i used to burn my movies on *** dvd but when i tried to do so as usual this message appears"windows can't read the disc in drive e .make sure that the disc in *** format that windows can recognize.if not formate the disc first" there is no format option and i used to use this type of dvds and it usually works and when i but *** dvd that i was burn before, windows read it easy but not the blank dvds of the same type.
I am trying to install Windows 7 onto my laptop as I want to do a clean install to wipe off everything and have windows freshly put on. My cd/dvd drive cannot read the disc. You can here the drive attempting to load up the disc but to know success. I have tried Microsoft Fix, does not work (however, it has in the past as well as booting from disc at startup-that too has worked in the past), I have tried booting from the cd/dvd drive on bootup, I have attempted to go into the registry and delete lowers installers I think its called (I didnt do this on previously installation attempts and I installed fine). I have all correct drivers according to my laptop, plus I've gone into the packard bell website to download the correct drivers and I have used windows update too in case I am missing anything. Nothing is working.
there is some seriously issue with my optical drive. When i put in any DVD inside it just have a sound "like the DISC is running" for 3 times and it stopped. I tried a lot of different disc. It doesn't read the Disc at all..
I desided to reformate my computer, farly new computer and windows 7. so im using the 3 recovery disc that I burned when I first got the computer. so now i deside to reformate, started reinstalling...it went through disc1, when it asked for recovery disc 2 (at around 50% of installing) I put it in and it just spits it back out and doesnt want to read it, now im stuck the computer wont even boot up fully (wont boot to desktop, however I can access the bois?I think either when I copied the disc it didnt get copied right (disc2)because disc1 worked fine) or something is just wrong with the disc 2 dvd (has no scratches on it though) but im stuck how can i get it to work or even get windows to start back up to the desktop?
odd prob with disc read error. So about once a month my cpu has a disc read error, this will last about a week as I try everything to fix it. Then, out of no where, runs perfect. Last time this happened, I thought I would think ahead and installed another copy of windows 7 on a D: and test it. ran perfect. So this time it happened, I tried to boot off D: and same problem, disc read error, reboot.Disconnected my C: drive and same prob with new windows install. I have tried windows install disc and recovery disc along with all utilities and full backup disc image. Still nothing... then just when I give up, It runs fine. it seems to stay glitchy the first few reboots but then works perfect for about 1-3 months
I recently purchased Star Wars: The old Republic for windows.
I upgraded from windows vista about a year ago, but I have yet to install a game with the use of disk, The problem is, when I put the disk in the DVD/RW drive, ...nothing happens.
The only time something really happens , is when it shows the DVD ROM thumbnail, but when I Open it up, it either freezes my computer, or It shows nothings in the file.
I have tried running it through the run application, and it gives me a notice that the file is corrupted. I have tried using this game in my other computer and it works fine..
I'm having the same issue though, and to every suggestion I still cannot get in. The only difference is my HDD is not partitioned. Even if i go into the BIOS and change it to boot cd first because i have a vista dvd in there it still gives me a read disc error.
I upgraded to 7 with student upgrade discount downloaded fyi.
All of my specs are in my profile ( i think, first time so yeah. )
The things that i've tried are:
Plugged my HDD into a friends computer, was able to access all the files.
my dvd does not quickly read disc. It takes time, you have to load and eject for several times before it can read the disc. the disc will spin and then stop. what is the possible problem.
I am using hp pavilion g6 notebook pc, I was trying the check the pictures that i saved in a dvd disc but my laptop don't see any pictures it just keep on asking me how to format the dvd and it's the same woth the other dvd's i have.
I had Vista Ultimate installed for a long time on my PC, and just today bought the student upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. The download went fine, and I selected the custom install, since it couldn't upgrade from Ultimate.
The setup screen appeared, and it extracted the setup files, and then reboot my computer. Right after my bios boot screen, I got the message "disc read error - press ctrl alt delete to reboot."
I did order the disc backup so I'll be getting that in the mail eventually, but what went wrong? Everything appeared to be normal right up to this point, and I don't know how to solve it.
I've recently been given a gift of Harry Potter Blu-Ray DVDs, however when I put it in my laptop (which is supposed to have blu-ray installed), nothing happens. I click on "computer" and it just shows the D drive, it doesn't show up on my computer at all. I have no idea what to do.I have a Windows 7 and I installed PowerDVD 11 if that helps.
I have a toshiba satellite L750 running Windows 7 home premium, when trying to burn anything onto a blank disc I get as far as selecting my items and asking it to burn but it keeps telling me to insert a blank disc (which obviously I have). I have tried several different types of blank disc but it dosnt seem to recognise any of them.
i created a file for my fathers estate on my windows vista microsoft word program. I saved it to a cd and now i just recently bought a new computer running the windows 7 operating system. The new computer will not read any of the discs that created using the windows vista. So I have an bit of an odd and I think unique problem (as many searches came up with no solutions). Simply put, my boot manager is missing, but only when my windows install disc is not in the disc drive. It started several months ago and I just left it be, let the disc it int he disc drive and it was not that big of a deal. But just did a clean install couple days ago I re-installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my computer (using an upgrade disc if that makes a difference).I formatted the drive with what I guess is a quick format (the option the install disc gives you). I have tried doing a repair with the install disc but no problems are found every time I try.
I try to start my Dell Inspiron 5010 laptop and I get "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl Alt Del to recover"Every page I've Googled about this error tells me my hard drive is shot and needs to be replaced. I'm in total denial so, can this really be? Have I lost all my data? Does the hard drive need to be gutted and replaced?
Tried several so called fixes but nothing has resolved the issue of not reading a blank cd or dvd and no recording tab in the cd drive properties in my Sony Vaio vpceb43fx running Windows 7 64-bit.
I have a new HP desktop running Windows7. I have an external hard drive that i was using with Windows XP. The external hard drive is a Western Digital. My new computer recognizes the drive but can not read it. Is there a simple solution. Tech support from Western Digital tells me I have to format the drive. I dont want to lose my files.
my dvd drive wont read any disks, im running windows 7 64 bit, i have tried the options below but still no luck i have had a search on here and tried this to fix it:
- execute regedit - search the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} - delete Upperfilter and lowerfilter entries. - Reboot your system.
there was no upper-filter or lower filters to delete, i have also had a look in properties and it says the dvd drive is working fine,iv tried to uninstall it and restart still have the same problem?
I have 2 drives (connected one at a time to try and sort this issue) SONY AD-7260S and a LITE-ON
Now from upgarding to XP to 7 I had no issues until now... When inserting Disc (Blank or Data Files) the DVD Drive will hang and not ask what to do with the Disk and when I try to Burn the disc it will say cannot write to drive or just sit there doing nothing
Both these drives worked flawlessly with XP and only way to get the drive to recognise half the time with Windows 7 is to restart PC to either get it to show in Device Manager or press eject when booting to get the disk inside out.
Both drives are Sata and are only a few months old (not burned much and work exceeelnet on another xp machine)
Ubuntu kills comp, grub reset screen only shows I partitioned my external harddrive via ubuntu to run ubuntu. Back on windows, my harddrive isn't read in my computer but it shows in device manager. How can i access this?
I have a 1.5TB Seagate ext HD that is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT), this was formatted on my iMac. The Mac internal HD has completely crashed. I attached the ext HD to my Toshiba Satellite laptop, the ext HD does not show in the drive list. It does show in the device manager. It also shows as working properly in the properties menu I need files from this drive. How do I get my Windows 7 system to read the ext usb drive?
After the latest Win 7 updates on three of my computers, the CD drive does not read blank CDs. It gives an error message "Windows cannot read the disk in drive E:"etc, format the disk etc.I was always able to put a blank CD in the drive and see that it was blank or could copy files to drive. Now, it only gives me this message. I tried several different blank CDs. They work fine in my older XP computer.
My 1 TB Toshiba external hard drive cannot be read by Windows. a error messgae appears sayng CD Rive E is either corupted or the disc is in an incompatible format.
I know, should have a backup, I was actually about to create a backup when the flash drive failed on me unfortunately. My newest backup is from about 5 days ago, so I'd prefer to be able to restore the current files.
I moved the drive over to another computer and tried to save a file but when I checked again the file was gone, like it never saved at all. Subsequently, after removing and plugging it back in the computer did not detect the drive (or see it in disc management). It does show up as a generic USB drive in the device manager, but there are no properties for it.
When I add it to a computer, it still adds drivers for it, but then nothing happens after that. It may also be a hardware problem, since the drive fell on the ground pretty hard a while back, but seemed to be working fine. There isn't an easy way to open it up and check.
I also tried using a few data recovery programs, but they couldn't detect the drive either.
