Today I bought an HDMI cable in order to have a dual monitor with my lg 42 inch tv. I updated my drivers and tried unplugging, restarting, etc. Under my control panel when I tell it to extend it will say unable to save display settings. I run a radeon 6950?
View 3 RepliesI want to save the Default Gateways in Advance TCP/IP Settings for my network adapter. I used the following sequence to set the values:
1. Open Adapter Settings (LAN Properties).
2. Select IPv4 and click on Properties.
3. Click Advance.
4. In the Popup select to add Default Gateways for both my Wired and Wireless network.
5. Click OK to close all open windows.
When I again open the settings, the changes in Default Gateways are all gone. The default gateway for both my wired and wireless network are same and both are connected to internet. I want to prefer wired over wireless whenever it is connected. I already tried changing Interface Metrics with no use at all. I searched the internet and got the information to select the default gateways with proper metrics.
Two build 7000 machines in my homegroup... One works fine and I can check/uncheck media to share in the homegroup. The laptop, however, is a different story. When I check a library to share in a home group (pictures, videos, music, etc) then click "save changes" nothing changes. When I can back into my homegroup settings, there are no check marks.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP pavilion DV8 laptop, and a logitech wireless USB mouse, as well as the standard laptop touch pad.
So, I can change my mouse settings in the control panel, as well as my logitech app, and as it stands they intermix slightly (The control panel effects the logitech app's sensitivity). Basically I turn my control panel speed settings up (all the way, I shouldn't have to touch the touchpad 5 times to navigate across the screen), and on the logitech app I turn the sensitivity down most of the way (any faster and its a bit squirrely to use).
The problem is, whenever I restart my computer the control panel mouse settings revert back to being REALLY slow, and it is getting a bit annoying to have to go into the control panel every time I start up.
I can't save changes to home-group settings. When I try to share libraries and printers, printers is already checked, I check other options, like pictures, music, etc. I then click save changes and exit. The problem is when I go back in, it hasn't saved my settings - all the boxes except Printers are unchecked again.

Hence, I upgraded it with two new RAM Modules of Transcend make (2 X 4Gb) recently. However, I haven't found any noticeable performance improvement post this huge upgrade. Also, when I check the Virtual Memory settings, it shows that "Currently Allocated - 8054 Mb" and "Recommended - 12081 Mb". The check box on "Automatically allow windows to manage paging file size" is checked by default. Every time I go to this screen, and even though I don't change anything, it prompts me to save the setting and restart windows.

I have found that when I try to save my completed movie "For high-definition display" it will not be savedThe saving process stops sometimes at 13%, 27% and even 99%. My computer freezes completely and I have to switch it off and on again manually. However, it will save in "For computer" setting, with no difficulty. View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new laptop. Samsung brand. It has Windows 7 Home Premium on it. I know this is a known issue with Win 7. I calibrated my monitor and saved the settings but when the computer hibernates, goes to sleep, or shuts down the display settings revert back to the factory settings. I've heard that the "Intel Common User Interface Module" aka "igfxpers.exe" is the culprit. However, most users have found that if they disable it in the startup tab of "msconfig" this solves the issue. But, this program is not listed under my startup tab. Does anyone know anything about this issue and how the heck I can find this program and get rid of it?

When I look under windows display settings or NVIDEA settings there is not an option for a second monitor any more. There used to be. Now that I got a VGA spliter, there is not. I have tried a combination of everything from direct computer to 3 different monitors, all work perfectly, but when I attached 2 monitors with the spliter, all I get is the same image on each monitor.
When I hit detect, nothing happens, both monitors are identified as #1. Have rebooted, have updated, have done just about anything I can think of. Why would windows not show a second monitor option now?? Spliter and monitors work perfectly with the laptop and second older/slower computer. But on this better computer, faster and just should be a hell of a lot better computer, I am not getting the option for a second monitor.

View 0 Replies View RelatedAbout 2 days ago I noticed that all of a sudden my scroll and progress bars, and all of the prompt windows (save, open file, etc.) changed to a Windows 98 style! I didn't think anything of it until I tried to save an image through Firefox and it wouldn't bring up the prompt to choose a location. Initially I thought it to be exclusive to Firefox, but later I had worked on an Word document and when I tried to Save As... the exact same thing, a flash indicating that it tried to open the location window and that's it. Every program does the exact same thing, no way to bring up a location menu or change directory.

This may be a result of a hang in Easy Transfer. Easy Transfer was sitting for hours saying "1 minute" remaining. I terminated the program. The hang was in the administration section.
I have a new Dell laptop running W7. The screen tint is far too blue and I have found the controls in the display section where I can modify the colours (and gamma etc).
I can adjust everything with no problems, but much to my annoyance, when I boot up again, all the settings have reverted back to the factory, too blue settings.
(I think that the settings even get lost if the laptop powers itself down through the various hibernate/sleeps etc; although I'm not that familiar with all of those options so am not sure.)
So, my question is how can I get W7 to remember these settings?
I have a dual head setup that works ok. My issue though is that whenever I do a reboot, I have to go into display resolution settings and re-enable "extend" displays.
Is there a way to make this persistent? It's just annoying doing a reboot and having to spend time re-organizing your desktop every time.
I installed the latest update for my graphics card and i tried opening a game and when it starts it auto minimizes and opens personalization>display settings and shows me a specific resolution different from my 1440x990 depending on game so i click ok for the game but when i maximize it just opens up again after a few tries it does work but during play if i minimize i can not maximize again and have to end task from task manager and all my game data not saved is lost.

We've tried rebooting and disabling the secondary, external monitor, as well as disconnecting that monitor. She reset the computer from a restore point and that seemed to fix the display, but the computer still thinks it's in extended display mode and won't let that change. The Win + P hotkey also didn't seem to work.
