View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. The first few days I had it, Internet Explorer worked fine. Then it malfunctioned. When you double click the IE shortcut it would open for a split second then close. When you went to the Start menu, Programs, it would do the same. I downloaded and installed IE 8 64 bit from Microsoft's website. When I double click the IE 8 64 bit shortcut it opens fine! The problem is, I can't set IE 8 64 as my default browser. I get a Windows error message that says you cannot set IE 8 64 as your default browser. So I can open IE 8 64 manually but any link I click tries to open IE 8 (32 bit presumably) which still opens then immediately closes.
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy Microsoft Word trial recently ran out so I started using OpenOffice, which I actually like. The only problem is is that I don't have a margin on OO. Whenever I used MW my printed pages would be indented nicely. I have been getting in trouble with teachers since I am supposed to have 2.5-3 pages and OO gives me 2 pages. I need to set up the margins and indentations on OpenOffice

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed the mandatory Windows 7 system updates in early November and now my IE and Firefox cannot pull a page on any site. I have turned off my personal software firewall and reconfigured my router. My wireless devices work perfectly but my desktop does not want to work. The network icon states that the Internet is connected but won't access it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use a Zebra 2844 (UPS label printer) to print address labels for customer packages. After a lot of effort and loading, unloading drivers, I finally got it to print UPS labels (when I call it the UPS printer using their driver) and labels from Endicia (when I call it the Zebra 2844 and use their driver)However, whenever I print a label on this printer regardless of what I call it, out of Word (office 2003 version) it always says the same thing, that it will print outside the margins and do I want to go ahead. I say yes and it prints fine, except it always then prints a second blank page. This doesn't happen if I print to you laser printer but we need the sticky labels to attach to the boxes. This worked perfectly with the exact same set up in Windows XP (same printer, same version of Word), so it has to be something related to Windows 7. I have tried resetting the margins, messing around with the printer preferences

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently re-installed Windows 7 from some rescue disks, and everything, with the exception of Internet Explorer is now running fine! Basically whenever I load a web page in IE it crashes after a short time (5 - 10 seconds), and I then have to exit with CTRL + SHIFT + ESC (Task Manager)! Inside task manager I actually have to terminate the IE processes, as IE won't exit if I attempt to shut down through the Applications tab.
Initially IE8 was installed from the rescue disks, and I have since upgraded to IE9, but both versions are behaving just as badly as each other.
I have even tried to start IE in "No-Add Ons" mode from the "Accessories" menu - however after a short time it still crashes. Now I have no add ons enabled, I have deleted everything (in IE history), scanned for viruses (there are none), and I am wondering if there is some way of repairing IE?
P.S.: I have installed other browsers, but I actually need IE for running some Microsoft Online Services, all other browsers are only supported in "lite" mode!!!
A new window opened in Internet Explorer displays a blank white page. I tried all these fixes:
- Windows updates (Win 7sp1 and IE9.0.9) A new window opened in Internet Explorer displays a blank white page
- Microsoft Fix it 50191
- Re-register the DLL Nothing happens when you click a link in Internet Explorer
- Check your default web browser setting
- Change the file types that Internet Explorer opens by default
- Use the Internet Explorer No Add-ons mode
- Reset Internet Explorer settings
- Reregister the necessary Internet Explorer DLL files
- Use System Restore
The problem remains unsolved. Everything else runs fast and perfectly on my computer, included Mozilla Firefox. However I don't like when something doesn't run very well.
How can I find "Internet Options in my Windows 7? I need to change my font and color. But when e-mailing, I have to change it with each message! I hate windows 7!

I load firefox, same issue. I load Crome, it worked for 1 day then same issue. It used to login in fine last week. It logs in fine on my 2 other PCs and my Kindlefire.I have checked for viruses with Avast and A-Malware Bytes in safe mode - nothing. These 2 pick up 98% of stuff. Personally I dont think its a virusn IE9 - Deleted browsing history, cookies, temp internet files, everything under the Geneeral/Browsing History section. Did a disk cleanup, put the site inthe trusted zone, turned off popup blocker just in case, Cleared SSL state, Reset IE9. Zippo
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to get two web pages displayed at once on my windows 7 system!! What I want to avoid is enabling the Aero Snap? I thought I overheard my IT guy say that it could be done without it? I have had problems with Aero in general. Like I wanted to do the cool thing with my files where they blow one after another through the screen like a deck of cards and you can stop to look at one or you can keep it going? How do I enable that feature? I think it makes the files like glass tiles and you can just see through them as they move along. Then I want to be able to have the two web pages at the same time on the screen? Is it true that you can not view secure pages when you use this feature?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBased on the Windows 7 feature where you can press Windows Logo + Right (or left) Arrow key to maximize an application window to the right (or left) half of the screen, is there a way to maximise windows to either the top or bottom half of the screen? I know that stacking windows is one option, but that only works to the top quarter of a screen, and affects all other open windows, so that's no good unfortunately. The main app I want to use this with is putty so that I can see the full width of commands when using SSH for example.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAll of my audio files from ripped CDs in my Music Library seem to be in two folders for each artist or CD(ex. Adele and Adele-copy). Each folder contains part of the whole CD(tracks1,3,5... and 2,4,6 etc.) with some overlap. This makes for complicated and difficult music management and transfer having 45 gigs of music files. I usually use the Zune software for ripping CDs and playing on Zune player. Now I want to transfer music to my phone, and I have twice as many folders as I should.

Recently I opened the folder and the look has changed. On the general tab I no longer see "home page", "temporary internet files", etc. I only see, browsing history and appearance options. I wanted to change my home change in the address box, but it doesn't appear. How can I change it back to the way it use to look? I've scanned my laptop for potential viruses using AVG-anti-virus and Malwarebytes anti-malware....both came up clean.
