View 1 RepliesI have a MEDION MD96850 Laptop. Ever since the battery died, I have been running the laptop on AC power. This has been fine for my work. However, since yesterday, the laptop just won't turn on. The power supply is on but the laptop won't start. I have tried 3 power adapters but it's the same result.
One of my hinges is damaged and I can see a wire inside - maybe this is the cause of the problem? I read that on some laptops there's some switch underneath the touchpad that does something but I don't have a clue.
Due to my stupidity, I delayed in backing up much of my work and now find myself desperate to access it again. I really don't want to lose all the work.
I was trying to create a scheduled task via command line (schtask.exe) and I want it to run regardless of whether the user is on battery power or on AC power. I created an event and it runs fine on AC power but when I try it on the battery power, it doesn't work. I checked the task in the task scheduler and saw in the condition for my event the following options checked:
- Start the task only if the computer is on AC power
- Stop if the computer switches to battery power
After I create the task via command line, I can't modify the settings. Either way, I MUST only use the command line to create/modify the tasks. Is there any way to modify this variable? Or am I stuck on only having the task run on AC power?
I recently uninstalled all of my wireless network devices, these were a simple Wireless Card which was in a PCI slot and a wireless USB adapter, I uninstalled them from the device manager, and now under "Network Devices" I have about 32 'Microsoft 6to4 adapters' all with the yellow triangle on them, and then also there are 2 Microsoft ISATAP adapters, again with the yellow triangles. also, when I click on them, they say "This device cannot be started (error code:10)"And also now, my fast ethernet port has a yellow triangle on it too, but windows cannot find a driver.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a user that has a laptop with two external HP monitors. One monitor is connected via VGA connection to the laptop - the other is using an HP Display Link adapter over VGA and/or DVI. The screen that is connected to the Display Link adapter keeps stalling. He will move Internet Explorer over to that screen, try to maximize the window, and it freezes, but if he moves another window, like Windows Explorer over to that screen on top of it then Internet Explorer will start to respond.
Things I've tried: updating drivers on the integrated graphics, updating drivers on display link adapter, replacing display link adapter, changing usb ports, changing refresh rates on the monitors, and alternating between DVI and VGA connection on the Display Link adapter. Oh, and also disabling Windows Aero.
Prior to purchasing a Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade for $220, I downloaded and ran the compatibility/upgrade adviser program and found no problems. While running the Windows 7 Install disk, the installation stopped dead with the message that I must update the driver for my Adaptec 29160N SCSI hard disk storage controller. However it could not find a newer driver than the one I am currently using under Vista, version 6.5.645.100, dated 1/31/2007.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust be careful if you want to use X-64 version of Windows 7 and are connected via a WIRED LAN connection.
A lot of laptops use the VIA VELOCITY gigabit ethernet adapters. These are mainly 32 bit and WON'T WORK on x-64 (including x-64 VISTA)
VIA Velocity Gigabit Ethernet Controllers - VIA Technologies, Inc.
Wireless usually works and you can use a PCI express adapter or a usb==>lan adapter in these cases.
If you have a Networking card similar to those listed in the Via velocity link then don't even THINK about trying to find 64 bit drivers for these.
Which wireless ''N' usb adapters are compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. The linksys WUSB600N ver. 1 will not connect any faster than 54mbs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have just purchased a new computer with Windows 7 at our office and we were told there weren't any wireless network adapters that were compatible yet for 7. All of the other computers are Windows Vista and they have Ativa Wireless Network Adapters that work fine. It will not work with this new computer. Any suggestions of how to get up and running on the Internet?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with any type of Network Card or Network USB adapter working with my PC running Windows 7. I had a LinkSys WMP54G PCI card working on this computer about a year ago as I was needing to use a wireless connection but then I didn't use it for 6 months. When I went to use it again, it wouldn't pick up connections at all. Thinking it was an issue with the card, I picked up a Edimax 7612UAn USB adapter thinking it should work out of the box.
When I plug the USB adapter in, the standard Windows driver installation tries to run but an error message occurs stating "Device driver software was not successfully installed" accompanied by "Realtek RTL8191SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB Failed". If I try to install the drivers manually, nothing changes and in Device Manager the following error message is displayed under Device Status "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)".
My problem is that i bought some 1gb belkin powerline adapters to give me a better connection in my house than my wireless previously did. However i plugged them in and boom "Unidentified Network - No internet access".Now at first i thought it was because i had them plugging in through and extension lead downstairs so i removed all than and plugged them straight into the wall. This didnt help at all.I read some forums about turning of IPV6 cos apparently.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I boot up or disable/enable a network adapter it takes 1-3 minutes before I actually connect. After waiting, I'll see the little round circle spinning in the system tray and then i'm able to connect. While waiting for my adapter to work I noticed under tcp/ip settings that my gateway field is blank. If I put it in and go back, it's still blank. When the adapter finally connects it then shows up in the gateway field.Tried uninstalling AV, different drivers for LAN and wireless and reloading OS.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Radeon HD5450 graphics card with 1GB of DDR3 memory, it has three outputs: VGA, HDMI and AVI (ATI Radeon).
I have had 2 monitors plugged in for a while using the VGA and HDMI ports as I didn't have a AVI lead. Today I got a lead and hooked up a third monitor, instead of all three working only the AVI and HDMI monitors are working. I went onto the monitor layout and my VGA monitor is shaded out.
In the catalyst control centre that came with the card it says its disabled and to extend onto another monitor has to be disabled. I found this thread [URL] which talks about getting the third monitor running when using an adapter. I want to know can I get this working without a adapter.
Upgraded to windows 7 ultimate 64bit from vista ultimate 64 bit. That didnt fix it. I'm desparate. I've tried everything I can find. It has a realtek 8169 nic on board sabertooth x85. I tried USB adapter and where it normally loads it just says it's installed but shows up in device manager. Like thw tealtek nic with yellow triangle on it. If I try an update driver it returns "parameter is incorrect" message. Its not connected and the is no IP using ipconfig. I Lost all my software CDs and emails with serials etc in a house fire last year.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) on a Dell Inspiron 560. I am using a DI-524 D-Link wireless router. I have an Acer Aspire One Net Book running Windows XP Home it is equipped with an internal wireless network adapter. I can connect/communicate with router and access the internet with no problems whatever. However, when I connect an external wireless network adapter e.g. Alpha AWUS036H I cannot get a connection when I disable my internal network adapter. I have also tried the Trendnet TEW-424UB USB external wireless network adapter and the symptoms are exactly the same. If I leave home and use another Wireless point of access I have no trouble connecting using the external adapters which means the problem is confined to my personal home network. I have removed and reinstalled my router, and the network adapters drivers etc. I have uninstalled my Norton Firewall and and disabled my Windows firewall to no avail. I have removed my WEP security features and tried to run it open with no improvement. I have connected the external network adapters on a neighbours computer running XP to see if I could connect to my home network. That didn't work as well. Bottom line is I simply cannot get an external wireless network adapter to work with my router. Yet my internal netbook adapter connects with no problems at all.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have over 50 virtual networking adapters in device manager, I have posted this question in many forums, and still cannot get rid of these pesky unused extra adapters. I know they have been created by using Virtualbox, and by creating many virtual machines and updating virtualbox. Unfortunately, I have tried uninstalling virtualbox and the drivers all remain in devicemanager. DeviceMgmt also does not allow me to uninstall or delete the adapters, (When I do they just stay there, even after rebooting.)I most likely have to go into the registry and delete them, but they are in so many different places there, I need to know the correct place to delete them. I have a bet that this is the forum where I will get the answer for this even though I have posted in virtualbox forums, technet, MSDN, superuser, serverfault, and stackoverflow.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAnyways my problem is that my vaio is running Windows 7 64bit and suddenly one morning NONE of the network adapters were working. No WiFi, no ethernet, no nothing. I figured something just happened to the drivers (happened before) so i'd just reinstall them...except this time I'm hit with:
Code :This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
I have tried everything short of a full restore. I tried downloading the drivers straight from Sony, just the driver files for Atheros, I can't do a restore point since I don't have any from before the problem. I have searched everywhere for a working solution but haven't found anything yet. I would like to avoid sending it in.....it's still under warranty but I don't have a Sony store near me and I'm gonna be going out of town in a couple weeks..
I've done a lot of searches using variations of the above title and came up empty or just plain missed the answer.I'd like to know, if it is not asking too much, the following points:
1. What exactly is the function of Link State Power Management in the Power Options Advanced Settings, PCI Express?
2. What are the implications of using the options available:
a) Off.
b) Maximum power savings.
c) Moderate power savings.
d) Which option is the best selection for my Dell laptop.
I use my PC for audio production and I have a few external controller devices that are USB powered, for example a midi keyboard. I recently had to build PC due to a theft....long story short after building the new PC I've noticed that my USB buses have continual power to these external devices after I've powered down the PC. My old windows 7 PC did not do this. Is there a setting I can change to shut off power to the USB buses when I power off the PC? Or is this a hardware issue?
