I have an Asus M3A76-CM MB with 6 available SATA ports...here is what is being reported in device manager:
ST31000333AS
Location 0 (Channel 2, Target 0, Lun 0)
ST31000340AS
Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0)
ST32000542AS
Location 0 (Channel 1, Target 0, Lun 0)
in physically looking at the MB, I see that the SATA cable for the 542 is in the 3 position (facing the MB looking down), but is there a way to determine which drive is C: and what is D: (the 542 is being assigned F:, and the CD/DVD is E.
I just spent hours setting up 7MC with my tv tuner and line up all of the channels to match with the guides manually. I've already perform a full system backup. Is there a way to backup just the 7MC LiveTV contents IE: guides, channel scans etc?
I only have 2 Devices available, one is Realtek Hd Audio (the one with only Stereo, but it has Dolby Surround Sound, idk if that replaces the options of choosing 5.1 or better)And the other one (disabled) is a Digital Optical Output idk what that is, but that has the option of choosing 5.1 surround sound but the sound doesn't work when I set that as default device.I plan on getting a 7.1 gaming surround sound headset (Razer Megaladon) but if my computer doesn't give me the option of choosing 7.1 should I just get some normal gaming headset (Razer Carcharias) this is the laptop I am using; Newegg.com - SONY VPCF116FX/B NoteBook Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 16.4" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm BD Combo NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
My master boot drive is on Ch0 (IDE) my SSD is on Ch4 (SATA) in the bios. How do I get my SSD to Ch0 so it's seen as the Windows Boot Drive (Master) for Windows to Boot, it is just a matter of it plugged into the right SATA port on the board ?
About two weeks ago, Windows Media Center stopped changing channels automatically when a program is set to record. The guide displays "this program will record as part of a series request" or "this program will be recorded", just like normal. I will even get a notification that media center will change the channel to record. However, it never changes and does not record.
Here is what I have done to troubleshoot: I have uninstalled the tuner(physically) & re-installed Updated the drivers for the tuner Ran complete MCE setup again Completely removed device & drivers via control panel Would this be a MCE problem or a tuner card issue?
I was recently forced by my provider to change from analogue to a digital service. I received two basic analogue to digital converters and have them setup on media center (Windows 7). I have IR blasters going from the back of the USB MC dongle to the front of the 2 digital boxes. Problem: I can browse channels no problem when not recording anything. As soon as I begin recording a channel and change channels, it switches over to the second digital box/tuner but it won't change the channels. Media center seems to think it's changing but the instructions never make it back to the digital box. It's like it's never activating the second IR blaster. I switched some of the hardware around to no avail, same results either way. Both digital boxes are identical and both remotes worth with both boxes.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional (RTM) and a Hauppauge Nova T500 tuner card.
My problem is some channels such as Virgin1 always show a black screen, no weak signal message, no audio. The funny thing is if I use the native WinTV programme the channels work fine.
The other problem is sometimes I get a black screen on almost all my channels.
I googled a lot for many days and now I tired of looking and searching but I can't find working link, I want to watch Discovery, History and National Geographic channel, but I can't find them, I only find out some non English History and Discovery channels.
I have windows 7 32 bit. I am using a Hauppage HVR 2250 dual tuner card. What is odd is that a few channels will only let me watch them live if I record them. As soon as you hit record you can watch the channel. Otherwise it says "service is unavailable".I can even hit record then stop the record and I can keep watching the channel. Also one other channel works live but when you hit record it says"service is unavailable".It was not always like this as every channel scanned and found worked flawlessly. We have a great outdoor antanna and are very close to the TV towers (around 5 miles away). So I highly doubt it's a signal strength issue all the sudden.
I am trying to set up a Set Top Box connection in Windows Media Center on W7x64, but I can't get the Windows Media Center remote to change the channels in the setup. I have the USB IR transceiver with an IR blaster in front of the STB's IR receiver, and when going through the setup WMC states it has the remote code correct, but it doesn't work. I have fiddled with every conceivable setting, from manually coding the STB's remote to picking out all of the possible code's from a list, but it doesn't work. I have also tried all of the immediate settings (number of channel digits, pressing enter or not), and it's still a no go. From what I've read, other people have had issues with this particular STB. It seems that most people's answer was just to trade it in, but I don't think that is an option at this point since Comcast has been using this box for over a year now.
Also, I thought I should mention that the USB IR transceiver does indeed pick up the STB's signals, as it flashes when I use it. Maybe an IR to IR cable from the back of the STB to the USB IRt would work?
I have recently purchased a PCTV Nanostick DVD-T2 290e I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and I use Windows Media Center for almost everything. I run a media center machine in my lounge through my Sony AV Amp onto my HD TV.I bought the Nanostick to watch Freeview HD programmes when watching the TV through the Media Center I also have a Sony Freeview Plus system that the Mrs uses.I installed the Nanostick with relatively no issues and as described by many user reviews Media Center picked up the new USB tuner and scanned all the new channels and I was presented with all the HD channels. The issue I have is that there is no audio sound from the HD channels but perfect video. SD works fine. The software that comes with the Nanostick works fine both sound and vision are perfect for the HD channels.
As mentioned, I run my Media Centre lots. I have an extensive DVD and BD collection stored on a server and DVD and BD all play perfectly through Arcsoft Total Media Theatre 5 with no issues on either SD or HD. My sound card is built into my motherboard and that sends the audio signal to my gfx card and that in turn passes it through to my Sony AV Amp that decodes the audio to be heard on my 5.1 set up.
My Optiarc DVD RW AD-7203A drive refuses to recognize any sort of media I put within it. I am unsure of when this problem occured (because I rarely use the drive, which begs the question of how in the world can it stop working), but I do know that nothing I have tried has helped me.I've tried all of the following:Editing the registry to no avail because the "Lower Filters" key is not present, therefore the kb article is of no use.Uninstalling/reinstalling the drive Changing the Start key in the registry to "3" Formatting the entire machine and restoring to factory settings The thing is, whenever I enter the Device Manager to check on the drive, it keeps saying it's working perfectly/drivers are up-to-date/blah blah blah. I've tried searching everywhere but to no avail, and I may soon just take a hammer to it and be done with this crap. However, I am hoping that you mates can help me before rage takes over and I smash this thing to bits! Also, is it possible for a drive to be stuck in "burn mode" (as in it thinks it's always burning a cd/dvd)?
Recently my DVD burner does not see any DVDs on my computer that I built a couple of months ago. It does not see Movies, Games(that are DVD), Blank DVD-R or DVD-R that I have written information to. I have put in a few different CDs(Game, Audio and Data) and they do get recognized by the drive. My problems all started when I was writing to a Blank DVD. While it was burning, the burn process failed about midway through. After that happened, my problems with the drive not recognizing the DVDs started.
I had done a system restore to an earlier restore point before I had the problems with the drive, but that did not help. So, I undid the system restore. I have also tried uninstalling the drive from the Device Manager and restarted, but that also did not work.
The computer is running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The model of the DVD burner is a LiteOn iHAS524-T98 B. The Manufacture Date of the drive is April 2011, so it's not that old of a drive.
If I plug my flash drive into my PC using Windows XP, it works fine.No problems. But when I plug it into my laptop, using Windows 7 it will not load it.It says newhardware detected, installing new hardware, Hardware installation failed. If I go Device Manager, It is listed under Unknown Devices.I have tried to uninstall all the USB Root Hubs, Restart the computer, in-order for it to auto re-install with the USB in / out of the computer. But it still fails.
I found one thread on here where someone had the same issue, and there were links to two "Fixes" ...one of them worked for the CD I inserted during the process..it showed up in iTunes in everything. When I took the CD out and tried to put it in a new one, it went back to the same thing - saying there is no disc in the drive. I tried running the fix again and this time it keeps saying not fixed. I was so excited because it looked like it worked, but no. The computer says that the drive is working properly, but obviously it isn't. HP wants to charge $60+ to fix it because it's a few months out of warranty.
Tried several so called fixes but nothing has resolved the issue of not reading a blank cd or dvd and no recording tab in the cd drive properties in my Sony Vaio vpceb43fx running Windows 7 64-bit.
I have to remove the "Read Only" status from my external USB WD 2TB hard drive which I used as a backup drive. I have tried all suggestions here and in other forums. None have helped. I'm using Win 7. I will be returning the drive to the manufacturer (WD) and I want to (Format) erase all the information on it. All my tax returns information as well as my Quicken data have been backed up to this drive
i cant get the computer to reconize the burner it will show a green light open and close and i can hear it turning but it isnt being reconized by my computer it did work one time and hasnt done it since
I cant burn dvds on my hp dv7. I use Win 7 64 bit Home Standard edition. I have owned this computer 3 years now and since my free upgrade from Vista to Win 7 the problem has existed. As far as I can tell the filter trick only works for one or two of these machines, and will only really help the problem when it first manifests itself with burning issues. One day your filters will just break in the registry, and at this point the problem becomes unsolvable, even by changing out hardware, or uninstalling and reinstalling old hardware. It would be nice if someone other than Microsoft or HP would look into this or that said companies would make a real effort to figure out if the problem is an interaction between the firmware and the registry or the driver cache and the registry. I fix networks and computers for a living, and am working on my BSIS in Technology Management?
Just set up WMC with my Ceton Infinitv4 PCI card. It's working well, but WMC is recording movies from cable TV multiple times (example: I ask it to record the Monday at 9 PM showing of Pulp Fiction. It also records the movie on Tuesday at 3 PM and Wednesday at 12.)
My "Series Only" settings are: Show Type: New Channels: One Channel Only Airtime: Specific Time
I have an Acer Aspire One Happy and have got this message:
"A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
I have been searching for solutions all day but I can't do any of the options described. Pressing f8 to enter safe mode does nothing, nor does alt+f10. I also don't have a cd drive as its just a netbook and no recovery cd came with it even if I did have a portable one. Anyone have any ideas? I'm on a boat in the Arctic for the next month and without my laptop I will likely jump off an iceberg!
I have bought a used computer having windows 7 installed. It had a Hitachi LG combo drive, but it was not working, so I replaced it with a Samsung one. I have checked it on another computer. It was working fine there but it is not working on my PC. It does not show any exclamation mark in device manager. It just read the cd/dvd but does not respond. I have already done with the registry fix and also tried the auto fix from Microsoft site, but nothing worked for me.
OK so since I have installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on this computer ( it is the first operating system installed on it) I can not write any DVDs .A strange fact is that I can write and read CDs and also read DVDs, but not every time.I got an original CD Album and it's still not recognized by the PC for example, and this happens to many audio CDs.I tried many registry tricks and stuff like that but in vain. The computer is new, bought it one month ago. DVD+RW - Sony Optiaric AD-7260SI also tired to resolve the problem with FixIt but it was also useless.I kept getting the message: "The disc in drive [E:] is not detected, or is not supported"
Ive had this problem once before. I turned my PC on Yesterday, and my WD 500GB Hard drive (Number 3) was not recognised. Then I did a reboot, and the drive showed up again, HOWEVER, The drive has the Read Only flag in DiskPart and using the attrib disk clear readonly commands with the correct disk selected does not work. DiskPart just moans that It cant clear the attribute.
I doubt its a Driver Issue or a Hardware issue as It was working fine. All the tests in Ubuntu 10.04 (my second os) come up good and I can write to it, So Windows 7 has done something, Not sure what.
I have a pair of WD 500GB drives in Raid0 array with the resulting >900Gb partitioned such :
C: Priamry 100Gb - Windows 7 64bit D: Primary 80 GB - Windows 7 32bit E: Primary 40GB - Windows 7 32bit R: Secondary Logical - 355GB - Data Z: Secondary Logical - 355GB - Data
Using DualBootPro to boot between the various OS Both the Windows 7 32 bit installations give me no problems whatsoever, however, intermitantly when booting into the Windows 7 64 installation sometimes the R drive will appear as read only, or the Z drive will appear as read only or they are both OK.This is more an inconvenience than a major disassater, as a reboot normally resolves the issue. This appears to be cmpletely random, as it does not happen specifically after a boot into either of the Windows 7 32 installtions, but can occur even after a previous successful boot of the Windows 7 64 installation.
So i build a newcomputer yesterday. I decided to use my old SATA hard drive from my computer, it has my OS, and other files on it. I get everything put in, but when i start the computer it says "no hard disk is detected".
I enter the bios menu, and i notice it recognizes that it is in there, as well as my disk drive.
How come it wont let me load my hard drive, and it doesnt detect it when i start it up.. but BIOS sees that its there?
