Upon rebooting, my computer went into "preparing your desktop" and failed, and made a temporary profile. I system restored to get backto my original settings.Now, my taskbar is empty for quick launch, and changing settings in the file explorer does not save anything.Additionally, all my system fonts seem to be different, they don't look smooth any more. No setting changes I attempt in explorer save at all.I found a guide about changing some settings underKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/ (some folder) but the only folder that exists there is SessionInfo.

Feb 15, 2011I have a Dell Inspiron 15 with Windows 7 laptop. Recently, it has been "acting up". I will be online using internet explorer and be writing an email, looking at a web page, or on facebook, and the page just closes by itself. At first I thought I must be hitting something to make the screen close, but the problem continues. It's really a pain when you're searching for something, and you've followed several links, only to have the screen you want to look at close for no reason at all. What's up with that?

May 30, 2011I have 3 users on my computer. When I click on the IE icon on my desktop, I get the error Internet Explorer can't display the page. But when I type a website into the search bar, I can get on just fine. The other 2 users on the same computer can both click the ie icon and get on the internet right away without the error message. Aug 30, 2012I've had this problem for years, since first upgrading to Internet Explorer 9 and Windows 7.
After 2-3 weeks, Internet Explorer starts randomly choosing to disclude sites from its history, before reaching a point where it simply stops recording history. Yes, I HAVE all the settings properly adjusted so that it does not delete history upon exit, has an entire gigabyte of disk space reserved just for history, 400 days set to keep history, and it still ends up being a bi-monthly thing of me having to delete the history.

Feb 27, 2012I recently re-installed Windows 7 from some rescue disks, and everything, with the exception of Internet Explorer is now running fine! Basically whenever I load a web page in IE it crashes after a short time (5 - 10 seconds), and I then have to exit with CTRL + SHIFT + ESC (Task Manager)! Inside task manager I actually have to terminate the IE processes, as IE won't exit if I attempt to shut down through the Applications tab.
Initially IE8 was installed from the rescue disks, and I have since upgraded to IE9, but both versions are behaving just as badly as each other.
I have even tried to start IE in "No-Add Ons" mode from the "Accessories" menu - however after a short time it still crashes. Now I have no add ons enabled, I have deleted everything (in IE history), scanned for viruses (there are none), and I am wondering if there is some way of repairing IE?
P.S.: I have installed other browsers, but I actually need IE for running some Microsoft Online Services, all other browsers are only supported in "lite" mode!!!

- Windows updates (Win 7sp1 and IE9.0.9) A new window opened in Internet Explorer displays a blank white page
- Microsoft Fix it 50191
- Re-register the DLL Nothing happens when you click a link in Internet Explorer
- Check your default web browser setting
- Change the file types that Internet Explorer opens by default
- Use the Internet Explorer No Add-ons mode
- Reset Internet Explorer settings
- Reregister the necessary Internet Explorer DLL files
- Use System Restore
The problem remains unsolved. Everything else runs fast and perfectly on my computer, included Mozilla Firefox. However I don't like when something doesn't run very well.
White Page At Startup Unable To Get Rid Of It?
Feb 18, 2013Last week I was on the internet on my Dell Studio laptop. I opened a new tab and all of a sudden the entire screen was filled with a 'internet cannot display the page' page. I know this page appears when you are browsing the net and loose connectivity, however, after restarting my laptop, the home screen appears and a couple of seconds later disappears and the white page comes up. I canot access the menu bar or anything else when the page appears. I have pressed nearly every combination i can think of to get rid of it and it stays there. there is no 'x' box at the top to close it. The only thing that worked was when i pressed ctrl+alt+delete and this brought up the task manager option, however when i cliscked on start task manager it appeared for a second and then disappeared, like its going behind the white page.

I didn't think anything of it until I tried to save an image through Firefox and it wouldn't bring up the prompt to choose a location. Initially I thought it to be exclusive to Firefox, but later I had worked on an Word document and when I tried to Save As... the exact same thing, a flash indicating that it tried to open the location window and that's it. Every program does the exact same thing, no way to bring up a location menu or change directory.

Oct 25, 2011I want to save the Default Gateways in Advance TCP/IP Settings for my network adapter. I used the following sequence to set the values:
1. Open Adapter Settings (LAN Properties).
2. Select IPv4 and click on Properties.
3. Click Advance.
4. In the Popup select to add Default Gateways for both my Wired and Wireless network.
5. Click OK to close all open windows.
When I again open the settings, the changes in Default Gateways are all gone. The default gateway for both my wired and wireless network are same and both are connected to internet. I want to prefer wired over wireless whenever it is connected. I already tried changing Interface Metrics with no use at all. I searched the internet and got the information to select the default gateways with proper metrics.

Apr 9, 2012i have an intel i5 2400 cpu, combined with 4gb ddr3 memory. mobo is dh67bl - revision 3. no gpu installed.power supply is via corsair vx450.problem i been facing:
1) bsod saying that a clock interrupt wasnt recd. [url]
2) bsod saying: page fault in non paging area. couldnt grab a screenshot for this.
3) display randomly goes off for a split second and reappears.. but the color of the panes go blue (i havent chosen blue. my setting is for clear pane.)[url] this error solves itself after random number of hours/mins
4) display vanishes for a split second and reappears, and a small balloon at the bottom right corner prompts that the display driver had stopped working.
5) system plain hangs/stops responding. randomly happens.. but more so while on Internet, or after hrs of it idling, i come back to the comp and try to scroll the content onscreen.sometime it revives from the stuck state as if nothing happened, sometimes i have to give it a cold boot.
6) while reading forums with blue bands.. the blue bands kinda form blurry bars which stretch till the end of the screen. i tried to grab a screenshot but the screenshots were clean. the bands moved as i dragged the image about.
7) also, my comp's display went off one day and within a second came back with a blue-ish hue. it restored itself but again has gone back to blue-ish.
other relevant information:
windows 7 x64
no other os resides/installed on system
full retail version
os was installed in july.

The last software I installed was IE7. Anyways, my pc was working fine until a few weeks ago when MSN did one of its auto updates. Since then, I am having loads of problems accessing stuff like Lovefilm, Facebook, ebay etc where I have to sign in. Nov 18, 2011I have tried every conceivable way to get Explorer to let me view my empty drives under Computer. They show when there's a disk in them. They show in the reading pane, they just won't show up as empty drives in the Nav pane. I have tried deleting the upper and lower filters in the registry. Un checking the "Hide empty drives" in Folder options, adding a (1) to the registry settting "Hide drives with no Media". That setting seems to change itself back to (0) all the time. I am totally at a loss getting the empty drives to show themselves in the Nav pane.

I reinstalled IE9.The BEX64 error does not show up on attempting to reset to default in IE9.
