Windows 7 - SFC ScanNow Errors (Unable To Repair)

Nov 2, 2012

Recently I had an issue with Chrome (which is now solved), But during solving the error I done an SFC Scan as it was a windows .DLL that was reporting to be in error and the scan found a few files that were un-repairable.I also downloaded a Windows 7 Installation Disc from Digital River; Here. After extracting the required files from the .iso files with 7-Zip, I changed the ownership of them and 'Moved and Replaced' the old files with the new files.

These are the files I replaced;

autochk.exe
blbres.dll
netcfgx.dll.mui
icardres.dll

winshfhc.dll

I then re-booted in safe mode with CMD Prompt and re-scanned with SFC, but the same files are reporting they are in error. Are they important? Is there another way to repair them? I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, I have attached the most recent SFC Scan.

BSOD Before Login Screen - No Errors Reported In SFC / Scannow

Jun 11, 2010

I bought my daughter a laptop. I dont have a windows 7 disc as windows 7 came already installed. However yesterday when she turned laptop off to have her tea and when she went back to use it. We noticed that after the windows logo had appeared the screen stayed black we could move the mouse but that was about it. I put the laptop into safe mode and checked for viruses malware and trojans, also tried a system restore but that didn't seem to do anything and found nothing suspicious.

Also did the sfc /scannow no errors reported. I read that you could get into the Task manager and stop the explore.exe and add a new one and start it again. This however I cannot try as I cant get past the windows logo screen.. So in a nut shell here's what ive tried and failed at doing..

1- Startup repair
2- System restore
3- (Via Safemode) checking for viruses, malware, trojans.
4- (Vie Safemode) updated to latest Graphic Driver
5- Tried this >> Windows 7 Black Screen Of Death Fix << did its job but after reboot went back to black screen
6- Removed battery and pressed power button for 30 - 60 seconds (to no avail)

SFC /scannow Cannot Repair Catsrvut.dll

Apr 29, 2011

I have Win7x64Ulti -Dell OEM I auto installed Sp1 in a moment of weakness (gave in to the pain of Windows 7).I have problems with some programs around com+ and VSS, notably Casper, but others as well so I ran sfc /scannow.Only one file shows up as a problem and Win says "cannot repair - source file corrupt". It is the windowssystem32catsvrut.dll, a com+ library.

Message follows:Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"catsrvut.dll" of Microsoft-Windows-COM-ComPlus-Runtime-QFE-CATSRVUT-COMSVCS, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch The attempted source is the winsxs folder. The 7600 would be pre SP1 if I read that right, so of course it cannot repair. So - I check the last disk image I had of this disk and in fact that file size and dttm is the same in the indicated winsxs folder but different in system32. I get that system32 is a secure dir/file and I cannot just copy/paste. But how to fix this is stumping me.

Weird part - I'm having trouble finding the actual file because of how Windows 7 uses Winsxs to dynamically link these files to the OS depending upon 32 or 64 bit access. I'm guessing there is a junction or symbolic link involved, because in Win explorer the file is correct size and date, in DOS it is correct size and date but when I run superfinder it shows all files with this name and system32 has wrong size and date.So it appears system32catsrvut.dll has a problem, and it further appears that the source to repair is from a pre-SP1 image in this library.I can't repair (OEM to SP1).I can't seem to copy the dll from the backup image. How do I get a valid copy of the dll? Or even tell if it is invalid?

Sfc/Scannow Cannot Repair Corrupt .inf And .nlp Files

Feb 20, 2012

I have run sfc/scannow in win 7, and have followed instructions to run sfc at boot in command prompt, but nothing has solved the errors. i have saved the file sfcdetails.txt to desktop, and have extracted only the problematic parts and saved it in another file problems.txt kindly check the file, as i have attached it here.

all the files are either .inf or with .nlp extensions.windows is running fine. but i want to get rid of the problems before they become a serious issue. I have a pre-installed OEM version of win 7 basic SP 1, and i have a HP G6-1117TX laptop. Windows Repair Errors With Dell Inspiron 15R

Jun 17, 2012

My master boot record has become corrupted, but I can't even get to safe mode command prompt. When you press F8 at boot up and make the selection, the basic drivers start to load but halt at disk. I looked up these errors online, and it seems the consensus is to use the bootrec.exe /FixMBR command, or some flavor of such. But I can't even get that far! I've changed the Boot Order in BIOS so that an Installation DVD will take precedence, but I never get to the windows installation screen. It continues to try to boot from the hard drive and the cycle starts all over. I do have a copy of Acronis Backup 2009, I was able to have it boot, but I didn't have any options to open a command prompt. If this was a desktop, I'd simply open it up and install the drive in a good computer I have and work on it.

Boot Manager Failed To Find OS Loader - Startup Repair Giving Errors

Oct 5, 2011

I am currently using windows 7 ultimate x64. I was in the middle of a process restoring my computer to a few days back and suddenly it froze. I did a power shut down and when I turned it back on, I wasn't able to get back into windows. I was brought to startup repair and it gave me errors. 'Boot manager failed to find OS loader'. There was options for restoring, but all my restore points were gone. Recovery wasn't able to find image backup.

"Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically". I was told to go into safe mode to restore, but whenever I enter safe mode, startup repair would take over and shows the same errors, also I read a tutorial using a repair disc ( made a copy of it on someone elses ultimate x64 computer) and I get the 0x00000e9 error if i boot from disc. What can I do? As of now I don't have the installation disc with me. I wont be able to get hold of it until tomorrow. There's a lot of important files in that hard drive and I really cant lose any.

Windows 7 Unable To Boot Or Repair?

Aug 3, 2011

I've installed Windows 7 alongside Ubuntu and was using grub2 bootloader, after changing my graphics card and moving removing some old hard disks when I try to boot the Windows partition I get the blinking underscore screen indefinitely.I tried recovery from the DVD, the Windows install is not recognised in the list, it's just empty, clicking load drivers I can navigate to the drive - it's there as D:, I can see the Windows directory and files, the C drive is another NTFS partition without a Windows install. As it doesn't recognise the install, startup recovery doesn't work.I then tried bootrec and bcdedit from the command line, eventually I hit a wall with an error that there is no recognised file system - despite it being available in the Load Drivers dialog earlier.

Unable To Enter The Windows Repair On Bootup?

Jan 11, 2012

I am having a bit of an odd issue with my Alienware MX11 laptop. I just restored it to a previous "checkpoint" after just having the error "Failed to save all the components for the file \System32\000052af. This file is corrupted or unreadable This error may be cause by a PC hardware problem." After restoring via Control Panel it is running generally fine. However, my issue is wanting to reset it to factory default settings. I've reset to the Factory Image before with previous Dell laptops, but for some reason the repair menu will not load past the black screen with the grey bar on the bottom with the words "Windows is loading files..." After the bar fills white (very quickly might I add) it returns to being gray and sits there.

Is there another way to return to factory image or a way to fix this?

This laptop is still fairly young (got it last month) and the warrenty is still good.

Windows Failed To Start, Unable To Run System Repair

Jan 21, 2013

I have a Samsung netbook (n145) which has had a few issues starting up over the past couple months - it would prompt to run chkdsk before booting, I would let it run, and it would boot. However, yesterday I got the 'windows failed to start - a recent hardware change may be responsible' error message, and giving the option to try starting windows normally (which fails: there is a flash of BSOD and then screen goes black, and computer restarts, arriving at same 'failed to start' error). The other option is to run system repair, which also does not work: it takes ages to bring up a dialog box that searches for errors, but I have let this run for hours and it remains stuck. Tapping f4 to bring up samsung recovery also results in a stuck screen. Tapping f8 to boot to safe mode does not work either.

My main concern is having a working computer, and I can't really afford costly repairs or a new netbook. I got this one used about 1 1/2 years ago and it has no cd drive/OS boot disk (windows 7 starter came already installed). What should I do? Can I fix the hard drive, or should I replace? I am not at all technically skilled and have limited knowledge but an endless capacity to learn. I called samsung and they suggested I replace the hard drive to the tune of $100-$300 for parts alone, which is too expensive for a $100 netbook.

Windows 7 Home X64 SP1 Repair Disc - Unable To Start Recovery

Nov 10, 2011

I have successfully created a Windows 7 Repair Disc using the "Create a system repair disc" from Control_Panel->Backup_and_Restore

When I attempt to reboot, using the Repair Disc I have just created, everything appears to work - Loads files, Windows wavy flag, etc. however; just as I am about to get into the real stuff I receive the following message:

This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair.

This is exactly the ssame message I get if I boot from the original Window 7 DVD and elect Repair option

This is really important to me as when I use F8 during Post I do not have the options to repair the system here either and it freaks me a bit to be unable to repair the system should anything happen

SFC Unable To Repair Microsoft-Windows-NetFx4-Shared-Deployment

Aug 2, 2011

I've been running disk and system maintenance on my computer, and sfc found some corruption it couldn't repair. It looks like it's .NET framework 4 that has the errors, so I uninstalled it and its updates, then reinstalled it and updated it, but the problem remains. Since that didn't solve it, I'm not sure if that's where the problem is or what to do about it. Anyone know which files I need to look at before I resort to doing an upgrade/repair installation?

Windows Mail And Sfc / Scannow

I have just run the sfc /scannow command, just to see what the result would be.

If you've ported Windows Mail over from Vista like I have, then the scannow command returns the Windows Mail folders back to the default installation settings.

Windows Mail will no longer run.

I had to boot into Vista and copy the program files folder from Vista to Win 7 to re enable Windows Mail. The Windows Mail program store in app data remains unchanged.

When Finished It Says 'Unable To Repair'?

May 24, 2011

Right, i'll try to explain it not to detailed; -Was multitasking between online videos and facebook, when suddenly one of those 'Do you trust 'such and such'' windows came up (with the dimed background). -I cannot remember what it said but it wouldnt let me press 'No'. -So I had to trust it (but I would have pressed 'Yes' anyway). -So when it went away, displayed on my screen was a new window, and again I didn't really look at it, but I defintely remember that it was an error window. Again I pressed yes, and this was because I didn't understand a word of it.This is where my problem comes in; -After pressing 'yes' the computer restarts and comes up with a 'System Repair' screen, tells me that its looking for the problem. -When finished it says 'Unable to repair' or something along those lines, and then followed by 'remove all external hardware (mp3s, controllers etc) and try again' -I do this, doesnt work same screen. -And now i'm stuck. EDIT: Its the 'Startup Repair' option/window in the 'System Recovery Options' window.

BSoD, Unable To Run Repair

Jan 26, 2010

Two weeks ago my computer came down with a blue screen of death. I was running Windows 7 at the time on a fairly new system (little over a year old). Great gaming PC, never had any real issues. I was unable to get past the Windows loading screen, I was unable to load up in safe mode, I was unable to start up from the last known configuration, and I was unable to run a Windows repair. All options failed. I tested the memory to see if my RAM was messed up; RAM was fine.

So I installed a brand new hard drive in today, fresh and clean. I popped in my Windows Vista DVD (I don't have a DVD for my 7) and started installing Windows Vista on the new hard drive. All was going fine. Then it finished installing and immediately I was struck by the BSoD in the same spot as before; couldn't even log in. So apparently it's not a Windows problem, there's a serious issue with my PC itself. What is wrong?

Boot Mgr Missing And Unable To Repair

Aug 22, 2010

I was trying to reclaim some unallocated space on the drive and in the process seem to have lost boot manager, so it won't load Windows. If I put the disc in, it's not able to automatically able to repair because it says the repair disc I'm using is not compatible with the OS I have installed. This is the same disc I used to install Win 7 in the first place. Tried using cmd prompt to reload boot manager manually, and it completes the operation successfully but still says bootmgr is missing at start up.What's scaring me is that if I try to just install Win 7 again (onto the unallocated space), the hard drive just turns off and the hdd light comes on solid. This is when I choose 'Install Now' from the opening screen before selecting partitions etc. I'm typing this post from a spare hdd. The only thing I can think off at this point is the get an enclosure and recover my files; then wipe the hdd in question and reinstall Win 7.

The computer now boots up in Startup repair, which is unable to repair my computer "automatically" and when I then click "View advanced options for system recovery and support" and go to the "System restore" tab and choose a Date and time for the restoration, it tells me that "There is not enough free space to restore the disk". I seem to have no options to try and sort out the missing space on the harddisk, which should be unnecessary because I am pretty sure there is still alot of disk space on the C.
