Blue Screen At Startup After Canceling Disk Check By Manual Reboot
Jul 2, 2011
My Windows 7 needs to getting past a blue screen at start-up after I restarted during a slow diskcheck I scheduled. The screen suggests disabling or uninstalling any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. It says to run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart the computer. I already tried safe mode but even that gives me the same blue screen. I assume the computer wants me to continue the disk check it started, but how? Restarting doesn't continue the disk check because it's been canceled with ESC. Is there any way for me to enter a command prompt so that I can type CHKDSK /F? I just want to cancel any problems causing this blue screen, whether that means forcing a disk check somehow or turning it off somehow. The stop number is 0x00000024.

I do a fresh install of Windows 7 and I have purchased a new hard drive as well as tried it on 2 others. After I do the install odd things happen like long pauses when opening windows like control panel, IE and others. The real trouble begins win I reboot the Pc it then runs a check disk and finds and removes errors. Each time it reboots, check disk and loads windows it takes longer and longer until windows will not boot. I've tried loading all the drivers and none of them. I loading Windows 7 via the disk.

My computer will not get past the file checking screen where it stops the countdown at 1 and does nothing. No matter what I press it won't boot up, it always freezes and does nothing. I went into startup options, and did every diagnostic test there, all came up 100% Ok, that took over 6 hours. And I still can't get past the screen. I have close to 1000 episodes of tv on there, I really don't want to lose everything...

Anyways, every time I try to schedule a "Check Disk" it NEVER starts on a restart. I already did the "sfc /scannow" command on the cmd prompt. In fact it said it was UNABLE to fix some problems. I have attached a file of my "SFC scan log". Inside it says it was unable to fix "Chkdsk.exe" Go figure. Alright, just some extra information. I also think my computer is confused of itself . I mean, it seems to not know if its a 64 bit or a 86 bit! I was told to install a hotfix for "Chkdsk.exe" here [URL]. But it did NOT work. I attempted to install both 64 bit AND 86 bit hotfixes, and yes they were both windows 7 (Chkdsk.exe) hotfixes.
My system specs:
- Toshiba Qosmio X505 Laptop-
Windows 7 64bit (Yes it says 64 bit but I've tried to install other kinds of hotfixes for both 64 and 86 bits and none of them worked!)
Intel Core i5
4gb Ram
Nvidia Geforce GTS 360M

I have an HP Pavilion g series laptop (running Windows 7) that is in a continuous restarting loop. This happened after the computer auto updated (windows update). I do not know what was updated, but now every time the laptop starts up it seems to be in a continuous rebooting loop after the windows logo then a blue flash. I am unable to go into safe mode or any other mode as I keep getting redirected to a page that gives me two options:Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. Startup repair gives me the same results as trying to run in safe mode.

Out of the blue this morning my comp wont start up, W7 blue screens before the login screen appears and instantly reboots. No new hardware has been added. Here is what I have tried.
Change graphics card.
Change RAM.
Memory diagnostic.
System repair.
Safe mode (works).
LKGC.
Uninstall AVS video converter (only new software installed yesterday).
Uninstall Daemon Tools.
System repair from Windows DVD (fails - incompatible version).
All I'm left with is a format and reinstall if I cant solve this - safe mode works fine so it must be fixable!
System specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 SP1
AMD FX 4100
8GB HyperX RAM
HD 6770 Graphics
OZC SSD 120GB
ASUS M5A87 board

I just put together a brand new PC. I used the HDD from my old PC in this one, it has Windows 7 32bit installed on it.I start up the PC, everything sounds fine, I hear one beep, the BIOS screen pops up. Then, I get to the "Windows Error Recovery" screen. If I select start windows normally, I see the starting windows screen, then a blue screen pops up with the usual "problem has been detected...shut down to prevent damage" stuff. The technical information it gives me is: Quote :*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0x80D86A58, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I don't know if this is the correct area to be posting, so if you know where I should post this, let me know, and I'll move it. My friend had me fix his laptop for him, the laptop is a Sony Vaio PCG-384L. Here's what I've done so far. Try to replace Vista with Win7, fail. Won't boot from USB. Hook up laptop hard drive to my desktop, install Win7, success. Return laptop hard drive to laptop, Start laptop but When I start the laptop, it gets just past the "Starting Windows" Animation screen, and then I get a blue screen. The blue screen lasts about 10ms, so I can't get any codes.

I got win7 like a month ago and it was going pretty well. Just last week i got a new second monitor a 22 in dell and it was fine i ran dual monitors before with a 19 in with no problems. Now is when things started to go downhill. I was just surfing the web one day and suddenly my screens went black. I was like wtf for like 5 seconds then everything reappeared with a windows error box saying windows has just recovered from a Nvidia driver failure. I was like ok... i thought nothing of it but the next day when i turned on my computer i got a screen with red lines through it everything loads until it gets to the windows icon and then, boom blue screen of death. I then tried every single repair windows option. with nothing working. Even put in my old hdd witch has windows xp. still blue screen of death. Now i know you may be wondering why i did not try safe mode. See i have some unsigned drivers for my ipod on my pc so I have to click f8 at start up to chose disable driver reinforcement. If I do not my mouse and keyboard do not work. I can only run one f8 command so if i chose safe mode i will not be able to use any mice or keyboards.

Today, my computer was booting up. It was taking a little too long, so i restarted. When i did, right after the loading screen my computer crashed and the BSOD (blue screen of death) error popped up. I was using a program called NoLimits and Google Chrome on my Windows 7 computer. After about 30 minutes or so, all the programs was not responding.
After about 5 minutes or so, the screen shook and lines were on it. After that, I got the Blue Screen Of Death.
I restarted the computer. After the dell logo and below your computer type (Inspiron, Inspiron One etc), (before you see the Windows Error Recovery screen) I got an error message that said "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to reRECOVERY."
When I press Ctrl, Alt and Delete, The computer restarts and I get the same error message. Then, I have to shut down the computer and leave it off for at least an hour.
After an hour, I turned on the computer and I did not get the error message. After I logged in, I scanned for viruses, spyware and malware with the latest versions of all my antivirus programs and no was found. I tried everything I could do and none of them worked. I am posting this thread on my iMac computer with Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.7.

A week ago I started my computer and instead of booting up normally, the Disk Read Error (Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart) screen came up and when I restarted, it would just repeat. I used the Win 7 on my SD card to do a repair and it fixed the problem, but the same thing happened again the next day and the fix didn't work. After that I just gave up and wiped my drive, did a fresh install of Win7. Today I turned on my computer and the same error came up. I restarted and it got to the Starting Windows screen, but it just freezes there. At first I thought the OS was corrupt, but this time the error came up within a week...I'm not sure what the problem is. :S My SSD could be the culprit, but I want to make sure that it's not something else causing this to happen before I go out and buy a new SSD. EDIT: The Windows Repair screen won't come up unless I turn off the computer and switch off the PSU, wait for the light on the motherboard to go off, and switch PSU back on. If I don't switch off the PSU, the Windows Repair screen will never appear and it will just continuously say, "Disk Read Error".

Automatically Fix file system errors 2. Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors). Of course, it tells me that the disk is in use and asks me if I would like to check for disk errors the next time I start my computer. I click yes

I restarted it, and same happened again - checkdisk had apparently been scheduled, ran, and - nothing. Tried restarting several times, but always the same.Hitting any key didn't stop checkdisk. PC won't start in safe mode. Recovery disk doesn't work. Can't get pc started at all.

My computer rebooted while I slept, so I went and checked the Windows Logs for my System. Found out it was KERNEL-Power but that appears to have also taken our router and my brother's computer so I can safely assume something went wonky with the power. However, I did notice a pair of errors, both occurring a little while before the reboot, for bad blocks on my harddisk. Obviously, I decided to do a disk check.I tried to run the first one on my primary partition, C, and for that had to reboot since it holds Windows. The check ran fine for a few moments, but got stuck on a certain point when processing index (Step 2). Rebooting so it would try again got to the exact same point and was stuck.Currently running on the other partition of my main harddisk. So far so good, but I'll update if that one gets stuck as well.
