BSOD At Startup After SP1 Installation?

Windows 7 told me it had downloaded SP1. I set it to install and it said it would take 30 minutes so i walked away from the laptop.
I came back, and now I get BSOD very time i switch it on.for some reason i can't download the system file collection app, but i have zipped minidump.attached minidumpB is without any system config, normal windows startup with graphics adapter disabled, attached minidumpRestrict is with 'selected startup' with windows services disabled and no startups. with graphics adapter disabled. Both of them enter BSOD shortly after startup, after the windows icon has come, and when you would usually expect the wallpaper to appear.safemode works fine.windows 7 professional 32bit. laptop 2 years old. 6 months ago I had mother board fried and when i got laptop back repairer had partitioned hd into C:

Windows 7 Installation Failure On Toshiba Laptop - Run Startup Repair

May 19, 2011

Specs:
Toshiba laptop
Win7 home premium 64-bit
3gb RAM
freshly formatted hard drive
original media from Toshiba with win7

I am trying to completely wipe this laptop off and start fresh. The recovery partition has been removed as part of my search for a resolution for the problem. When I try to install windows 7 on this machine I start by selecting to format the entire hard drive. It completes this and then starts the installation of windows 7. It take a very long time for windows to unpack the files and copy them to disc. After about an hour and a half it starts asking me for the User name/location/time settings, etc.

After that it reboots to startup windows for the first time. It immediately tells me that windows cannot start and startup repair will need to be run or I can select to ignore this and try to start normally. Either option yields no improvement. After working with each of those options I just decided to reformat the drive and start the install again. Even after the drive was wiped and fully formatted I get the same error once the windows installation finishes.

BSOD On Windows 7 Startup - Not HDD?

Dec 10, 2012

I have an Acer 3400 desktop. Tonight, its started BSOD.

When I start it - the Windows 7 splash screen appears, after a few seconds, every time, the BSOD appears. The error comes up very quickly (far, far too quick for to read).

I've tried booting from a different HDD (I'd did a Windows clone a while back to a (hybrid) SSD, so tried booting from the original HDD) - but still get the same problem - so I'm assuming not a Windows corruption or HDD problem?

Windows 7 BSOD During Installation?

Feb 10, 2012

I'm trying to install Windows 7 Home Professional 64bit on my computer. Everything appears to go fine during the custom installation. After the setup gets to installing updates, the computer restarts. However, the computer inexplicably cuts power to my monitor, and after around 4 minutes the monitor will briefly flash back on to display this BSOD:This will flicker for about five seconds before the power to the monitor is cut off again, and another four minutes pass before the BSOD flickers on again. I've tried to use the "Repair Windows" option at the beginning of Setup, but that doesn't work either. It just says Windows can't find anything wrong. If I start Windows normally or on Safe Mode (with or without networking/command prompt) it says that the installation didn't finish and I need to restart the installation. I've tried to reinstall Windows 7 several times now, and all attempts end at the BSOD. It looks like that nvlddmkm.sys file is the root of the problem. This is being installed over a Linux Ubuntu OS, but I've since deleted the partitions. In the past this computer has also had Vista on it with absolutely 0 problems?

Vista Startup Screen On Win 7 Installation

Apr 29, 2009

For some reason, my clean installation on my HTPC still boots with the old Vista startup screen (the green scrolling bar). I really like the new one that 7 has with the floating colors that come together to form the "windows" logo that works fine on my other machines. I did notice that I would always get the Vista logon when my desktop was dual boot, but now that I've eliminated all Vista installations, I get the 7 startup screen - thus I was surprised to see the old green bar show up on my HTPC, seeing as though the only OS that's on it now is Windows 7 7100 (which works GREAT!).

My HTPC has 3 drives in it, one for Media, one for extra storage (is completely empty now) and one 80GB drive for the OS. (Interestingly enough, the "Media" drive (E:) is listed as the "System" drive, even though I did the installation with all the other drives unplugged.

Is there a way that I can fix this so I get the Windows 7 startup screen?

BSOD On Startup & Windows 7 Won't Boot From Disk

Jan 17, 2012

My home pc is currently running windows xp, it was turned off without shutting down and has since shown a bsod when it is starting up. This occurs in safe mode aswell as regular startup. I was advised to try repairing using my xp disk, or reinstalling the os I cannot find my XP disk but I do have a new retail copy of 7 home premium 64 bit. I was hoping I could fix the problem with that. I have changed the boot priority in BIOS to the DVD drive but it doesn't load, the disk spins up for a few seconds before spinning back down. This repeats for approx 30 seconds before giving up and booting the hard drive.

BSOD During Windows 7 Installation - PFN List Corrupt

May 13, 2011

I've recently began building my first custom-built computer, I began with an old Compaq Presario that a friend gave me, and I've pretty much gutted it and replaced all its components. The components I've replaced have included the motherboard, processor, hard drive, RAM and PSU (I'll include the specifics of my set-up below). I've been trying to install Windows 7 but have been getting the blue screen (BSOD) before the installation could complete. The BSOD said "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" towards the top of the screen. I'm fairly sure that I've installed all the new hardware correctly. The following is the new hardware I've installed:

Processor - AMD Phenom II (3.2 GHz)
Motherboard - Ultra Durable 3 (GA-880GM-UD2H)
Hard Drive - Hitachi Deckstar 7K1000.C (1TB SATA)
RAM - Corsair 2 Gigs (2 sticks, 4 Gig total)

Makes me think maybe a power outage corrupted something (i'm not on a UPS) or a windows update went badly. i tried to update several drivers in safe mode but none were succesfull. Catalyst Install Manager says: "Failed to load detection driver"sfc /scannow reported no violations perfmon /report gives me...."Error: An error occured while attempting to generate the report. The system cannot find the path specified. BSOD On Startup, Several Startups And Repairs Required To Boot Windows?

Jul 7, 2012

This is my first custom built computer. I've had the same similar problem for the past year. I have continuous problems starting up and BSOD. My computer will not start up properly at times. It also seems like this problem happens if my computer is off, not in sleep mode, for longer than 24 hours. It involves several restarts. I've checked my hard drive and memory for bad sectors and not found anything. I've run both the memtest and the windows memory test several times and found no problems. There was one post I found on a seperate site that talked about ASRock m/b having problem with Ram voltage so I've manually changed the BIOS to be the voltage required for the Ram. Seemed like it fixed it temporarily but quickly started getting more BSOD.Recently updated AMD drivers and was completely unable to get into Windows. When I restored the system to before the AMD updates I was able to get into Windows.

Startup BSOD With RC1

May 6, 2009

I attempted install of RC1 on a new hard drive and got as far

as "Completing Installation". System reboots and after logo goes

to black screen. No error codes.

Reboot and selected Safe Mode. Win 7 says "Can't complete installation

in Safe Mode".

Reboot, press F8, select Low Resolution. Same results. Black screen.

System configure:

Asus P5Q3 Deluxe Wifi

4 gb DDR3 memory

E8500 Intel Processor

EVGA Nvidia GeForce 9800GT with 512 mb ram

On board Marvel Lan

On board Ralink Wifi

On board sound

1 - 500 gb SATA II hard drive

1 - Sata DVD

This machine runs Windows Vista Business with absolutely no problems.

This machine runs Mac OS X 10.5.6 with Absolutely no problems.

This machine runs Windows 7 Build 7000 with absolutely no problems.

I use a different hard drive for each operating system and I have

a brand new drive that I'm using to install Win 7. The drive I'm

using to install Win 7 can run Win 7 Build 7000 perfectly.

I do a clean install attempt to install RC1 and I get above results.

I reinstalled Win 7 Build 7000 on the same drive and just before boot

it says "Checking Vidoe card performance", then reboots and Win 7,

Build 700 is installed.

On clean install of Win 7, Rc 1 it appears to get to the exact same pont

(although I don't see the message about testing performance), reboots,

and gives black screen.

I have been on a couple of board and the predominant them is BSOD's

at boot for machines running Nvidia graphics. It would appear that RC1 has fouled up the Nvidia drivers.

I can't get into Low Res mode to load the approved 9800gt drivers from

EVGA so I can't complete the installation.

I'm hoping someone from Microsoft sees this and comments.

Any other thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed.
