Use Different Powerline Adapters On Same Network?
Jul 21, 2011
At the moment I'm using Netgear AV200 powerline adapters and need to add 2 more adapters to my setup.Do I have to stick with Netgear or can I use another brand if they are both compliant with HomePlug AV1 standard and the same speed (200Mbps)Edit: Well apparently all powerline adapters are compatible as long as they are the same type (i.e. Homeplug AV or DS2), so I'll be getting more affordable pair of adapters...

My problem is that i bought some 1gb belkin powerline adapters to give me a better connection in my house than my wireless previously did. However i plugged them in and boom "Unidentified Network - No internet access".Now at first i thought it was because i had them plugging in through and extension lead downstairs so i removed all than and plugged them straight into the wall. This didnt help at all.I read some forums about turning of IPV6 cos apparently.

Today, I managed to redecorate my bedroom; where my computer sat on top of a shaky, wooden desk. That desk is now gone, caput, and replaced by a much bigger, sturdier and prettier glass replacement. Before I dissasembled the computer to re-decorate, I was able to browse the internet at ease. There were no problems at all...However, after the new desk was setup - and all wires replaced in their correct slots, I find that I am unable to connect to the internet, or even the house's network! For the past year, I have been wired to the router using a RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. It was plugged into an extension cord, in my room, into the Ethernet port in the back of my computer. Downstairs, it's twin was situated no less than 2 feet away from the router - plugged into the first port. Now, when I boot up the computer, the network notification presents the following message: "Unidentified Network. No network access", and sometimes presents a yellow ! next to it. So, I am reduced to typing on my mother's laptop - which has no problems connecting to the network.I am able to use the ipconfig /release command, but unable to use the /renew - it hangs in the command prompt, then tells me that the DHCP server cannot be located. The IP, beforehand, was reverted to 169.254.223.117 - before all of this, I was 192.168.0.5?

We have just purchased a new computer with Windows 7 at our office and we were told there weren't any wireless network adapters that were compatible yet for 7. All of the other computers are Windows Vista and they have Ativa Wireless Network Adapters that work fine. It will not work with this new computer. Any suggestions of how to get up and running on the Internet?

I am having problems with any type of Network Card or Network USB adapter working with my PC running Windows 7. I had a LinkSys WMP54G PCI card working on this computer about a year ago as I was needing to use a wireless connection but then I didn't use it for 6 months. When I went to use it again, it wouldn't pick up connections at all. Thinking it was an issue with the card, I picked up a Edimax 7612UAn USB adapter thinking it should work out of the box.
When I plug the USB adapter in, the standard Windows driver installation tries to run but an error message occurs stating "Device driver software was not successfully installed" accompanied by "Realtek RTL8191SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB Failed". If I try to install the drivers manually, nothing changes and in Device Manager the following error message is displayed under Device Status "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)".

Whenever I boot up or disable/enable a network adapter it takes 1-3 minutes before I actually connect. After waiting, I'll see the little round circle spinning in the system tray and then i'm able to connect. While waiting for my adapter to work I noticed under tcp/ip settings that my gateway field is blank. If I put it in and go back, it's still blank. When the adapter finally connects it then shows up in the gateway field.Tried uninstalling AV, different drivers for LAN and wireless and reloading OS.

I have this device "WAN Miniport (IKEv2)" under Network Adapters and it's always listed as not working. I disabled it a long time ago but it always comes up as an error when I scan my computer. It won't update the driver, Windows always says that there was an error, and as far as I can see it doesn't do anything but it won't let me remove it even though it isn't working.

I tried USB adapter and where it normally loads it just says it's installed but shows up in device manager. Like thw tealtek nic with yellow triangle on it. If I try an update driver it returns "parameter is incorrect" message. Its not connected and the is no IP using ipconfig. I Lost all my software CDs and emails with serials etc in a house fire last year.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) on a Dell Inspiron 560. I am using a DI-524 D-Link wireless router. I have an Acer Aspire One Net Book running Windows XP Home it is equipped with an internal wireless network adapter. I can connect/communicate with router and access the internet with no problems whatever. However, when I connect an external wireless network adapter e.g. Alpha AWUS036H I cannot get a connection when I disable my internal network adapter. I have also tried the Trendnet TEW-424UB USB external wireless network adapter and the symptoms are exactly the same. If I leave home and use another Wireless point of access I have no trouble connecting using the external adapters which means the problem is confined to my personal home network. I have removed and reinstalled my router, and the network adapters drivers etc. I have uninstalled my Norton Firewall and and disabled my Windows firewall to no avail. I have removed my WEP security features and tried to run it open with no improvement. I have connected the external network adapters on a neighbours computer running XP to see if I could connect to my home network. That didn't work as well. Bottom line is I simply cannot get an external wireless network adapter to work with my router. Yet my internal netbook adapter connects with no problems at all.

I have over 50 virtual networking adapters in device manager, I have posted this question in many forums, and still cannot get rid of these pesky unused extra adapters. I know they have been created by using Virtualbox, and by creating many virtual machines and updating virtualbox. Unfortunately, I have tried uninstalling virtualbox and the drivers all remain in devicemanager. DeviceMgmt also does not allow me to uninstall or delete the adapters, (When I do they just stay there, even after rebooting.)I most likely have to go into the registry and delete them, but they are in so many different places there, I need to know the correct place to delete them. I have a bet that this is the forum where I will get the answer for this even though I have posted in virtualbox forums, technet, MSDN, superuser, serverfault, and stackoverflow.

Anyways my problem is that my vaio is running Windows 7 64bit and suddenly one morning NONE of the network adapters were working. No WiFi, no ethernet, no nothing. I figured something just happened to the drivers (happened before) so i'd just reinstall them...except this time I'm hit with:
Code :This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
I have tried everything short of a full restore. I tried downloading the drivers straight from Sony, just the driver files for Atheros, I can't do a restore point since I don't have any from before the problem. I have searched everywhere for a working solution but haven't found anything yet. I would like to avoid sending it in.....it's still under warranty but I don't have a Sony store near me and I'm gonna be going out of town in a couple weeks..

In Windows Home Premium 64bit we encounter this problem on a machine after trying to uninstall a norton product manually. The norton software led to serious problems of randomly emerging BSODs.As system uninstall did not work we researched a tutorial on how to manually uninstall the soft.t can be found here Enterprise Support - Symantec Corp. - How to manually uninstall the Symantec Endpoint Protection client from Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 2008 R2 64-bitEverything worked smoothly until the last three steps of the routine failed (12.-14We can not uninstall/delete the wireless network adapters as described. After clicking "uninstall" there is the window that asks for confirmation (to uninstall) but after clicking "yes" the device manager window simply refreshes - and the device remains unchanged.

The comp started BSOD'ing out of nowhere, a new adapter I think called ISATAP or something like that shows up under network adapters in device manager which had a yellow exclamation icon. (Code: 31). Disabling or uninstalling its drivers resulted in BSOD's. Googled around and found the only way to fix it was to delete some registry entries, so without backing up the registry I deleted some keys. I don't remember which keys but the image above is the result. I got Ubuntu live booted up and using it to post this because my Win 7 installation obviously can't connect to the Internet.
*I tried reinstalling drivers (Marvel Yukon & Belkin), disabling and enabling stuff but nothing seems to be happening.
*Got some registry fixing tools or whatever, still the same.

I recently uninstalled all of my wireless network devices, these were a simple Wireless Card which was in a PCI slot and a wireless USB adapter, I uninstalled them from the device manager, and now under "Network Devices" I have about 32 'Microsoft 6to4 adapters' all with the yellow triangle on them, and then also there are 2 Microsoft ISATAP adapters, again with the yellow triangles. also, when I click on them, they say "This device cannot be started (error code:10)"And also now, my fast ethernet port has a yellow triangle on it too, but windows cannot find a driver.

I've got a user that has a laptop with two external HP monitors. One monitor is connected via VGA connection to the laptop - the other is using an HP Display Link adapter over VGA and/or DVI. The screen that is connected to the Display Link adapter keeps stalling. He will move Internet Explorer over to that screen, try to maximize the window, and it freezes, but if he moves another window, like Windows Explorer over to that screen on top of it then Internet Explorer will start to respond.
Things I've tried: updating drivers on the integrated graphics, updating drivers on display link adapter, replacing display link adapter, changing usb ports, changing refresh rates on the monitors, and alternating between DVI and VGA connection on the Display Link adapter. Oh, and also disabling Windows Aero.

However it could not find a newer driver than the one I am currently using under Vista, version 6.5.645.100, dated 1/31/2007.

Just be careful if you want to use X-64 version of Windows 7 and are connected via a WIRED LAN connection.
A lot of laptops use the VIA VELOCITY gigabit ethernet adapters. These are mainly 32 bit and WON'T WORK on x-64 (including x-64 VISTA)
VIA Velocity Gigabit Ethernet Controllers - VIA Technologies, Inc.
Wireless usually works and you can use a PCI express adapter or a usb==>lan adapter in these cases.
If you have a Networking card similar to those listed in the Via velocity link then don't even THINK about trying to find 64 bit drivers for these.
