I have a new Dell laptop running W7. The screen tint is far too blue and I have found the controls in the display section where I can modify the colours (and gamma etc).
I can adjust everything with no problems, but much to my annoyance, when I boot up again, all the settings have reverted back to the factory, too blue settings.
(I think that the settings even get lost if the laptop powers itself down through the various hibernate/sleeps etc; although I'm not that familiar with all of those options so am not sure.)
So, my question is how can I get W7 to remember these settings?
i just nstalled windows 7 64 bit ultimate on a custom build. i have video at the start then with the windows circle spinning the video just goes to black. the system works good in safemode.
I have an Asus G50vt-x5 laptop (with windows 7 now, originally had vista), and my old battery was losing charge so quickly. So, i got a new one. I did everything you were supposed to, charged it up, discharged it, charged it again, etc.For some reason, i can just be playing or doing things on my laptop, and it'll randomly just lose ALL power. For example, i was playing a video game the other day and was at roughly 65% battery, and suddenly the computer just instantly died. And i don't know if any of you have seen an asus, but there is a little light on the panel with the power button for like a "quick start", and that light is ALWAYS on. but when the laptop died it wasn't. Which i take it means absolutely no power was going to the laptop.
My mom's laptop is stuck in extended display mode and doesn't give the option for any other display mode. We've tried rebooting and disabling the secondary, external monitor, as well as disconnecting that monitor. She reset the computer from a restore point and that seemed to fix the display, but the computer still thinks it's in extended display mode and won't let that change. The Win + P hotkey also didn't seem to work.
I dont know why my display settings are all pixelly for some reason. You can see it most in the background. What could be causing this? It happens a lot. Is my video card messed up? its a GTX 570.
I just bought a new laptop. Samsung brand. It has Windows 7 Home Premium on it. I know this is a known issue with Win 7. I calibrated my monitor and saved the settings but when the computer hibernates, goes to sleep, or shuts down the display settings revert back to the factory settings. I've heard that the "Intel Common User Interface Module" aka "igfxpers.exe" is the culprit. However, most users have found that if they disable it in the startup tab of "msconfig" this solves the issue. But, this program is not listed under my startup tab. Does anyone know anything about this issue and how the heck I can find this program and get rid of it?
Today I bought an HDMI cable in order to have a dual monitor with my lg 42 inch tv. I updated my drivers and tried unplugging, restarting, etc. Under my control panel when I tell it to extend it will say unable to save display settings. I run a radeon 6950?
I have two monitors - I use one primarily. My normal setup in Display Settings is "Show Desktop only on 1" - this works fine.If I switch to "Extend These Displays" my desktop moves over to the second monitor and my main monitor shows the desktop background image with no icons. How do I get the opposite to happen? I want my normal desktop to stay on monitor one and just the background to be extended onto monitor two.
Windows 7 Home Premium - Fully updated as of today NVIDIA GeForce 9200 - Fully updated driver to the newest one released
When I look under windows display settings or NVIDEA settings there is not an option for a second monitor any more. There used to be. Now that I got a VGA spliter, there is not. I have tried a combination of everything from direct computer to 3 different monitors, all work perfectly, but when I attached 2 monitors with the spliter, all I get is the same image on each monitor.
When I hit detect, nothing happens, both monitors are identified as #1. Have rebooted, have updated, have done just about anything I can think of. Why would windows not show a second monitor option now?? Spliter and monitors work perfectly with the laptop and second older/slower computer. But on this better computer, faster and just should be a hell of a lot better computer, I am not getting the option for a second monitor.
I have a dual head setup that works ok. My issue though is that whenever I do a reboot, I have to go into display resolution settings and re-enable "extend" displays.
Is there a way to make this persistent? It's just annoying doing a reboot and having to spend time re-organizing your desktop every time.
I installed the latest update for my graphics card and i tried opening a game and when it starts it auto minimizes and opens personalization>display settings and shows me a specific resolution different from my 1440x990 depending on game so i click ok for the game but when i maximize it just opens up again after a few tries it does work but during play if i minimize i can not maximize again and have to end task from task manager and all my game data not saved is lost.
I have a Dell XPS 15 (L502X) laptop withIntel Core i7-2630QM processor6 GB DDR3 RAM15.6" Full HD LED Screen2 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT540M with OptimusMy display was a little 'warm'. I mean that what should appear as white didn't appear white, instead it appeared creamy (i.e. according to RGB scheme, the red content in the display was more than what is required.)To fix this, I did thisRight Click Desktop > Personalize > Display > Calibrate Color and then adjusted the red and green bars to make the color settings proper. Now, the display is as I want it to be.The problem is that when the PC reboots or when an UAC window pops up, the settings are lost and again my display becomes 'warm'/creamy. I've tried going to Control Panel > Color Management and doing what this says:
I am very curious to know how to connect a laptop display to another laptop display. I have an old laptop and a new laptop with windows 7. I did some extended displays to other monitors. But any one have any idea about extending to a Laptop display from another Laptop.
For some reason Windows 7 (Home Premium, 64-bit) has recently stopped displaying Unicode characters correctly. I know its a Windows issue, not specific to a certain program, because the problem appears on Asian characters and symbols like the stars in my song ratings across various programs like foobar2000, Mp3Tag, and iTunes. I don't think they work anywhere; I just happen to notice their absences (replaced by ugly square placeholders) in my media-related programs. One interesting thing is that restoring my default font settings via Control Panel appears to fix the problem every other time I restart (ie, I might be able to get Unicode working correctly if I always restore the default font settings before restarting or rebooting my PC - but that is heinously annoying).
The only possible cause I can think of is that I have had some programs to modify the Windows UI such as GDI++ to make the fonts Mac-like (decided ClearType was better rather quickly :P) and pieces of Stardock's suite including programs like WindowsBlinds, IconPackager, etc. I somewhat recently uninstalled all of them, but I didn't notice the problem right away, so I am not sure if they have anything to do with it.
I am rebooting "Windows 7" more than any prior version of Windows for one simple reason. When my computer comes out of a sleep mode and I click to log on to an existing session, the keyboard can no longer be used. Often when I attempt to type on the keyboard, the mouse is then lost as well.
If I instead log on and then immediately do a restart - everything is fine. So, now I have fallen into the habit of restarting every time. It takes less time for me to do that then getting something started with the mouse and then freezing the system by trying to type something. So I just accept the restart and avoid the reboot. But, essentially the restart is a reboot.
Very frustrating! Then a few times I have gone directly to the Microsoft website and they do not even mention the issue in their database. It's like no matter how many people mention the same "windows 7" "loses keyboard", Microsoft just does not care. It goes against all the other facts that say "Windows 7" is the most stable version of Windows.
When I start my computer with drivers installed my monitor loses the signal when I should be receiving a log in screen. I can boot up fine in safemode and/or if I'm using Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. To my knowledge I do not have an onboard graphics card as there is nothing to plug an avi or vga cord into aside from my graphics card. I should also mention I tried using an NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT and experienced the same problem.
Windows 7 keeps minimizing every hour to desktop no matter what is running. I ran process explorer just before the time it should lose focus and only one program launched a minute before it does so, taskhost.exe. I tried to run with all processes killed (including explorer.exe) and that also gave good result, it didn't minimize, however I know not which of the processes does this.I first noticed the problem as screensaver quits on it's own after a while (despite the fact it has to quit on click or key press)
I keep losing LAN connection within 1 minute after my computer wakes from sleep modeI cannot ping the router, the DSL modem and anything outside.Windows "repair connection" tool fixes the problem until the next time I put computer to sleep.have Windows 7 32 bit, integrated Intel LAN card. Can't blame McAfee because when I uninstalled it and replaced with Microsoft Essentials this behavior didn't change
I don't know if this is a harware issue with my SSD, disk controller (motherboard), power supply or something else, but depending on what I'm doing, the computer will operate for a few minutes then freeze and eventually reboot itself. When it reboots, I get the "Bootmgr is Missing" message until I cycle power a couple of times. I've tried booting from the Windows 7 repair disk and typing "bootrec /fixboot", but the problem eventually returns.I can't get a full image update from Acronis because it hangs in the middle of the image, even if I say to ignore bad sectors. If I run the HDTune diagnostic on the SSD, it seems to always stop after about 3 minutes and always in the same spot, at 15,432MB. Is this a problem with the SSD or the disk controller?

I recently had to take my computer in to the local computer shop to get it fixed because every time I logged in I was getting the blue screen of death (even in safe mode),Basically he just restored windows to factory settings. However I noticed a user folder called boinc_master and it just contains a bunch of empty folders. Apparently its some Berkeley program that uses your computer to run calculations and I assume that when you re install windows it asks if this is ok to do and he pressed ok or something. I don't want to use my CPU to run Berkeley calculations. As a result, I deleted the folder. I can't really find any other information on my computer about it (typing in boinc in the search brings up nothing now) so I just want to know if there a way to make sure that I know my computer is not being used for such calculations?
Also I have no idea how he re installed windows to factory settings on my VAIO laptop. I tried doing a search but can't figure out what did to get factory settings. I was planning on reinstalling to factory settings again to try to undo this. system restore only lets me restore to an earlier or time or reinstall windows (using a disk which I don't have). Any reccomendations or ideas on what he did to reinstall to factory settings?
my son forgot his password for his laptop. He has an Acer with Windows 7.how to restore the computer to factory settings? I was told that is what we needed to do in order to log back on.
the opening screen comes on that reads acer and then gose to a diffrent screen thats blue then black screen and reads the following no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
