View 3 RepliesWhen my download of Windows 7 finishes do I just burn it to a DVD and that's it or do I extract the content and then burn the extracted content to a DVD? Just that I saw something mentioned about this along with a tutorial (which I can't seem to find) the other day.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI own an HP G70 laptop which came preinstalled with vista. I received a free copy of Windows 7 (as an .iso image) with a legitimate activation code through MSDNAA. I burned the image to a DVD and install Windows 7 from the burned disk doing the necessary task of formatting the hard drive, etc. etc. Now, before I started installing programs and putting my files back from back up disks, the idea of making a system image right when I first started up Windows went over my head (fail on my part), so if I were to make one now, it would be over a 30GB. Now, if my hard drive were to go bad, can I just restore Windows 7 with the installation disc I made instead of making a system image or recovery partition?

My wife has given me permission to use her laptop to experiment with Ubuntu and Ubuntu variations on the condition that when she gets it back it will exactly as she left it. So... is there a way to back up the entire OS with installed programs, settings, personal files, etc? I know about dualbooting but in case something goes awry it would be handy to just be able to pop in a disc(s) and replace everything where it was.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to do a backup of each on an external drive, in case either should failHowever, my main need is to be able to access data and emails from that backup using the other working machine, until such time a repair is made and the data can be restored to the original machine. What software (free would be nice!) will let me view all the emails & data without having to actually restore it onto another machine? I am concerned that the mix of Vista & Windows 7 and windows mail & windows live mail might cause a problem.Maybe I am making this too complicated for myself and that any software (Easeus for example) would do the job

My intent is to have multiple images of multiple partitions in my system to restore from if the drives themselves fail and theoretically use the boot disk to pick and choose the images to restore to different locations.

I need to reinstall Windows 7, without the disc, but I do have my Product Key Code & Serial #. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Something or someone has messed with my "puter" & it's a mess. I need to start over & I don't care if I have to reinstall my software. I have gone to every Windows website & still can't find anything. I'm not going to do a back up because there are some things on here that I don't want to put back on once I get 7 reinstall. I will reinstall my virus program.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to backup my C drive so that I can RAID 2 SSD's, but when I try to go to the windows backup software it includes my F: drive as a System drive. Any ideas how to fix this? I believe it may be because my Internet Explorer Cache folder is there. I try to delete it and it says It is in use by the Operating System. I try to move the folder to my C: drive and delete it on the F: drive and I still get the same error. I don't know why. Could this be the reason Windows backup is trying to backup both drives? I'm not sure if the internet explorer cache is the reason, or maybe it could be something else, like my MBR is on that drive?
