Windows 7 Clean Install On Newly Built Computer

Feb 1, 2012

I have put together a computer, new motherboard, processor, hard drive, everything. Now I'm trying to install Windows 7 from a boot DVD, but obviously have no drivers installed, so my computer doesn't communicate with my monitor. I guess I'm stuck between needing the driver installed, but needing Windows to install the driver? Do I need to install MS-DOS or something first?I have a completely blank hard drive. Trying to install Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit.

BSOD On Newly Built Windows 7 Computer

Nov 6, 2011

So I recently put together a computer for a friend of mine. We booted it up, and everything seemed to be fine. Unfortunately, he has been having intermittent BSOD crashes, often when installing new software (though not always). We've tried reinstalling Windows 7 (64 bit) several times, and I've had him run various RAM and hard drive diagnostics, which have (so far) not indicated any issues. My suspicions are beginning to point towards the motherboard or power supply, but honestly I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to analyzing dumps. I've attached the relevant dump files. I don't have a full list of hardware directly at my disposal, but if necessary I can have him run a dxdiag tomorrow.

Windows 7 Fresh Install On Newly Built Machine

Apr 29, 2012

I needed to upgrade anyway, so I bought a new motherboard, new SATA HDD and a new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium..I had problems with th initial install, it started hanging three quarters of the way through, I checked online and found that if I disconnected all USB connections it installed fine. Now installed it won't load up correctly, or if it does it crashes almost straight away, it runs fine in safe mode, but I can't use Windows Update in safe mode.Rather than reinstall again.I've got the feeling the problem may relate to the build rather than the software, but wanted to check if anyone had experienced similar problems?

Newly Built Computer - Windows Backup Won't See Hard Drives

Nov 23, 2012

I have built many computers but am having a little bit of a problem with some things and my new one. My new install went great. All programs installed without a hitch. Fast and furious is the way it went to get everything installed. Now, after a week or so I have started having a couple glitches. When I go to install a new program or update it the program just sits there for 4 or 5 minutes before doing anything and then finally starts to do its thing. The other issue is that I am trying to do a backup and image clone to get my new system backed up. The problem there is that the windows backup won't see my hard drives. I then tried Norton Ghost and the same thing happened. What is causing this?

Windows 7 Newly Built Computer Won't Boot Past Logo Sometimes

Feb 23, 2012

Alright I am running Windows 7 ultimate x64 on my newly built computer. My computer can successfully boot past the bios and get to the logo screen. Then I get to the Windows logo which is a hit or miss. Sometimes it will boot successfully and I will have no problems whatsoever and I can enjoy my computer without worrying about anything. Then sometimes it will get hung on the logo and it will just stop responding. I don't know if this is an issue with my HDD or maybe my power supply. I think that this may be a problem with my power supply because I notice that my keyboard LED turns of when it hangs like that. The only question then is "why is this not a consistent problem that I can isolate?"

Here are my specs:
Case: Coolermaster HAF 922
CPU: Core i7 3930k (3.2 ghz stock; will OC to 4)
Motherboard: x79 Asrock Extreme 4 (x5 sata 6.0 Gb, x2 usb 3.0 ports, PCI-e 3.0 support, and quad-channel memory)
RAM: 8 gigs (2x4 gig's) of 1600 DDR3
GPU: x1 Radeon 6870
PSU: 600 Watts
HDD: 500 gig's 7200 RPM (Seagate baracuda)
Cooling: closed loop liquid cooling, Tuniq TX-2 High Performance Thermal Compound, and the standard fans on the case
Optical drive: LG 12x Blu-Ray reader and DVD combo drive
Monitor: 22" LED 1920x1080 -- ASUS VS228H-P (21.5 viewable)

Why Is Newly Built Computer Not Getting Full Internet Speed

So I built a new computer yesterday and when I ran a speed test today I was only getting 9.5mbps when I usually get over 30mbps. It has something to do with this computer since my other computer is getting 30mbps. And yes this computer is connected directly through and ethernet cable.

Newly Built Computer Random Freezing And Freezing On Starting Windows 7

Aug 17, 2012

I recently built my first PC three days ago...

Specs:
i7 bloomfield 960 processor
4x4 vengeance ram
crosair hx850 PSU
evga x58 ftw3 mobo
hd 6870 radeon graphics xfx

When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both. (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.

Installing Windows 7 On An Newly Built Pc

I am worried when I try install the windows 7 os on the new build it wont work because when i put the disc in my laptop the auto run comes up and says run setup.exe, but as far as I know that is a file that is associated with windows (and the new pc wont have an OS yet) Is that file just for upgrade purposes? because on the disc there are also many other files and folders.Does that mean I will be able to install the OS on my new system from the BIOS menu or will i have to install the old xp OS and then upgrade

I don't think it's overheating as the machine has two extra case fans and the temps seem fine. How should I go about starting to investigate this as it has never reset itself while I've been there.

Why A Newly Built PC Keeps Getting BSOD And Doing Random Shutoffs

Jun 14, 2012

why a newly built PC keeps getting BSOD and doing random shutoffs. I have replaced the memory and MB and have tested with and without the video card or OB video. I have also tried a different PSU to see if that would help. I am leaning towards a bad CPU or incompatible memory, but wanted to see what you folks think first. Also, the system has been reloaded twice. The first time was a new install and then I reloaded everything after I installed the new MB.

edit: forgot the system specs:
OS - Windows 7 Pro 64
MB - Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H
CPU - Intel i7-3770
RAM - Patriot PD000256-PXQ316G1866ELQK PC3-15000 1866MHz 16GB (4x4GB) Kit
Video - AMD FirePro V4900 1GB DP/DVI HF
PSU - Rosewill Hive-650

Operating System Crashing On Boot Up - Newly Built Machine

Feb 23, 2012

Last night, I built my first desktop machine. Most of my components were brand new, but I kept my old hard drive.(Which contained my Windows Home Premium 64 bit OS on it.)

When I finally went to power it up for the first time, it booted up normally, and then when it goes to the black screen with the colors swirling together to make the windows logo, right away it quickly flashed to a blue screen and then restarted.

I then went into the repair windows mode, but the automatic repairs failed. They left me with these details:

Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: unknown
Problem Signature 04: 21200924
Problem Signature 05: Autofailover
Problem Signature 06: 3
Problem Signature 07: No Root Cause
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

The hard drive with the operating sytem was working fine for me yesterday in my old machine. So I am assuming it has to be a problem with the new hardware, or I failed to connect something, or i need to change a setting.

Just Built Computer But Cannot Get Windows 7 To Install

Jun 28, 2010

I just built a computer, but it will not load an OS. I got Windows 7 x64 to load once, and everything worked perfect for about an hour while I updated my drivers and whatnot, but then it froze and erased the hard drive. I've been trying to install it the exact same file in the same way off my flash drive and it just won't work. I've tried to switch the ram around and remove one each time, using the cd, using a friends cd, using new connectors from the cpu to each drive and I even tried installing Windows Xp pro but it didn't work for any of that. Here are the parts that I put in my computer, maybe some aren't compatible with each other? [code]

Can't Install Windows 7 On Fresh Built Computer

Sep 18, 2011

I just built a new computer ordering the parts online & putting them together and I have come to the stage of trying to do a fresh Windows 7 install on the HDD. But, for some reason when I get to the step of selecting which hard drive to install on, Windows can't detect my hard drive. A Samsung 1TB F3 Spinpoint SATA II. The weird thing is that it shows up fine in the BIOS. I've tried changing SATA connection port on the motherboard (this changes which channel it is listed under the BIOS. i.e Channel 1/2/3 Master/Slave) but Windows still can't detect it. So apparently I need to format the hard drive before I can install Windows on it. I've been told this is easily done using the Windows 7 disk but I am still having no luck. It can't detect the hard drive to format in the first place. When I press Esc to go to the boot manager there isn't an option to format there either. And when I browse for drivers under Windows installation, I click on C and format and an error message appears saying check that it's connected properly or it's read-only. I have also tried burning boot disks and running them but they just won't run when I insert of disk and boot from CD-ROM.

Times Can We Clean Install Windows 7 On 1 Computer

Nov 1, 2011

I upgraded from Vista to 7 on my old motherboard which was successful. I then upgraded to a new motherboard so a clean installation had to be done by calling up Microsoft which was also successful. Both 32 bit versions. Now I want to do a clean install to 64 bit to take advantage of the extra RAM. Can I do this many installs? I still have the upgrade disc and product key. Also, with a previous clean install, all my old folders were compressed into a folder in the new install. Will this also happen when moving it to 64 bit? No changes to the hardware has been made.

Upgrade, Clean Install From Old Computer To New Computer

May 2, 2012

I purchased an HP latop right when Windows 7 was coming out and the HP laptop had Windows Vista when I bought it but I was sent a free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate by HP during the time when they were selling laptops with Vista and sending free upgrades. So what I want to know since the fan stopped working some time ago, (cooling it with a small fan from Walmart sending air around and inside it somewhat) on the HP laptop I purchased and recieved the free upgrade. If I return the HP laptop to factory settings (did a complete backup when purchased) and put Vista back on it, can I use my Windows 7 Ultimate disk in a newly purchased laptop since it will still only be on one laptop since I am returning the old one to Vista? And do I have to uninstall Windows 7 Ultimate with the Upgrade disk so it knows it's no longer on that computer. In other words are they linked by some type of serial number on my HP laptop that only allows me to install the Windows Upgrade disk on that specific machine?

Need To Install XP To Be Able To Have A Clean And Tidy Computer?

Apr 15, 2011

I've got dozens of folders on my PC that i cant delete because apparently i need admin privileges (even tho i am admin). Even if i switch user to the dedicated hidden admin account it still tells me i dont have the rights to delete stuff from MY OWN COMPUTER. It's utterly ridiculous.Cant beleive i actually bought this joke of an OS. I feel completely vindicated for pirating previous versions of windows and certainly wont be wasting money on future versions if this is the path they are going down.Do i really need to install XP to be able to have a clean and tidy computer?I can make a new folder and instantly i dont have the rights to delete it, surely that cant be normal?I really dont want to have to go back to XP but unless anyone knows a way to remove this stupid and completely unnecessary behaviour it seems like the only choice i have. All i want is to have 1 account, my account, from which i can do anything i like, and yes, i do understand the risks involved in that.or if not, and i do have to waste time switching to an admin account every time i want to delete/uninstall something, i at least want it to work from there which it currently does not.I have the UAC set to the bottom but still it tries to babysit my every move.

Install A Second OS On A Newly Installed SSD Drive?

Oct 16, 2010

I have an ASUS G73 laptop and have installed an OCZ 240GB SSD drive. The laptop currently has Windows 7 Home premium 64 on it on the original drive. I would like to install a new Windows 7 Professional 64 version on the new drive and be able to dual boot. I have formatted the new drive and it is recognized in My Computer and I can save files on it.When i tried to install 7 Pro, it would not show the new drive as an option to install on. I tried this by inserting the disc in the DVD drive and by rebooting with the DVD in the drive. I also took the original drive out of it's bay and tried to reboot and could not get it to install. I then moved the new drive to the original drive's bay and rebooted and could not get it to install. When you all finish giggling about all the stuff I went through, could you post a guide on what I can do to get it to install?
