View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a folder using the tree in the left pane the position of the selected folder change. It's like the layout of the tree pane is not working fine. Maybe they autoscroll in order to display all the child's folders but I don't like this. When the folder i want to open is in the middle of the pane (vertically) it moves often to the bottom and i can't even see the child's folder, and some time it move the opened folder to the top of the pane
I just would like to have the thing working as it's in XP. When we open a folder, this one don't move and the children appears under this one.
I have just upgraded to Windows 7 and have discovered an annoyance with Windows Explorer. When I expand a folder's contents (tree) by clicking on the arrow icon, the entire contents of the left panel jump to the bottom of the visible screen (rather than just the subfolders expanding). The annoyance is that every time I expand a tree in the Explorer, I also have to scroll the contents of the left panel back up (because it jumped down). For example, in Vista, if I expanded a folder tree, only the sub folders would expand and move downward.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I click on one directory I get "Windows Explorer has stopped working". It used to be fine but crashes WE every time now. A colleague suggested right click and reset the properties, but right click causes the crash too.I can open it remotely from an XP system, and I can navigate it in a DOS box so I know the files are all still good.Disk check says "No problems".Sophos anti-virus scan finds nothing. Malwarebytes scan finds nothing.None of these crash or report corruption.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAs an example, The Itunes directory is in My Music. My Music is in a Music library, so the file details in explorer include album, #, etc. Within Itunes is the Apps directory and other data where "album name" doesn't make sense. I want it to display as a non-music directory. There doesn't seem to be any way to set the default columns displayed in a directory within a Music Library without changing how all the directories are displayed. Nor does there seem to be a way to remove a Music Library sub-directory from being considered as a Music Library member.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Windows Explorer, I searched for a valid solution besides reinstalling or creating a new user (profile), both solution that I find unacceptable but to no avail. Expected behavior from Windows Explorer. You copy a file into a folder, you want it to automatically get into order in whatever sorting order you choose. Current behavior of my Windows Explorer, when I copy a file into a folder or if I rename a file and want Explorer to update I have to hit F5 (Actualiser (in french)). Since my Windows in is french I have some difficulty to find the correct wording to conduct the search.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever my display turns off, all my windows in explorer closes even when I am moving files. I don't really know how this happened but it is very annoying. Also, my windows explorer crashes like 5 times a day. It says that windows explorer is not responding and I have to wait for it to refresh but there are also times when I can't open it anymore then I'll have to restart my computer.
I have already done a full virus scan and system file checker but there were no threats or errors found.
My computer shut down on Thursday sometime due to windows updates. When I came to work on Friday I was unable to log into one of my home based business work programs. I was told to uninstall Flash player and reinstall. It worked for a bit, but each time a script pulled up, it said "windows cannot display this webpage' and if I hit F5 I would get the script most of the time. On Sat, I was unable to get into IE at all, it would say DNS Server not responding.
I ran unplugged modem/router and reset it, rebooted pc and nothing worked. Sunday, I went online at DELL and ran a system checkup and everything passed, went to my program and it said Java was not installed on this pc. I uninstalled Java and reinstalled it and program still says the same thing. I did find a blog on google that said I needed Java 1.5 which will run along side the updated Java. Can't find 1.5 anywhere. I also did a system restore to Thursday and now my IE screen is blank, just a plain white screen. I need IE for my job, Google works fine.

When trying to save a file, the save dialog will not display the contents of a folder or drive in the content pane. When I click on a drive or folder in the navigation pane the content pane only displays the 'No items match your search' message. When I try to save the file in the Documents folder I get a 'The file name is not valid' message. This happens in some programs(Notepad++, Firefox, IE7) but not others(Notepad). This also happens in Firefox, Chrome and IE7 when I'm trying to upload a file to the internet(either my webserver(a Joomla CMS) or Soundcloud.com(A music sharing site).

View 8 Replies View RelatedI can't open a specific folder to display the content with Explorer.I'm running Windows 7 7601.win7sp1_gdr.120830-0333 Home Premium. The folder is on a secondary HDD where I also have the system folders Libraries and Download. All the system and program files are on my primary SSD C: drive. What doesn't work:With my regular account, on that specific folder, I can't display the content via Explorer. I can't either get it when I try to open it from inside applications such as Notepad++, PotPlayer, Media Player Classic, VirtualDub. What works:If I enter the name of a file in the File name field of the Open command of the application, the file will open normally. When I point to that folder with the Windows command line console, and use the DIR command, it will display the complete list of files. Finally, when I look at the folder from the Admin account or from a Guest account, Explorer will display the content.instantaneously.
Things I did:I have checked Show hidden files in Folder Options.I did a Check Disk, which didn't find any error.I also ran: ATTRIB -s -h mbrp /s /d (Where mbrp contains the directory causing problem) hoping that somehow, some System Attributes could be removed.FWIW, it seems this happened as I was trying to run an Avisynth64 script with new installation of MPC-HC64.A this point, I am out of ideas. I know that switching to a new regular user account would solve the problem, but I see that as a last resort.
A colleague told me that he used to sync his notebook with his desktop PCby syncing a tree (in explorer?) and he was able to tell the sync to excludefiles below a ceratin directory (to reduce the amount of files being synced). That was under Windows XP.Now, he says, in Windows 7, he doesn't have this feature to stop at a certain directory level (depth)
