Nov 2, 2012Recently I had an issue with Chrome (which is now solved), But during solving the error I done an SFC Scan as it was a windows .DLL that was reporting to be in error and the scan found a few files that were un-repairable.I also downloaded a Windows 7 Installation Disc from Digital River; Here.After extracting the required files from the .iso files with 7-Zip, I changed the ownership of them and 'Moved and Replaced' the old files with the new files.
These are the files I replaced;
autochk.exe
blbres.dll
netcfgx.dll.mui
icardres.dll
winshfhc.dll
I then re-booted in safe mode with CMD Prompt and re-scanned with SFC, but the same files are reporting they are in error. Are they important? Is there another way to repair them? I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, I have attached the most recent SFC Scan.

Jun 17, 2012My master boot record has become corrupted, but I can't even get to safe mode command prompt. When you press F8 at boot up and make the selection, the basic drivers start to load but halt at disk. I looked up these errors online, and it seems the consensus is to use the bootrec.exe /FixMBR command, or some flavor of such. But I can't even get that far! I've changed the Boot Order in BIOS so that an Installation DVD will take precedence, but I never get to the windows installation screen. It continues to try to boot from the hard drive and the cycle starts all over. I do have a copy of Acronis Backup 2009, I was able to have it boot, but I didn't have any options to open a command prompt. If this was a desktop, I'd simply open it up and install the drive in a good computer I have and work on it.

Feb 3, 2012I have a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 that just shut down & now will not boot Windows 7. Just goes to black screen w/blinking cursor then goes to 'startup repair' (which I'm postiive this is a virus of somekind) & will not allow me to do anything. Just repeats itself. I downloaded Windows 7 repair to a CD-R, chgd BIOS settings to CD/DVD to boot first, saved changes, and will NOT pull/boot up from disc. I've tried 2diff repair discs, both do not work. 'F8' does not do anything for me, not able to get to 'safe mode'. Computer is only 2yrs old.

Jan 10, 2012I have Windows 7 64b with a Toshiba Portege R700. I cannot create a repair disk, I receive a parameter error. Like it doesn't recognize the CD drive. I tried un-hiding the administrator account and tried with that account but no luck either. I also tried to find the recovery folder with the cmd prompt but nada... it cannot open the boot configuration data store.

Jan 6, 2013I have 2 laptops. One, a Sony Vaio has a working Windows 7 home premium OA 64 bit. And another Toshiba Satellite that HAD Windows 7 home premium OA 64 bit. The hard drive in the Toshiba went fubar and is unrecoverable. None of the sectors are readable except the partition table and SMART says that drive failure is imminent. I installed a new blank hard drive in the toshiba.Can I use my Vaio Windows 7 to get this Toshiba Windows 7 working somehow? I created a repair disc on my Vaio but I don't know what to do next for the Toshiba. No the Toshiba does not have any backup recovery disks made from it but I can make whatever discs with my Sony Vaio. I have not done system recovery on windows since the old NT days. It looks like MS made this harder than it was. All I had to do was use my install disc.

Jul 17, 2010I bootcamped my Macbook Pro 15" (2010) model and installed Windows 7 within a 40GB partition. Shortly after I ran out of space and needed to upgrade my partition. So I created a system repair disc and created a system image. Then I rebootcamped and installed Windows 7 on an 80GB partition. Before I reinstalled and repartitioned my hdd, I booted from my system repair disc to check for functionality. It worked fine and allowed my the option of checking or unchecking the box that reads "Format and repartition discs". Now that I've reinstalled windows 7 AND all the apple drivers using my OS X disc, when I boot from the system repair CD and follow the steps, I cannot uncheck the box asking to format all discs. I can't do this obviously because it would format the entire hdd and delete my OS X partition which has all my stuff backed up on and has all of my data.

I've tried a myriad of repair options with no success, and am now trying a burned repair disc from another windows 7 64bit computer. I boot from the disc, and everything is fine. I hit the first 'next' button. When it reaches the second menu screen that's supposed to show your OS, it just doesnt load. The cursor becomes a little blue circle that shows its loading, but never does. I left it there for at least 10 hrs to no avail.

The disc was successfully created, then I went to boot it up in VirtualBox and I get a Toshiba error: F3-F100-0003. How could this be? I don't think VirtualBox or the repair disc would have anything to do with Toshiba. I created this disc with a factory preinstallation of Windows 7 on a Toshiba laptop. Did Toshiba put a custom disc image on the computer which will be burned to the disc? Does VirtualBox use the host computers BIOS? (maybe not possible because there was a Windows 7 cursor in front of the error box) Does Microsoft use Toshiba technology in their repair discs?

Oct 5, 2011I am currently using windows 7 ultimate x64. I was in the middle of a process restoring my computer to a few days back and suddenly it froze. I did a power shut down and when I turned it back on, I wasn't able to get back into windows. I was brought to startup repair and it gave me errors. 'Boot manager failed to find OS loader'. There was options for restoring, but all my restore points were gone. Recovery wasn't able to find image backup.
"Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically". I was told to go into safe mode to restore, but whenever I enter safe mode, startup repair would take over and shows the same errors, also I read a tutorial using a repair disc ( made a copy of it on someone elses ultimate x64 computer) and I get the 0x00000e9 error if i boot from disc. What can I do? As of now I don't have the installation disc with me. I wont be able to get hold of it until tomorrow. There's a lot of important files in that hard drive and I really cant lose any.

Jun 23, 2012I'm trying to get my nephew's laptop (acer aspire 5749) to boot up (apparently battery ran out during shutdown and not worked since) - on power up it gives the option to repair or start as normal. Repair takes you (eventually) to a grey screen with wavy ribbons at the top, a moveable mouse cursor but nothing else happens (even after leaving it for 24 hours). "Start windows normally" takes you to the loading windows screen, then it reboots itself (and the repair options come up again...).
Have booted with a windows repair cd but the same grey screen/wavy ribbons thing happens again and nothing happens (even after leaving it 24 hours).
Booting into safe mode gives no joy either and stops the boot up process during the drivers loading up. It used to stop at one of the AVG drivers so I used the AVG repair utility (midnight commander) to rename all the AVG stuff but then it just stops at another driver instead (now it stops at classpnp.sys).
I've done the memory check on the AVG disk which passes fine so I'm guessing I need to run some checks on the hard disk itself. I've just downloaded the Ultimate Boot CD ( Ultimate Boot CD - Overview ) but don't know which of the utilities you'd recommend I try first?
Any Downside To Creating A System Repair Disc?

I have a disc with the operating system that came with the computer but this wouldn't restore the computer after a crash without going through other operations such as hard disk partitioning etc.

May 27, 2012Have a HP desktop PC that is acting flaky (a small percentage of the time it hangs), but keeps generating msgs about the HD Imminent Failure. Also has corrupted some files I had. I did run ChkDsk, and it came back with the same message, after several hours of checking. So, I have backed up everything I could, but would at least try to fix if at all possible. Guess some of the sectors are now bad. Have a single CD that came with PC (about 3 yrs old now) that is labeled "HP System Repair Disc", Windows 7, 64 Bit.Would like to at least try it.

Jul 26, 2012I have put the d drive at the top of the list in the boot set up, but the system repair disc doesn't show up and I just get a blank screen. When I open safe mode, some windows files load up and the safe mode screen opens but not with a way to start up windows. Safe mode with networking or command prompt doesn't work either.

The attempt at the system restore ended bad with it not finishing and me having to reboot my laptop. It was stuck at 99% completion for 5hrs. Now when i use 2 different restore discs that i made for windows 7 64-bit from a downloaded iso, i get stuck in the recovery options menu with the blue loop never ending and no OS being loaded to be selected. Also anytime i try to use the eRecovery from pressing ALT+F10 it gets the blue loop there and never loads.

Dec 30, 2012I have a hp G71-449WM Notebook running Windows7 premium 64bit. I can't boot computer the repair disc I have doesn't seem to work. I have no installation disc to fall back on and I can not seem to get it to boot in safe mode. Right now its asking me to find the needed driver in the driver folders. Unless it's called something else I do not see a bootmgr driver. Right now its asking me to connect to the network which would be cool but i don't know what folder they where asking me to type in.
