip3d, is that possible?
The only thing i found near to what i'm searching is the shortcut to switch through active elements that is like moving the mouse over icons of pinned-apps, that is not the same.
Aero peek has many useful features but, compared to my standard work, it takes me too long to move mouse on an icon, wait for preview to show, than move again mouse on previews of different windows of the same app.
I'm trying to find out if there is a keyboard shortcut to move focus to the Address toolbar when it is added to the taskbar. (Again, this is the address bar in the taskbar, not the address bar in an explorer or browser window for which ALT+D is the shortcut.) I've searched Microsoft's list of Keyboard shortcuts, but did not find any information. And my Google searches have not found anything.
How do "I accept the license terms" with a keyboard stroke 'cause usually you normally have to click it with a mouse to tick it but I only have a keyboard (no mouse) and I need to install windows 7
I cannot control the volume on my laptop using the volume buttons on the keyboard. The only one that works is the mute button. How do I get those to work? (the laptop is new)
I've been playing some games and every time I press the mute, decrease and increase volumes always disconnects me from the games or bring me out of the game like Alt + F4. It use to be fine, but I think the reason is, because of the volume display bar pops up. Is there a way to remove it or you can solve my problem without removing it?
[SOLVED] I went to Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts > Change User Account Control settings and set it to the second notch.
Anybody know a native keyboard shortcut that will hide/unhide the Navigation Pane in Explorer? Something like how Alt + P works to hide/unhide the Preview Pane?I have a netbook and sometimes I need more horizontal space so its nice to hide the navigation pane temporarily.
I encounter a problem recently. My keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+[left/right] arrow key doesn't work in any of my editors like: Microsoft word 2007; Microsoft wordpad; Open office writer and Abiword - I use this key combination for move between words in my word processors. Because of this problem is general in all of my editors I think this is not a software specific issue and belongs to my Win 7.
within the last week - I installed a fresh copy of Win 7 x64 SP1 on a new office workstation. I am using the Logitech K800 keyboard and J.River Media Center for media playback.
NOTE: I am using the Gigabyte EP45-UD3R motherboard and it's onboard Realtek Azalia HD audio chip. I am NOT using the Realtek drivers (more on that in a moment) - I am using the built in Windows 7 HD Audio drivers.
Long story short - I discovered some conflicts with the internals of the motherboard where the front panel headphone jack of my case (Antec P182) would exhibit static in the phones if moving the mouse on screen. Traced that to some weird issue with the USB ports so I had to install a separate front panel insert into the case and attached JUST the audio cable so I could get static free headphone listening.
Now the issue. When using J.River Media Center (and WASAPI Event Style from within Media Center) and I select "speakers" under it's Device Output area - I am able to use the Mute, Volume Up and Volume Down hot keys on the K800 to control the audio level that comes from the speakers.
But - if I change the Device Output to Headphones - using the exact same audio device - suddenly the three audio buttons (upper right of the keyboard by the Calculator button) suddenly do not work.
Couple things - I cannot recall in any previous build whether or not these button were working or not OR if I just decided to try them for the first time with headphones. I don't use headphones often with this machine but when I did in the past...volume seemed fine...just can't remember if I ever attempted to control it via keyboard
Also - when wrangling with that static issue in the headphone jack...I did install the actual Realtek drivers for 10 minutes to see if it would make a difference. It did not. Knowing the history of the Realtek crap and how one can never uninstall it correctly - I am wondering if I now have a conflict with old drivers, old registry entries or something else that might be contributing to this issue.
I enabled PC Tablet Support in the windows features section of windows 7, but i still can't get windows to pop up that on screen keyboard icon that usually displays next to any type of data input fields. My windows is NOT installed on a tablet pc, but i recently connected a touch screen to my desktop and am hoping to get the same sort of functionality like my tablet edition of xp had.
as described I use a Logitech G510 keyboard with multimedia keys and the posibility to insert a headset into it (the keyboard got its own soundcard). The keyboard also got a volume wheel which worked with Vista like it should: I could controle the speaker's volume by the keyboard.
Now with Win 7 I can't use the wheel anymore, even with the latest drivers.

I am wondering why my Harddisk space on windows 7 keeps decreasing. From 30 Gb of free space to 13Gb. As i had 2 partition. All my downloads are in my second partition while i only store applications like games in the first. However i did not download anything but my free space in the first partition kept decreasing. I tried turning off system restore but only about 1Gb was restored. Is this some system settings with windows 7?
After installing a skin pack from called simplfy,I used a restore point that i created before installing the skin pack ill call it restore point A. i installed the skin pack again and then used system restore to restore to the same point (restore point A) without undoing the last restore which was restore point A. Earlier this morning I tried to save a text file and it said disk space was low.I know that wasn't correct a text file shouldnt exceed 14.75gb.So I checked the disk and it said 0 kb free. Restarted Computer opened defraggler (I didnt do anything with defragler I only used it to look at the graph) and ccleaner (I ran the file cleaner and the registry cleaner which cleared only 299mb) and I noticed that the space was returning back to normal at about 150 mb/sec. After about 6 hours the problem returned and now I'm posting this.
i seriously cannot understand why the c drive space keeps on decreasing, i have a windows 7 64 bit installed on my laptop and the only major software package installed on it is the adobe cs5 master collection, i use ccleaner and disk clean up regularly and also clean the adobe cache files, but still the space is decreasing just a few weeks back the disk had 77 gb of free space and now its down to 70 -my surfing is a lot and i use any video converter and Internet downloader as well due to my multimedia studies, i cannot understand why is the space decreasing so despite maintenance can anyone help me please
