WMC Is Recording Movies From Cable Channels Multiple Times
Oct 5, 2012
Just set up WMC with my Ceton Infinitv4 PCI card. It's working well, but WMC is recording movies from cable TV multiple times (example: I ask it to record the Monday at 9 PM showing of Pulp Fiction. It also records the movie on Tuesday at 3 PM and Wednesday at 12.)
My "Series Only" settings are:
Show Type: New
Channels: One Channel Only
Airtime: Specific Time
I am trying to get my wife's new computer up and running without any BSOD or program failures. Note that the system was not initially set up to capture the dmp files so all the earliest ones are missing. I presented the initial problems to the original seller who recommended sticking with MSE and uninstalling Norton 360 and I did that. Another forum suggested that Virtual Memory was the problem and I disabled and restored VM. Still having multiple crashes and I am hoping that I can get real help here. I do note that all the crashes have ntoskrnl.exe in the driver stack although sometimes alone and sometimes with other drivers.[CODE]
My custom built machine is about 9 months old. For the last 3 months or so it has been crashing multiple times per day (usually 1-2 per day). It doesn't usually crash for atleast 3-4 hours after the reboot. I can't find any thing to make it crash on demand and don't notice myself doing the same time each time it crashes. It seems pretty random.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. It is the full retail version and was the first OS installed on this hard drive.
I have attached the results of the BSOD Dump & System File Collection app and the system health alert.
Already crashed 2 times today in 30 minutes. The first time i was just browsing, the second time i was playing Skyrim. This happens randomly every day. Windows 7 x64 This is what what i got from my latest crash.

I am getting the explorer.exe error multiple times in the day, I have also repair installed and also restored the system at the safe state of system but after sometimes the error occurs as before. I have also done sfc/scannow system file checking but it says the system does not have any integrity problems.
I just reinstalled Windows 7 and added a new motherboard and cpu. I've been getting BSOD all day and it seems to be the same few errors every time, but at different intervals. I've attached a crash report from BlueScreenView.
In bios (I have ASUS mb P5Q SE Plus) i can setup the pc to automatically power on at 1 certain time, does anyone know if its possible at all to setup more than 1 autopower on time either through bios or some application (free)?
i just bought a new laptop, it has windows 7, i cant install programs from CDs or stuff ive downloaded. Ive tried disabling anti virus, fire wall, rebooting multiple times and the error when installing still comes up
my internet stops working for ~30 seconds multiple times a day. I am using Time Warner Cable with a Motorla SBG6580 modem and Asus RTN56U router and a wired connection. When it drops the internet access icon in the bottom right doesn't change (no yellow exclamation point) and sometimes when I run the troubleshoot internet connections it will come back with "the DNS server isn't responding. The other computers in my house don't seem to have the problem. My computer uses a wired connection and am running Windows 7.

The problem is that Flash will not stay installed. Another problem (related?) is that I *cannot* install Itunes on this computer, it will error out each time, and Apple is notorious for telling me it is a Windows problem, nothing they can do, so I found a way around the "long pole in the tent" requirement of Itunes to Sync iPad/iPod, and this really isn't even a "problem" anymore as much as an annoyance. Other utilities, Avast virus protection, Malware Bytes, Spybot Search/Destroy with immunization, and always running Iolo System Mechanic.
All software and operating system is up to date with current patches and updates. A program I use regularly that may be suspect but also seems so innocuous as to have no bearing on it is a keyboard macro program, Keyboard Express v4. For example with this program, I can define some hot keys like ALT-CTRL-T which will insert some text I define to the program into wherever the cursor is at on the current web page or Word document. Always text, no graphics or funkiness here.
I usually use Firefox (v11.0) as my browser but interestingly enough, I discover that Flash has also disappeared when I go to IE (v9), and it appears there is a different Flash for IE than there is for Firefox, depending on which browser is used to download (multiple times daily) the Flash installer. An interesting aspect is that after I re-install Flash, IE and/or Firefox, then later on go to Outlook and click a link in an email, Outlook gives me an error message about not being able to open the link. But if I reboot, Outlook is now fine to click on and open that same link, although Flash has again gone away.
i have been getting bluescreen error from past months and i have donr almost verything to resolve it but it still persists...i have given it for reformatting and the dell service put it under testing for 1 day but couldnt find the bluescreen..i have also reinstalled windows in another partition but it occurs in that too..it appears every morning after using my comp the night before.
I just spent hours setting up 7MC with my tv tuner and line up all of the channels to match with the guides manually. I've already perform a full system backup. Is there a way to backup just the 7MC LiveTV contents IE: guides, channel scans etc?
I only have 2 Devices available, one is Realtek Hd Audio (the one with only Stereo, but it has Dolby Surround Sound, idk if that replaces the options of choosing 5.1 or better)And the other one (disabled) is a Digital Optical Output idk what that is, but that has the option of choosing 5.1 surround sound but the sound doesn't work when I set that as default device.I plan on getting a 7.1 gaming surround sound headset (Razer Megaladon) but if my computer doesn't give me the option of choosing 7.1 should I just get some normal gaming headset (Razer Carcharias) this is the laptop I am using; Newegg.com - SONY VPCF116FX/B NoteBook Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 16.4" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm BD Combo NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
I have an Asus M3A76-CM MB with 6 available SATA ports...here is what is being reported in device manager:
ST31000333AS
Location 0 (Channel 2, Target 0, Lun 0)
ST31000340AS
Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0)
ST32000542AS
Location 0 (Channel 1, Target 0, Lun 0)
in physically looking at the MB, I see that the SATA cable for the 542 is in the 3 position (facing the MB looking down), but is there a way to determine which drive is C: and what is D: (the 542 is being assigned F:, and the CD/DVD is E.
My master boot drive is on Ch0 (IDE) my SSD is on Ch4 (SATA) in the bios. How do I get my SSD to Ch0 so it's seen as the Windows Boot Drive (Master) for Windows to Boot, it is just a matter of it plugged into the right SATA port on the board ?
About two weeks ago, Windows Media Center stopped changing channels automatically when a program is set to record. The guide displays "this program will record as part of a series request" or "this program will be recorded", just like normal. I will even get a notification that media center will change the channel to record. However, it never changes and does not record.
Here is what I have done to troubleshoot: I have uninstalled the tuner(physically) & re-installed Updated the drivers for the tuner Ran complete MCE setup again Completely removed device & drivers via control panel Would this be a MCE problem or a tuner card issue?
I was recently forced by my provider to change from analogue to a digital service. I received two basic analogue to digital converters and have them setup on media center (Windows 7). I have IR blasters going from the back of the USB MC dongle to the front of the 2 digital boxes. Problem: I can browse channels no problem when not recording anything. As soon as I begin recording a channel and change channels, it switches over to the second digital box/tuner but it won't change the channels. Media center seems to think it's changing but the instructions never make it back to the digital box. It's like it's never activating the second IR blaster. I switched some of the hardware around to no avail, same results either way. Both digital boxes are identical and both remotes worth with both boxes.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional (RTM) and a Hauppauge Nova T500 tuner card.
My problem is some channels such as Virgin1 always show a black screen, no weak signal message, no audio. The funny thing is if I use the native WinTV programme the channels work fine.
The other problem is sometimes I get a black screen on almost all my channels.
I googled a lot for many days and now I tired of looking and searching but I can't find working link, I want to watch Discovery, History and National Geographic channel, but I can't find them, I only find out some non English History and Discovery channels.
I have windows 7 32 bit. I am using a Hauppage HVR 2250 dual tuner card. What is odd is that a few channels will only let me watch them live if I record them. As soon as you hit record you can watch the channel. Otherwise it says "service is unavailable".I can even hit record then stop the record and I can keep watching the channel. Also one other channel works live but when you hit record it says"service is unavailable".It was not always like this as every channel scanned and found worked flawlessly. We have a great outdoor antanna and are very close to the TV towers (around 5 miles away). So I highly doubt it's a signal strength issue all the sudden.
I am trying to set up a Set Top Box connection in Windows Media Center on W7x64, but I can't get the Windows Media Center remote to change the channels in the setup. I have the USB IR transceiver with an IR blaster in front of the STB's IR receiver, and when going through the setup WMC states it has the remote code correct, but it doesn't work. I have fiddled with every conceivable setting, from manually coding the STB's remote to picking out all of the possible code's from a list, but it doesn't work. I have also tried all of the immediate settings (number of channel digits, pressing enter or not), and it's still a no go. From what I've read, other people have had issues with this particular STB. It seems that most people's answer was just to trade it in, but I don't think that is an option at this point since Comcast has been using this box for over a year now.
Also, I thought I should mention that the USB IR transceiver does indeed pick up the STB's signals, as it flashes when I use it. Maybe an IR to IR cable from the back of the STB to the USB IRt would work?
I have recently purchased a PCTV Nanostick DVD-T2 290e I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and I use Windows Media Center for almost everything. I run a media center machine in my lounge through my Sony AV Amp onto my HD TV.I bought the Nanostick to watch Freeview HD programmes when watching the TV through the Media Center I also have a Sony Freeview Plus system that the Mrs uses.I installed the Nanostick with relatively no issues and as described by many user reviews Media Center picked up the new USB tuner and scanned all the new channels and I was presented with all the HD channels. The issue I have is that there is no audio sound from the HD channels but perfect video. SD works fine. The software that comes with the Nanostick works fine both sound and vision are perfect for the HD channels.
As mentioned, I run my Media Centre lots. I have an extensive DVD and BD collection stored on a server and DVD and BD all play perfectly through Arcsoft Total Media Theatre 5 with no issues on either SD or HD. My sound card is built into my motherboard and that sends the audio signal to my gfx card and that in turn passes it through to my Sony AV Amp that decodes the audio to be heard on my 5.1 set up.
My area (Midlothian) had the digital switchover recently. As a result we had to re-tune our freeview receivers. every one in the house picked up all channels no problem except media center. When it scans for channels it seems to find them no problem and they all show up in the guide but when i try to watch ITV, channel 4, channel 5, E4 and a few others i am told there is no signal or the channel is off air. This must be something to do with mediacenter because the channels are watchable in the software that came with my tuner card.
I have a new gaming computer with a high end video card and plenty of RAM and a high speed cable Internet connection. I also have a HDHomeRun TV cable unit which is listed to work with MS Media Center. When I set up my Media Center/TV connection it recognizes my HDHomeRun TV connection and all three TV channels via my MCard I got from Comcast cable. But next to the last dialog window, during setting up my TV connection, I got the following message, "Your computer is not digital cable ready. You will not be able to set it up for use with a cable card."
We have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems. The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system. Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening. My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..
