Windows 7 Does Not Startup When Run Computer And No Disk
Jul 11, 2012
So it was just a regular day when I was about to get on my computer and I turned it on but it didn't take me to a screen where I could log in, instead it took me to a screen that said Launch Startup-repair or start windows normally. I clicked Start windows normally and it took me back to the same screen, I also have tried to press f8 and go to the safe mode screen and it worked but I have no idea what to do because I just want to get back on my computer and play games and talk to friends but I am unable to do so because of this error, It is really irritating

My hp dv3t has been giving a message about checking a disk for consistency every time I reboot(ed) for about a week now, but today it froze after the countdown reaches zero (for bypassing the procedure)nothing I do can get it past this step. What do I do? I tried booting from Safe Mode, it listed a bunch of drivers but then froze.I'm using W7 64-bit Home Premium.

For about the past 2 weeks my computer has been becoming slower and slower on startup, and just general usage. And so today I decided to take some actions to try to make it startup faster and just run faster in general. So i ran msconfig, disabled some startup entries and some non microsoft services. Also, knowing that disabling the boot GUI made the computer startup faster, I disabled that also. Then when I went to restart, I ran into problems.
When I turned the computer on I knew it wouldnt show the bootGUI and so I let it just sit and do its thing. After a very long 15 minutes (longer then it ever had been before) with just a black screen, I held the power button to turn it off. Then turned it back on, and got to the windows recovery window. So I hit f8, went into safe mode, loaded up msconfig, and enabled the bootgui, and restarted.
This time it showed the boot gui. However, once the windows logo was shown for about 15 seconds it switched to a screen that said "Windows is loading files" With a loading bar under it. I had never seen this before so I just let it load at first. As I was waiting for it to load I went and got dinner. Roughly 30 minutes later I went back and it was still stuck at not eve 1/4th of the way. So I held the power button again, restarted, went through the whole process again and then it brought up a message that said the communication with the device was gone. And that it happens when you pull a flash drive out or a hard drive or DVD drive looses power.
I do not think that my hard drive is going back. It is about 5 months old. Along with the rest of my computer. Pretty new. 5 months about.

Processor: AMD FX 8120 8 Core Processor

My home pc is currently running windows xp, it was turned off without shutting down and has since shown a bsod when it is starting up. This occurs in safe mode aswell as regular startup. I was advised to try repairing using my xp disk, or reinstalling the os I cannot find my XP disk but I do have a new retail copy of 7 home premium 64 bit. I was hoping I could fix the problem with that. I have changed the boot priority in BIOS to the DVD drive but it doesn't load, the disk spins up for a few seconds before spinning back down. This repeats for approx 30 seconds before giving up and booting the hard drive.

i have brand a new Gateway NV50A with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I tried to partition the C Drive with 450GB to make another partition using Spotmau 2009. It displayed a window --that the system needs to restart for partioning. So I clicked on yes. After that it tried to restart and just stops on a blank Spotmau screen doing nothing(Spotmau Powersuite 2009 --Is a computer software used for partitioning and cloning). I tried to restart and bypass this window and start windows. But it doesn't work. I don't want to lose any data. I don't have a Windows 7 Installation CD.

After I got my new laptop, I installed antivirus, windows updates, etc, removed bloatware and installed the software that I actually use. Then I created my System Repair disk (single disk). Does this disk include all software and windows updates that were on my computer at the time I created the disk? I have read that System Repair disks will only have the factory settings of Windows 7, but I don't know if this is the case for all System Repair disks or only those that came with the computer and were made before the computer was purchased?I've also read that a System Repair disk could include a system image. Is this true and done by default when the System Repair disk is created?

My computer will not get past the file checking screen where it stops the countdown at 1 and does nothing. No matter what I press it won't boot up, it always freezes and does nothing. I went into startup options, and did every diagnostic test there, all came up 100% Ok, that took over 6 hours. And I still can't get past the screen. I have close to 1000 episodes of tv on there, I really don't want to lose everything...

Its a bit complicated to state my situation, anyways, I have 2 HDD, and the PC won't boot if I removed the old HDD even though I've formatted the old HDD and win7 is on the new HDD.I have 2 physical HDD in PC
(1) 80GB old hdd and noisy. (not SATA)
(2) 500GB SATA hdd and sexy.
My powersupply only supports 1 SATA connection, and I don't have a DVD-Rom.I've unpluged the (2) and replaced it with my dad's SATA DVD-Rom to clean install Win7 64bit on the old (1), after I've finished, I removed the SATA DVD-Rom, I plugged back the (2), installed Win7 64bit ISO again from the (1) on (2), then I organized everything and split the (2) to E: and F:.
Everything's fine until I wanted to remove the old noisy hdd. When I did that, the PC started to bitch on me and didn't want to boot from (2).I've tried to rename (2)'s letter to C:, but it gave me 'invalid parameter' error. I doubt that it'll work by itself since it'll need to rename all the softwares' locations and stuff.so I went through another way, renaming (1) to a random letter like K: and wishing that'll work, I've restarted, shutdown'ed, and unplugged (1), didn't boot from (2).So it left me with only and only solution is by clean install, -but- I can't do it since I don't have an old dvd-rom nor do I have 2 SATA PSU cables... so I go back to the begging and...know that I have only 1 option by installing the win, is by the iso.
Now, what I'm thinking is that there's a possible way(maybe?) that I can replace Disk 0 box by Disk 1 box. Here's a picture to clarify it.So that's it, notice the 2 boxes down there? I'd like to switch Disk 0 by Disk 1 and then remove the old crappy 80gb hdd.

Anyways, every time I try to schedule a "Check Disk" it NEVER starts on a restart. I already did the "sfc /scannow" command on the cmd prompt. In fact it said it was UNABLE to fix some problems. I have attached a file of my "SFC scan log". Inside it says it was unable to fix "Chkdsk.exe" Go figure. Alright, just some extra information. I also think my computer is confused of itself . I mean, it seems to not know if its a 64 bit or a 86 bit! I was told to install a hotfix for "Chkdsk.exe" here [URL]. But it did NOT work. I attempted to install both 64 bit AND 86 bit hotfixes, and yes they were both windows 7 (Chkdsk.exe) hotfixes.
My system specs:
- Toshiba Qosmio X505 Laptop-
Windows 7 64bit (Yes it says 64 bit but I've tried to install other kinds of hotfixes for both 64 and 86 bits and none of them worked!)
Intel Core i5
4gb Ram
Nvidia Geforce GTS 360M

I turned my computer off so it could update. It turned off correctly. The next morning, I turn on my computer, and windows starts, and then configures it's updates. After this windows restarts my computer. When the computer restarted, Windows couldn't start. I tried multiple times, but got nowhere. System restare didn't work, I got errors when trying to restore. (I have tried 2 different restore points.) Startup repair, after a few tries, finally gave me an error. It said:
Root cause found:
Bad hard disk: Bugcheck 7a. Parameters = 0xfffff8a001342c00, 0xffffffffc000009c, 0xdda0b8c0, 0xfffff900c0780000.
Every other test ran without errors. This was somehow caused by windows update, because my comp has worked perfectly until windows installed these updates.

The hard drive on my laptop recently failed and I purchased and installed a new one to replace it. I cloned as much of the data off of the old drive as possible. However, when I go to boot from it, it gets stuck in a startup repair loop. Startup repair doesn't find any problems, but it is unable to boot windows. I installed windows 7 on a new partition see if I could do a repair install to the other hard drive, but that does not appear to be possible. I've ran chkdsk and it does not find any errors. Is there anything else that I should try to be able to run the older install, or should i just start reinstalling everything.

A week ago I started my computer and instead of booting up normally, the Disk Read Error (Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart) screen came up and when I restarted, it would just repeat. I used the Win 7 on my SD card to do a repair and it fixed the problem, but the same thing happened again the next day and the fix didn't work. After that I just gave up and wiped my drive, did a fresh install of Win7. Today I turned on my computer and the same error came up. I restarted and it got to the Starting Windows screen, but it just freezes there. At first I thought the OS was corrupt, but this time the error came up within a week...I'm not sure what the problem is. :S My SSD could be the culprit, but I want to make sure that it's not something else causing this to happen before I go out and buy a new SSD. EDIT: The Windows Repair screen won't come up unless I turn off the computer and switch off the PSU, wait for the light on the motherboard to go off, and switch PSU back on. If I don't switch off the PSU, the Windows Repair screen will never appear and it will just continuously say, "Disk Read Error".

i have an hp touchsmart tm2 tablet with an intel i3 processor. i started having problems after a windows update. at first it was freezing often, then once in a while it said it wasn't an authentic version of windows (but it is), then on random occasions it was telling me i had hard drive problems. Then it started freezing completely after 2 minutes of use, and now it won't even get passed the windows startup screen.Every time i start a scan of any sort it gives me the "scan failed" message, restarts and gets stuck again.

My Windows 7 needs to getting past a blue screen at start-up after I restarted during a slow diskcheck I scheduled. The screen suggests disabling or uninstalling any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. It says to run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart the computer. I already tried safe mode but even that gives me the same blue screen. I assume the computer wants me to continue the disk check it started, but how? Restarting doesn't continue the disk check because it's been canceled with ESC. Is there any way for me to enter a command prompt so that I can type CHKDSK /F? I just want to cancel any problems causing this blue screen, whether that means forcing a disk check somehow or turning it off somehow. The stop number is 0x00000024.

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 Entertainment Laptop. Lately, when I start up my computer, Windows Explorer (Libraries) open automatically. I can close it out with no problem but find it annoying to see it on EVERY startup. I don't know if something happened during a HP or Windows update or if possibly picked up some spyware or malware somewhere. I ran scans with Avast anti-virus, Spybot S&D, and Malwarebytes with nothing serious showing up...just cookies.Everything seems to run properly with no problems but this showing up on startups/reboots, opens on safe mode also. I checked to see if anything in startup folder...Nothing. I checked msconfig settings...can't find anything unusual.[CODE]

I have a toshiba laptop that runs windows 7 32bit home premium and it is not booting properly. When I turn it on t will show the microsoft logo and says "starting windows" but never gets past that point. I have tried all the fixes to no avail including, safe mode (will not boot into safe mode..starts to load but stops at drivers/atipcie.sys and sits there for a minute or two and goes to the repair startup recommended screen. I have tried startup repair and done it many times because I have read it can take several times (it says "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically") I have tried the windows repair disc using system restore but it says no restore points found, even though i know they are on my computer. All of my school files are on this computer and while I have some of there backed up on a external hard drive there are some more recent files that are not. What can I try without a clean install to try and repair this?

Windows 7 home premium
Dell Studio XPS 1645
I7 1.73 GHZ
6 GB DDR3
500 GB Toshiba
I have had this computer for just over a year and it has ran like a top. I was surfing the internet last night when it just shuts off (no slow down no blue screen) and boots into startup repair. It would not repair, just sat in there forever and would not boot into safe mode or anything. It just kept booting into startup repair for hours.
So I hit esc when it booted to startup repair, I go to the dell backup and restore, save my work documents and pics and let it boot to factory fresh windows install from the dell created partition. Windows reinstalls and loads fine, boots in and begins to update successfully and then reboots back into repair. This happens everytime it reboots. After sometime it will boot into windows fine. If I restart I am back into startup repair for half an hour or more.

I have three computers and two 'full install' Win 7 Pro disks. It was a frenzied time in my life. Enough said.Anyway, while sorting out old disks, I realize I don't know which disk goes to which computer. If I ever need to re-do, I would like to know.I have the product keys on the two disk sets, so can I search the registry for those numbers? Then I would know. The bigger mystery will be the odd one, the third laptop without disks. I am certain it has some kind of recovery feature, perhaps in Setup. Not sure. First, I have to figure out which laptop does not have disks

I recently got a virus 2 days ago. It disable my possibilities from accessing any program or internet. I made a mistake by downloading a windows something ware to boot up security. It then crash...so I went to task manager didnt work, which i then went to search and entered msconfig. I then chose safe mode in minimal services. It then says loading files. U see a black screen with thite letters of the files being loaded. Then u see ur mouse cursor, and then it boots up again and same process. So I tried launch startup repair, it launches a repair, but it says it startup cannot repair this computer automactically. I then result into going to tapping f8..it goes to the screen of advanced options. Problem is if i try safe mode it will crash. I dont have a backup, and i dont want to lose my movies of over 700 gigs.

I'm having problems with windows starting upon my PC, however, it only occurs intermittently, but seems more frequent now. When booting, the windows spiral begins then stops, and it reboots to the screen to choose startup repair or start windows normally. If I do startup repair, it doesn't find anything to repair, and reboot usually works fine. If I choose Start Windows Normally, 75% of the time if works fine. When the computer runs, it's fine and everything seems to run normally, I don't get blue screens or other issues. I'm not sure where to find any recorded errors to get more specifics.

Win 7 professional (upgraded from Home) 64bit

Intel Core i5-2500 3.3GHz processor

I'm trying to reformat my computer with the original windows 7 disk but i'm having issues. when i insert the disk and i go to "My Computer" it doesn't show up as a windows 7 disk and has no folders or files when i 'explore' it. i checked the device manager and it shows the dvd rom is working fine, i updated the driver anyways and it said it was already up to date. after i tried rebooting the computer and it doesn't give me the option to 'press any key to start disk' that it normally does. i went into bios and set it to where the dvd rom was first priority followed by the hard drive (nothing), then made it the only priority with all others disabled. it then said "insert disk and press enter", i pulled the disk out then put it back in but it won't boot. i made sure the disk drive was working by inserting another disk in it and it worked fine and booted up and everything. then i tried putting the windows 7 disk into another computer i have and it also booted up normally and worked fine.
