BSOD On Startup & Windows 7 Won't Boot From Disk
Jan 17, 2012
My home pc is currently running windows xp, it was turned off without shutting down and has since shown a bsod when it is starting up. This occurs in safe mode aswell as regular startup. I was advised to try repairing using my xp disk, or reinstalling the os I cannot find my XP disk but I do have a new retail copy of 7 home premium 64 bit. I was hoping I could fix the problem with that. I have changed the boot priority in BIOS to the DVD drive but it doesn't load, the disk spins up for a few seconds before spinning back down. This repeats for approx 30 seconds before giving up and booting the hard drive.

This is my first custom built computer. I've had the same similar problem for the past year. I have continuous problems starting up and BSOD. My computer will not start up properly at times. It also seems like this problem happens if my computer is off, not in sleep mode, for longer than 24 hours. It involves several restarts. I've checked my hard drive and memory for bad sectors and not found anything. I've run both the memtest and the windows memory test several times and found no problems. There was one post I found on a seperate site that talked about ASRock m/b having problem with Ram voltage so I've manually changed the BIOS to be the voltage required for the Ram. Seemed like it fixed it temporarily but quickly started getting more BSOD.Recently updated AMD drivers and was completely unable to get into Windows. When I restored the system to before the AMD updates I was able to get into Windows.

Recently my computer has been randomly just giving me the BSOD. Normally this problem was resolved by a simple restart but tonight about an hour before I posted this, the blue screen sent me back to startup but instead of giving me the usual "Security mode" and Regular Startup. It gave me Startup Repair and normal startup. After clicking normal startup just to see if it would correct itself like normal,my pc instantly BSOD'd, bringing me back to my two options. I've been sitting here staring at the startup repair screen for about an hour now.

I have a problem when I install Windows 7 + XP in different machines. I do this:
1º HDD --> Partition 1 60 GB || Partition 2 60 GB || Partition 3 The rest of the disk || Partition 4 (40 GB)
NTFS NTFS NTFS FAT32
2º Install windows in partition 1.
3º Restore an image of XP in partition 2 and change "boot.ini" to start in second partition.
4º Install GAG.
Everything seems to be ok, but sometimes I get a BSOD on startup with both: Windows 7 and XP.
When I get a BSOD I restart the computer and it usually works.
Any idea?
I have passed MemTest86 and I have no errors.
The error code is 0x0000007B ( ...., ...., ...., ...)

I have a modified HP Media Center Edition. My dad was on it and said that it crashed with a BSOD. When I rebooted it said Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. I inserted the Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate installation disk that I had used to install this copy and the computer booted. Thee black screen with the windows logo showed before the computer did another BSOD. The message read:
"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED-AREA". I booted the computer again and attempted to do a system repair but it said that the problem could not be repaired automatically. I was unable to do a system restore because it said no image was saved. I keep getting the BSOD every time I attempt to boot. I have not recently added any new hardware and there is nothing in the USB ports.

What do I do? I tried booting from Safe Mode, it listed a bunch of drivers but then froze.I'm using W7 64-bit Home Premium.

So it was just a regular day when I was about to get on my computer and I turned it on but it didn't take me to a screen where I could log in, instead it took me to a screen that said Launch Startup-repair or start windows normally. I clicked Start windows normally and it took me back to the same screen, I also have tried to press f8 and go to the safe mode screen and it worked but I have no idea what to do because I just want to get back on my computer and play games and talk to friends but I am unable to do so because of this error, It is really irritating

For about the past 2 weeks my computer has been becoming slower and slower on startup, and just general usage. And so today I decided to take some actions to try to make it startup faster and just run faster in general. So i ran msconfig, disabled some startup entries and some non microsoft services. Also, knowing that disabling the boot GUI made the computer startup faster, I disabled that also. Then when I went to restart, I ran into problems.
When I turned the computer on I knew it wouldnt show the bootGUI and so I let it just sit and do its thing. After a very long 15 minutes (longer then it ever had been before) with just a black screen, I held the power button to turn it off. Then turned it back on, and got to the windows recovery window. So I hit f8, went into safe mode, loaded up msconfig, and enabled the bootgui, and restarted.
This time it showed the boot gui. However, once the windows logo was shown for about 15 seconds it switched to a screen that said "Windows is loading files" With a loading bar under it. I had never seen this before so I just let it load at first. As I was waiting for it to load I went and got dinner. Roughly 30 minutes later I went back and it was still stuck at not eve 1/4th of the way. So I held the power button again, restarted, went through the whole process again and then it brought up a message that said the communication with the device was gone. And that it happens when you pull a flash drive out or a hard drive or DVD drive looses power.
I do not think that my hard drive is going back. It is about 5 months old. Along with the rest of my computer. Pretty new. 5 months about.
System Specs:
Mainboard: MSI 970A-G54
Processor: AMD FX 8120 8 Core Processor

Hardware Information (This is from memory and may not be completely accurate):The computer model is emachines The processor is a dual core Intel Pentium The graphics card is NVIDIA (Can't remember the model.)4GB of RAM installed Software Information (Also from memory, but this is likely to be more accurate than the hardware.): Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Antivirus software is Comodo Internet Security - Also the firewall (product information).I often used Advanced System Care for optimization.-product information.after searching the internet for ways to fix my problem for the past three days, I'm at a complete loss. I was told by a professional that my registry was likely corrupted and that my best bet would be to re-install Windows entirely. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but was prepared nonetheless. So I inserted the installation disk, and wouldn't you know it, the installer wouldn't recognize my hard drive (BIOS recognizes it though). Searching for reasons why this was happening only turned up people saying to make sure it was recognized by BIOS, which I considered a no brainier. When it still didn't work for people in certain threads, they were told to try wiping their hard drives. I've done it. Windows still doesn't want to notice my hard drive. After that, I decided to try and install Windows to an external hard drive. I know this isn't how Windows was designed, and I knew it wasn't how Windows was meant to be used, but I was (to my knowledge) out of other options (Also, the external hard drive has 1 TB of space on it, so I wasn't concerned about speed loss). So, I searched for ways to do that, and I came across PWboot. The first half of the installation worked, the second half did not. I began getting an error that read (bootmgr is missing press ctrlalt+delete to reboot.) Which I did. But that didn't fix anything. So I tried the entire process again, and it didn't work. The "Repair your computer" feature in the windows install disk turned up nothing as well. I can't "Factory Reset" because it can't detect any installation of windows, the startup repair function can't "repair this computer automatically", and none of the other options will even open (with the exception of the command prompt, but most of the commands aren't valid for some reason.)

I have an Acer 3400 desktop. Tonight, its started BSOD.
When I start it - the Windows 7 splash screen appears, after a few seconds, every time, the BSOD appears. The error comes up very quickly (far, far too quick for to read).
I've tried booting from a different HDD (I'd did a Windows clone a while back to a (hybrid) SSD, so tried booting from the original HDD) - but still get the same problem - so I'm assuming not a Windows corruption or HDD problem?

i have brand a new Gateway NV50A with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I tried to partition the C Drive with 450GB to make another partition using Spotmau 2009. It displayed a window --that the system needs to restart for partioning. So I clicked on yes. After that it tried to restart and just stops on a blank Spotmau screen doing nothing(Spotmau Powersuite 2009 --Is a computer software used for partitioning and cloning). I tried to restart and bypass this window and start windows. But it doesn't work. I don't want to lose any data. I don't have a Windows 7 Installation CD.

I've been having this error even after reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 on my desktop. I've done reformatting / reinstalling Windows 7 several times, yet the problem still occurs. I'm thinking of my HDD as being corrupted or messed up. The problem occurred after I accidentally hit the CPU when I was stretching my foot. The screen froze after that. Upon rebooting it, 'Disk boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter' occurs. After I entered the DVD installer of Windows 7, the screen just hangs.

I have been having a bit of trouble with windows 7 lately, namely that it won't start up right. When I boot from the drive normally, it gives me the classic "BOOT DISK ERROR: INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" message.
However, I soon discovered that if I boot from the Windows 7 cd and do not boot from it (By ignoring the "Press a key to boot from CD or DVD..." Windows 7 boots up fine.
I've tweaked my BIOS over and over, but the same problem persists. The drive is brand new and fine. What can I do?

I have no dump files because the comp crashes almost immediately upon reaching the boot screen, and I don't know how to access them without windows explorer. So, I wrote down as much info as I could. I've tried startup repair multiple times, and I've tried system restore, neither work. Startup repair shows that all system tests are successful up to the System File Integrity Check and Repair, then it fails and gives:Error code 0x490 Unknown bugcheck: Bugcheck 7E. 0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, followed by 3 other random ones each time.)System Restore gives error 0x80070067When startup repair fails, and the option to send data appears, the following problem info is shown.

When starting the computer, I keep getting "Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". Nothing works other than putting in the boot disk and hitting the restart button on the tower. Then it will boot up and run fine. But how do I stop it from having to have the disk in order to load? Checked in the BIOS and the hard drive is the first load.

2 months ago, I installed windows 7 pro with no problems at all. Fast forward to today, I decided to reformat because the boot would get stuck in the middle of trying to boot into windows, it wouldn't flash the windows logo. I didn't think much of it so I just reformatted. This is where my real troubles began. So I reinstall windows 7 pro with no problems (the boot disk is in there the cd drive the entire time) I install my programs and what not and install my updates. All 100% Fine. Then I take out the boot disk and restart again... and I get this error message saying:
Nvidia Boot Agent 229.0525
Copyright 2001-2005 Nvidia Corp
Copyright 1997-2000 Intel Corp
Client Mac Address: 00 30 1B BC1F59 GUID: 12973077-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF DCHP....
Then I press escape, then it says this:
PXE-EA0: Network Boot Canceled
PXE-M0F: Exiting Nvidia Boot Agent
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
So the first time I got this error, I just thought, Oh, something must have happened no big deal, so I reformatted again and again. But I kept on getting the same exact error. It'll load into windows just fine when my install disc is in the cd drive, but when I take it out, that error pops up. *My windows is authentic, each time I have been able to validate my copy.* I have tried installing from my hard drive and from the install disc with same error.*
This is my current set up:
Shuttle XPC SN27P2 (Barebone) Comes with motherboard, PSU, and case.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ @2.6GHz 65W
PNY XLR8 GTS 250
OCZ Reaper Memory 4GB PC-6400 DDR2-800

Logitech G15 + MX518 + FuncPad 1030 Blk on Blk
Sony Optirac 18x DVD-/+RW drive
Dual Samsung SyncMaster 225BW 22" LCD Wide Screen Monitors
So how can I get windows to boot up with out having the boot disk in the cd drive...It worked the very first time I installed windows 7 on my PC...

For the last couple of weeks (I was just given the laptop) my friends Dell Inspiron has been Blue Screen of Death'ing on start then rebooting (loop on this) - I was able to see the BSOD when I disabled the "reboot on error" and all I get is the following: Blue Screen STOP: 0x0000007B.I cannot get into Safe Mode (same error) to get any dumps (at least I wouldn't know how)I tried Startup Recovery, Last known configuration, Restor points (many of them), Chkdsk, sfc, and bootsec but nothing seems to resolve the problem... The next step is a re-install from the Dell Recovery drive (I hope because I don't have the origial Windows 7 Dell Install CD),

I've been having increasing problems with my Asus g73jh. Love the performance, but been having random crashes concerning video i assumed. Updated the graphics drivers as well as ran a bios flash on the laptop. The unit always has a problem with being moved and I just moved it for the first time in around 6 months (been using it connected to my screen in living room) to bring to class and it crashed with a page fault error when I arrived at class, then again with another bsod when I got home and unpacked it.
