I just spent hours setting up 7MC with my tv tuner and line up all of the channels to match with the guides manually. I've already perform a full system backup. Is there a way to backup just the 7MC LiveTV contents IE: guides, channel scans etc?
I only have 2 Devices available, one is Realtek Hd Audio (the one with only Stereo, but it has Dolby Surround Sound, idk if that replaces the options of choosing 5.1 or better)And the other one (disabled) is a Digital Optical Output idk what that is, but that has the option of choosing 5.1 surround sound but the sound doesn't work when I set that as default device.I plan on getting a 7.1 gaming surround sound headset (Razer Megaladon) but if my computer doesn't give me the option of choosing 7.1 should I just get some normal gaming headset (Razer Carcharias) this is the laptop I am using; Newegg.com - SONY VPCF116FX/B NoteBook Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 16.4" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm BD Combo NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
I have an Asus M3A76-CM MB with 6 available SATA ports...here is what is being reported in device manager:
ST31000333AS
Location 0 (Channel 2, Target 0, Lun 0)
ST31000340AS
Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0)
ST32000542AS
Location 0 (Channel 1, Target 0, Lun 0)
in physically looking at the MB, I see that the SATA cable for the 542 is in the 3 position (facing the MB looking down), but is there a way to determine which drive is C: and what is D: (the 542 is being assigned F:, and the CD/DVD is E.
My master boot drive is on Ch0 (IDE) my SSD is on Ch4 (SATA) in the bios. How do I get my SSD to Ch0 so it's seen as the Windows Boot Drive (Master) for Windows to Boot, it is just a matter of it plugged into the right SATA port on the board ?
About two weeks ago, Windows Media Center stopped changing channels automatically when a program is set to record. The guide displays "this program will record as part of a series request" or "this program will be recorded", just like normal. I will even get a notification that media center will change the channel to record. However, it never changes and does not record.
Here is what I have done to troubleshoot: I have uninstalled the tuner(physically) & re-installed Updated the drivers for the tuner Ran complete MCE setup again Completely removed device & drivers via control panel Would this be a MCE problem or a tuner card issue?
I was recently forced by my provider to change from analogue to a digital service. I received two basic analogue to digital converters and have them setup on media center (Windows 7). I have IR blasters going from the back of the USB MC dongle to the front of the 2 digital boxes. Problem: I can browse channels no problem when not recording anything. As soon as I begin recording a channel and change channels, it switches over to the second digital box/tuner but it won't change the channels. Media center seems to think it's changing but the instructions never make it back to the digital box. It's like it's never activating the second IR blaster. I switched some of the hardware around to no avail, same results either way. Both digital boxes are identical and both remotes worth with both boxes.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional (RTM) and a Hauppauge Nova T500 tuner card.
My problem is some channels such as Virgin1 always show a black screen, no weak signal message, no audio. The funny thing is if I use the native WinTV programme the channels work fine.
The other problem is sometimes I get a black screen on almost all my channels.
I googled a lot for many days and now I tired of looking and searching but I can't find working link, I want to watch Discovery, History and National Geographic channel, but I can't find them, I only find out some non English History and Discovery channels.
I have windows 7 32 bit. I am using a Hauppage HVR 2250 dual tuner card. What is odd is that a few channels will only let me watch them live if I record them. As soon as you hit record you can watch the channel. Otherwise it says "service is unavailable".I can even hit record then stop the record and I can keep watching the channel. Also one other channel works live but when you hit record it says"service is unavailable".It was not always like this as every channel scanned and found worked flawlessly. We have a great outdoor antanna and are very close to the TV towers (around 5 miles away). So I highly doubt it's a signal strength issue all the sudden.
I am trying to set up a Set Top Box connection in Windows Media Center on W7x64, but I can't get the Windows Media Center remote to change the channels in the setup. I have the USB IR transceiver with an IR blaster in front of the STB's IR receiver, and when going through the setup WMC states it has the remote code correct, but it doesn't work. I have fiddled with every conceivable setting, from manually coding the STB's remote to picking out all of the possible code's from a list, but it doesn't work. I have also tried all of the immediate settings (number of channel digits, pressing enter or not), and it's still a no go. From what I've read, other people have had issues with this particular STB. It seems that most people's answer was just to trade it in, but I don't think that is an option at this point since Comcast has been using this box for over a year now.
Also, I thought I should mention that the USB IR transceiver does indeed pick up the STB's signals, as it flashes when I use it. Maybe an IR to IR cable from the back of the STB to the USB IRt would work?
I have recently purchased a PCTV Nanostick DVD-T2 290e I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and I use Windows Media Center for almost everything. I run a media center machine in my lounge through my Sony AV Amp onto my HD TV.I bought the Nanostick to watch Freeview HD programmes when watching the TV through the Media Center I also have a Sony Freeview Plus system that the Mrs uses.I installed the Nanostick with relatively no issues and as described by many user reviews Media Center picked up the new USB tuner and scanned all the new channels and I was presented with all the HD channels. The issue I have is that there is no audio sound from the HD channels but perfect video. SD works fine. The software that comes with the Nanostick works fine both sound and vision are perfect for the HD channels.
As mentioned, I run my Media Centre lots. I have an extensive DVD and BD collection stored on a server and DVD and BD all play perfectly through Arcsoft Total Media Theatre 5 with no issues on either SD or HD. My sound card is built into my motherboard and that sends the audio signal to my gfx card and that in turn passes it through to my Sony AV Amp that decodes the audio to be heard on my 5.1 set up.
Just set up WMC with my Ceton Infinitv4 PCI card. It's working well, but WMC is recording movies from cable TV multiple times (example: I ask it to record the Monday at 9 PM showing of Pulp Fiction. It also records the movie on Tuesday at 3 PM and Wednesday at 12.)
My "Series Only" settings are: Show Type: New Channels: One Channel Only Airtime: Specific Time
My area (Midlothian) had the digital switchover recently. As a result we had to re-tune our freeview receivers. every one in the house picked up all channels no problem except media center. When it scans for channels it seems to find them no problem and they all show up in the guide but when i try to watch ITV, channel 4, channel 5, E4 and a few others i am told there is no signal or the channel is off air. This must be something to do with mediacenter because the channels are watchable in the software that came with my tuner card.
When my download of Windows 7 finishes do I just burn it to a DVD and that's it or do I extract the content and then burn the extracted content to a DVD? Just that I saw something mentioned about this along with a tutorial (which I can't seem to find) the other day.
When burning data for the second time or more when using Nero 10 ROM and selecting the multisession, no new data is added. I am using Windows 7 operating system.
I have Acronis true image 2010 and it works sometimes but I just got a corrupted archive and I lost my C drive. So I'm thinking about another Backup program, or buying Acronis true image 2012 with Norton Ghost 15 so if one fails I have the other, but for both of them to be on the same computer might cause problems.
I have several computers in the house and thought.... its about time I backed these up (I know you should do this regularly) but being a bit unfamiliar with what the end result is on the backup, I'm asking if you can backup several computer to one big external drive and not copy stuff over from one backup to another - i.e. would you end up with folders that you could distinguish from each computer ?
If my hard drive will break, with no way of repairing it , and I will have to switch it with a new one, is there a way to backup windows 7 for case like that or I must buy new windows for the new hard drive?
I have alot of data stored on a Windows 2008 Server.I want it to backup onto a NAS at another location. The only trouble is the location I want can't get a static IP for a FTP server. What else could I do? Or run on the NAS to update the IP on the Server.
I own an HP G70 laptop which came preinstalled with vista. I received a free copy of Windows 7 (as an .iso image) with a legitimate activation code through MSDNAA. I burned the image to a DVD and install Windows 7 from the burned disk doing the necessary task of formatting the hard drive, etc. etc. Now, before I started installing programs and putting my files back from back up disks, the idea of making a system image right when I first started up Windows went over my head (fail on my part), so if I were to make one now, it would be over a 30GB. Now, if my hard drive were to go bad, can I just restore Windows 7 with the installation disc I made instead of making a system image or recovery partition?
I got this new laptop it is an hp 64 bit windows 7 premium. When ever you buy a laptop these days you need to back up the system files in case you need to restore the laptop.
I know this is a Windows 7 forum but perhaps someone here can help. My wife has given me permission to use her laptop to experiment with Ubuntu and Ubuntu variations on the condition that when she gets it back it will exactly as she left it. So... is there a way to back up the entire OS with installed programs, settings, personal files, etc? I know about dualbooting but in case something goes awry it would be handy to just be able to pop in a disc(s) and replace everything where it was.
I want to do a backup of each on an external drive, in case either should failHowever, my main need is to be able to access data and emails from that backup using the other working machine, until such time a repair is made and the data can be restored to the original machine. What software (free would be nice!) will let me view all the emails & data without having to actually restore it onto another machine? I am concerned that the mix of Vista & Windows 7 and windows mail & windows live mail might cause a problem.Maybe I am making this too complicated for myself and that any software (Easeus for example) would do the job
Has anyone ever used the Windows 7 Backup/Restore functionality to image different drives?
My intent is to have multiple images of multiple partitions in my system to restore from if the drives themselves fail and theoretically use the boot disk to pick and choose the images to restore to different locations.
I'm a former Acronis 2010 TIH user - the reason, the Acronis app is a complete shambles since they have moved from 2009 to 2010.
i need some assistance,i am trying to backup my files on W7 64bit home premium, when i run (BACKUP NOW)it starts to run,but the loading bar stays at approx 10percent and does not progress,it stays like this for hours and will not seem to complete this process,i am backing up to my portable 600gig samsung drive..im not sure how to fix this problem
I have a machine Running Win 7 Enterprise x64, the drive has been encrypted with BitLocker. Recently the machine stopped booting. I have tried normal boot, last known good configuration, safe mode w/ networking, safe mode and none of these will boot, they all get a BSOD.
I have the BitLocker Recovery Key so that part is not an issue. Is there a Bootable CD that has the ability to unlock the drive or does anyone have any other ideas?
I need to reinstall Windows 7, without the disc, but I do have my Product Key Code & Serial #. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Something or someone has messed with my "puter" & it's a mess. I need to start over & I don't care if I have to reinstall my software. I have gone to every Windows website & still can't find anything. I'm not going to do a back up because there are some things on here that I don't want to put back on once I get 7 reinstall. I will reinstall my virus program.
I am thinking about updating my computer or re-installing Windows 7. So backing-up Windows Live email is important - I run my club's group email system. In the meantime, I have copied the Windows mail folder to an external hard disk - is this sufficient ? I have no way of checking if it is correct and can be pasted back into Windows 7.
