Nov 19, 2010My Windows XP reads a 1GB Kingston Flash Drive but my Windows 7 doesn't.
I have scanned it and formatted the Flash Dive but nothing works.

Jun 9, 2012My laptop have DVDRamGT30L HP My computer runs on Window 7 home premium and I use Cyberlink power 2 go for image and burning. I'm from India and recently we has religious function at home. As this was a personal religious event we took service of professional photographer who shoot the event using his digital camera and converted it to image on his computer. he burned image on DVD . I can play DVD on traditional DVD player Though the disk is full my computer drive recognize it as blank DVD. There are total 41 DVDs and some of the DVDs are recognized and can be played on computer. My DVD writer (on PC)is in good condition. The DVD which shows blank on my computer is shown full on photographe's computer.Unfortunately he could only told me that he has transfered this event from his camera disk to computer using some new HD technology. According to him some configuration changes required on my computer. His computer also run on window 7. Also same photographer did this same event recording for me three years ago and all these DVDs play well on my computer?

Found out that if I first transfer them to Windows Live Mail then to Thunderbird it would be easier. I saved the Outlook Express Folder from my old computer, which is long gone, to a travel drive. Now I'm trying to import them to WLM, but it won't do it. I found out I need to uncheck "read" under properties. I've tried and tried that, but every time it reverts right back to having it checked.

But in before one week it does not read any cd or dvd (which burn by that writer) .when i insert a cd or dvd it start and when i go to windows explorer it display (in win 7) progress bar that it is reading.After complete the progress bar when i click on dvd rom icon and click open then dvd or cv will eject and display error message insert disc to rom .(i have used this writter 18 months ,but not hardly used)

Apr 25, 2011I have Win 7 home premium on an HP laptop with 4 usb ports. I have 2 Western Digital Elements 1.5 TB drives for backups. If I plug in one of the drives, Win assigns a drive letter, but if I add the second one it doesn't.
To troubleshoot, I've plugged each drive into every usb port on the laptop, and each port reads each drive alone, but if I plug in the second drive while the first is still in, it shoes up in devices but does not get a drive letter. I tried assigning a different drive letter to the device plugged in first, but Win still doesn't assign a letter to the second drive.

May 14, 2011i used to burn my movies on *** dvd but when i tried to do so as usual this message appears"windows can't read the disc in drive e .make sure that the disc in *** format that windows can recognize.if not formate the disc first" there is no format option and i used to use this type of dvds and it usually works and when i but *** dvd that i was burn before, windows read it easy but not the blank dvds of the same type.

- execute regedit

- delete Upperfilter and lowerfilter entries.
- Reboot your system.
there was no upper-filter or lower filters to delete, i have also had a look in properties and it says the dvd drive is working fine,iv tried to uninstall it and restart still have the same problem?
Dvd Drive Fails To Read Or Write Under Windows 7
Dec 1, 2011I have 2 drives (connected one at a time to try and sort this issue) SONY AD-7260S and a LITE-ON
Now from upgarding to XP to 7 I had no issues until now... When inserting Disc (Blank or Data Files) the DVD Drive will hang and not ask what to do with the Disk and when I try to Burn the disc it will say cannot write to drive or just sit there doing nothing
Both these drives worked flawlessly with XP and only way to get the drive to recognise half the time with Windows 7 is to restart PC to either get it to show in Device Manager or press eject when booting to get the disk inside out.
Both drives are Sata and are only a few months old (not burned much and work exceeelnet on another xp machine)

Dec 30, 2011Ubuntu kills comp, grub reset screen only shows I partitioned my external harddrive via ubuntu to run ubuntu. Back on windows, my harddrive isn't read in my computer but it shows in device manager. How can i access this?

Sep 19, 2012I have a 1.5TB Seagate ext HD that is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT), this was formatted on my iMac. The Mac internal HD has completely crashed. I attached the ext HD to my Toshiba Satellite laptop, the ext HD does not show in the drive list. It does show in the device manager. It also shows as working properly in the properties menu I need files from this drive. How do I get my Windows 7 system to read the ext usb drive?

Dec 20, 2012I am trying to install Windows 7 onto my laptop as I want to do a clean install to wipe off everything and have windows freshly put on. My cd/dvd drive cannot read the disc. You can here the drive attempting to load up the disc but to know success. I have tried Microsoft Fix, does not work (however, it has in the past as well as booting from disc at startup-that too has worked in the past), I have tried booting from the cd/dvd drive on bootup, I have attempted to go into the registry and delete lowers installers I think its called (I didnt do this on previously installation attempts and I installed fine). I have all correct drivers according to my laptop, plus I've gone into the packard bell website to download the correct drivers and I have used windows update too in case I am missing anything. Nothing is working.

Then my desktop PC displayed messages telling me my firewall and virus software had been turned off and the computer crashed. ROOTKIT? So I was left with 2 drives not working. I re installed windows on desktop but using ISO on flash drive BUT can't on the 500GB Hitachi HTS545050B9SA00 for some reason. Windows setup loaded and Deleted old partitions and formatted. When I tried to install, it froze. It now just boots up with a windows loading screen and I'm also unable to boot from flash drive as it freezes. This is on a Sony Vaio VPCEB4E4E.

Jun 29, 2012My Optiarc DVD RW AD-7203A drive refuses to recognize any sort of media I put within it. I am unsure of when this problem occured (because I rarely use the drive, which begs the question of how in the world can it stop working), but I do know that nothing I have tried has helped me.I've tried all of the following:Editing the registry to no avail because the "Lower Filters" key is not present, therefore the kb article is of no use.Uninstalling/reinstalling the drive Changing the Start key in the registry to "3" Formatting the entire machine and restoring to factory settings The thing is, whenever I enter the Device Manager to check on the drive, it keeps saying it's working perfectly/drivers are up-to-date/blah blah blah. I've tried searching everywhere but to no avail, and I may soon just take a hammer to it and be done with this crap.However, I am hoping that you mates can help me before rage takes over and I smash this thing to bits! Oct 31, 2011Recently my DVD burner does not see any DVDs on my computer that I built a couple of months ago. It does not see Movies, Games(that are DVD), Blank DVD-R or DVD-R that I have written information to. I have put in a few different CDs(Game, Audio and Data) and they do get recognized by the drive. My problems all started when I was writing to a Blank DVD. While it was burning, the burn process failed about midway through. After that happened, my problems with the drive not recognizing the DVDs started.
I had done a system restore to an earlier restore point before I had the problems with the drive, but that did not help. So, I undid the system restore. I have also tried uninstalling the drive from the Device Manager and restarted, but that also did not work.
The computer is running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The model of the DVD burner is a LiteOn iHAS524-T98 B. The Manufacture Date of the drive is April 2011, so it's not that old of a drive.

Location 0 (Channel 1, Target 0, Lun 0)
in physically looking at the MB, I see that the SATA cable for the 542 is in the 3 position (facing the MB looking down), but is there a way to determine which drive is C: and what is D: (the 542 is being assigned F:, and the CD/DVD is E.
USB Flash Drive Does Not Read?
Aug 8, 2011If I plug my flash drive into my PC using Windows XP, it works fine.No problems.But when I plug it into my laptop, using Windows 7 it will not load it.It says newhardware detected, installing new hardware, Hardware installation failed.If I go Device Manager, It is listed under Unknown Devices.I have tried to uninstall all the USB Root Hubs, Restart the computer, in-order for it to auto re-install with the USB in / out of the computer. But it still fails.

Jul 30, 2012I found one thread on here where someone had the same issue, and there were links to two "Fixes" ...one of them worked for the CD I inserted during the process..it showed up in iTunes in everything. When I took the CD out and tried to put it in a new one, it went back to the same thing - saying there is no disc in the drive. I tried running the fix again and this time it keeps saying not fixed. I was so excited because it looked like it worked, but no. The computer says that the drive is working properly, but obviously it isn't. HP wants to charge $60+ to fix it because it's a few months out of warranty.
