View 9 RepliesI have 3 users on my computer. When I click on the IE icon on my desktop, I get the error Internet Explorer can't display the page. But when I type a website into the search bar, I can get on just fine. The other 2 users on the same computer can both click the ie icon and get on the internet right away without the error message. My computer is just a month old.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently re-installed Windows 7 from some rescue disks, and everything, with the exception of Internet Explorer is now running fine! Basically whenever I load a web page in IE it crashes after a short time (5 - 10 seconds), and I then have to exit with CTRL + SHIFT + ESC (Task Manager)! Inside task manager I actually have to terminate the IE processes, as IE won't exit if I attempt to shut down through the Applications tab.
Initially IE8 was installed from the rescue disks, and I have since upgraded to IE9, but both versions are behaving just as badly as each other.
I have even tried to start IE in "No-Add Ons" mode from the "Accessories" menu - however after a short time it still crashes. Now I have no add ons enabled, I have deleted everything (in IE history), scanned for viruses (there are none), and I am wondering if there is some way of repairing IE?
P.S.: I have installed other browsers, but I actually need IE for running some Microsoft Online Services, all other browsers are only supported in "lite" mode!!!
A new window opened in Internet Explorer displays a blank white page. I tried all these fixes:

- Change the file types that Internet Explorer opens by default

- Reregister the necessary Internet Explorer DLL files
- Use System Restore
The problem remains unsolved. Everything else runs fast and perfectly on my computer, included Mozilla Firefox. However I don't like when something doesn't run very well.
I just installed the mandatory Windows 7 system updates in early November and now my IE and Firefox cannot pull a page on any site. I have turned off my personal software firewall and reconfigured my router. My wireless devices work perfectly but my desktop does not want to work. The network icon states that the Internet is connected but won't access it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy computer shut down on Thursday sometime due to windows updates. When I came to work on Friday I was unable to log into one of my home based business work programs. I was told to uninstall Flash player and reinstall. It worked for a bit, but each time a script pulled up, it said "windows cannot display this webpage' and if I hit F5 I would get the script most of the time. On Sat, I was unable to get into IE at all, it would say DNS Server not responding.
I ran unplugged modem/router and reset it, rebooted pc and nothing worked. Sunday, I went online at DELL and ran a system checkup and everything passed, went to my program and it said Java was not installed on this pc. I uninstalled Java and reinstalled it and program still says the same thing. I did find a blog on google that said I needed Java 1.5 which will run along side the updated Java. Can't find 1.5 anywhere. I also did a system restore to Thursday and now my IE screen is blank, just a plain white screen. I need IE for my job, Google works fine.

my IE9 will not display the Hotmail signin / login page (blank page). Tried various methods; delete the cache, reinstall IE9, etc....BTW, this happened after I uninstalled KIS 2011 from my PC.
Initially, the same problem with Firefox but managed to solved this by deleting all the certificates (Options>Advanced>Encryption). Firefox is now able to display the Hotmail Sigin Page.
I can view other sites in IE8, and I can view hotmail and live.com in firefox, but keep getting this error on hotmail and live.com in IE8 (final) "cannot dispaly web page".
Tried resetting and restarting IE8, same issue.
I have multiple @hotmail.com accounts for personal and business purposes. I used to be able to see them all on the sign in page (very useful!) but now that has suddenly disappeared and there is space for only one email address (plus for some reason I have to type the entire address!) every time I want to access an account.

The network shows as connected and I can ping and tracert websites and IP's succesfully, but Firefox, IE, Windows Live Messenger and any other application cannot get connectivity. I have tried starting in Safe mode with networking and still have the same problem.
I have reset and bypassed my router and tried a direct connection to modem after a reset and still the same issue. I can connect no problems with another computer on this network and right now I am able to access the internet using Windows XP Mode in Windows Virtual PC. Any suggestions?

I will be online using internet explorer and be writing an email, looking at a web page, or on facebook, and the page just closes by itself. At first I thought I must be hitting something to make the screen close, but the problem continues. It's really a pain when you're searching for something, and you've followed several links, only to have the screen you want to look at close for no reason at all. What's up with that?

This used to work, but no more ( don't know what might have caused it). I ran "sfc /scannow". SFC reported that there were corrupted files that could not be repaired or replaced and to look at CBS.log. I did but can make no sense out of it.

I load firefox, same issue. I load Crome, it worked for 1 day then same issue. It used to login in fine last week. It logs in fine on my 2 other PCs and my Kindlefire.I have checked for viruses with Avast and A-Malware Bytes in safe mode - nothing. These 2 pick up 98% of stuff. Personally I dont think its a virusn IE9 - Deleted browsing history, cookies, temp internet files, everything under the Geneeral/Browsing History section. Expected behavior from Windows Explorer. You copy a file into a folder, you want it to automatically get into order in whatever sorting order you choose. Current behavior of my Windows Explorer, when I copy a file into a folder or if I rename a file and want Explorer to update I have to hit F5 (Actualiser (in french)). In explorer, I select the "Details" view and I add a column to see the "From" attribute. Nothing shows in this column.
I have network drives mapped on my machine (Win 7 Pro 64bit) and any time I open Explorer while not connected to my companies domain, the icons take anywhere from 15-20 seconds to fully display.
As soon as I disconnect all the drives, the icons display immediately.
I have a newish PC with an crucial ssd on C: and a WDC Black on D: but for some reason when I open some directories in explorer on D: it takes ages to display the contents, upto 30secs in some cases. And thats for a directory with only 150 items. I can see the green bar in the address bar filling up whilst I`m waiting for it to display
