Internet Explorer / Java - Windows Cannot Display This Webpage
Dec 17, 2012
My computer shut down on Thursday sometime due to windows updates. When I came to work on Friday I was unable to log into one of my home based business work programs. I was told to uninstall Flash player and reinstall. It worked for a bit, but each time a script pulled up, it said "windows cannot display this webpage' and if I hit F5 I would get the script most of the time. On Sat, I was unable to get into IE at all, it would say DNS Server not responding.
I ran unplugged modem/router and reset it, rebooted pc and nothing worked. Sunday, I went online at DELL and ran a system checkup and everything passed, went to my program and it said Java was not installed on this pc. I uninstalled Java and reinstalled it and program still says the same thing. I did find a blog on google that said I needed Java 1.5 which will run along side the updated Java. Can't find 1.5 anywhere. I also did a system restore to Thursday and now my IE screen is blank, just a plain white screen. I need IE for my job, Google works fine.

I have just installed windows seven on a new H/D but when I try to get to a web site [Any website] it comes up " Windows explorer cannot display this page " even though I have a internet connection and then it says "explore has stopped working " there is nothing wrong with the internet connection because my laptop works fine ,I can't use another browser because I can't get to the website to download it .

I have 3 users on my computer. When I click on the IE icon on my desktop, I get the error Internet Explorer can't display the page. But when I type a website into the search bar, I can get on just fine. The other 2 users on the same computer can both click the ie icon and get on the internet right away without the error message. My computer is just a month old.
I have Windows 7 Home Premium, and every time I go to Facebook it freezes. Now it has spread, it froze twice when I came to CNET. Only had this for 4 weeks, not a computer genius.

I have been having an issue on several computers lately where IE8 will not display a webpage. As soon as I close the troubleshooter the page loads right up. This has happened on new computers and old. I just installed windows 7 professional on a brand new computer and IE8 is having the same exact problems. What does this mean?
As soon as my son boots his Windows 7 64-bit PC, he get a full screen window on the Desktop saying "This program cannot display the webpage". I tried to open Task Manager, but it closes immediately.

I go to netflix on regular computer through media center and it lets me in no problem I select my movie and when I try to play the movie it goes to a screen that says "this program could not display the webpage" and it looks like an explorer window. When I try it on the second computer i log in and it lets me select the movie but when I hit play it tells me that I need to log in and I enter my user name and password then it goes all black like if its about to stream but then I get the same error message.I have included a screen shot of what it looks likeI talked to netflix customer support and they pointed the finger at microsoft
I was using my PC (just using Firefox and Videopad Video Editor) and suddenly my screen turned into what looked like a 'full screen' Internet Explorer screen (i.e. what it looks like when you press F11), and I can't close it, can't Alt-Tab to any other applications, can't CTRL-F4 to close it, and when I restarted my PC, as soon as I got into Windows 7 this dratted screen appeared again, and I can't do anything with my PC at all.
Pressing CTRL-F4 seems to close it for a split second, as I briefly see the desktop (for about a tenth of a second) and then this bloody screen reappears. I can't get Task Manager to appear either, it seems as if this screen overrides everything else on my system and takes precedence.
I have Windows 7 64 bit (legal) and have been using it for about eight months, with no problems like this, up to now. Is it a virus or something? Or an overactive program, trying to 'call home' or something?
Windows Explorer ( not internet Explorer) starts up when I turn on my computer ( without my request). This just started to occur yesterday. It must be in some startup menu . Where do I look for this to remove it ?
I tried to install java several diffrent ways, but none of them seem to work.
I downloaded and tried to install the 64 bit version offline and online. I downloaded and tried to install the 32 bit version offline and online. Restarted computer multiple times.
Sometimes it says "Java cannot be installed due to your current internet settings" Or sometimes it says "Thank you java has been installed successfully- then when I go to java website I click on "do I have java?" Its always NO
Yeah. I tried basiclly everything, Im about to smash it
Oh. Its an Acer ASPIRE 5534. Win 7 home premium, 64bit.
i've tried everything but on my windows 7 laptop, i've tried to install java and when it comes to installing it says that theres an error due to my internet options what do i do?
Ok, I have looked everywhere and tried several "solutions" to get windows to recognize where Java.exe so it can run .jar files.I'm running windows 7 64-bit with java 1.6 32-bit installed. And when I try to install craftbukkit I only get errors.I have copied these errors so you can view them at...So I searched all over google and tried to go to my computer, advanced settings, path and add the path there but i still get the same errors.I've been all over the mine craft and bukkit forums but no one there can explain how to fix it
I have a problem with Windows Explorer, I searched for a valid solution besides reinstalling or creating a new user (profile), both solution that I find unacceptable but to no avail. Expected behavior from Windows Explorer. You copy a file into a folder, you want it to automatically get into order in whatever sorting order you choose. Current behavior of my Windows Explorer, when I copy a file into a folder or if I rename a file and want Explorer to update I have to hit F5 (Actualiser (in french)). Since my Windows in is french I have some difficulty to find the correct wording to conduct the search.
Whenever my display turns off, all my windows in explorer closes even when I am moving files. I don't really know how this happened but it is very annoying. Also, my windows explorer crashes like 5 times a day. It says that windows explorer is not responding and I have to wait for it to refresh but there are also times when I can't open it anymore then I'll have to restart my computer.
I have already done a full virus scan and system file checker but there were no threats or errors found.
When trying to save a file, the save dialog will not display the contents of a folder or drive in the content pane. When I click on a drive or folder in the navigation pane the content pane only displays the 'No items match your search' message. When I try to save the file in the Documents folder I get a 'The file name is not valid' message. This happens in some programs(Notepad++, Firefox, IE7) but not others(Notepad). This also happens in Firefox, Chrome and IE7 when I'm trying to upload a file to the internet(either my webserver(a Joomla CMS) or Soundcloud.com(A music sharing site).
In Windows Explorer or My Computer, go to Tools | Folder Options. On the View tab, check "Display the full path in the address bar," and click "Apply to all folders." My Apply to all folders is greyed out!!!!Also Open Windows Explorer, Click View, Toolbars -Unlock if necessary, then tic/check the Address Bar Toolbar option, relock Toolbars.
I have been having problems with my new computer running Win7 Ultimate and have had to do an upgrade install. Now IE8 and Incredimail are unable to connect to the internet although Norton, Windows, System Mechanic, etc.,can all download updates
I have network drives mapped on my machine (Win 7 Pro 64bit) and any time I open Explorer while not connected to my companies domain, the icons take anywhere from 15-20 seconds to fully display.
As soon as I disconnect all the drives, the icons display immediately.
Got a problem with IE. I get a window saying that IE has a problem and gives an option to let the internet find a solution. This does not seem to help any. I can get out of it and keep going , but the same window will keep reappearing.
Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. Windows Explorer issue, not Internet Explorer. In my folder tree, there was a folder named "Documents" which contained no information at all. Note: I am not referring to the Libraries folder named "Documents!"All of my files are in custom-named folders, each of which is preceded by my 3-letter, initials caps. But, after deleting that redundant, empty folder named "Documents," Windows added a new bizzarre folder which I cannot get rid of. It has no information in it; it has no other right-click options except "Expand," and clicking that option doesn't do anything at all. There is no information in that folder.
I have an issue I've never been faced with. Have a coumputer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. There is no internet explorer icon in the start menu or anywhere else. I installed IE9 and rebooted the machine, still no icons. I looked in prorgram files and program files (x86) and each have a folder for internet explorer.....but neither have a exe file. I went into control panel and clicked on programs and features and then turn windows features on and off. IE9 is listed there. I removed the check and applied. It goes through the motions of uninstalling but when it's done it says it could not remove it all. I rebooted but when I went back in IE9 was still listed and checked. I tried to uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller Pro.......but it does not show IE9 as being installed
