Windows 7 keeps minimizing every hour to desktop no matter what is running. I ran process explorer just before the time it should lose focus and only one program launched a minute before it does so, taskhost.exe. I tried to run with all processes killed (including explorer.exe) and that also gave good result, it didn't minimize, however I know not which of the processes does this.I first noticed the problem as screensaver quits on it's own after a while (despite the fact it has to quit on click or key press)
I am playing a game, that game is a full screen game being displayed on one monitor, and I have itunes open in the other monitor. The song changes, and I dont like it, I can free my mouse, and move it to the other monitor, but if I click anything, Windows sees that as me wanting to focus the desktop, so it minimizes the game.
I've had this issue for a few days now. Any game I play or any movie I watch, if its on full screen, it will lose focus or minimize to desktop within 1-2 minutes. There are no error messages, and I can't find a single thing to help me. Yesterday, I downloaded a registry cleaner, and after it cleaned the errors, I could use full screen apps very well. Then I shut my computer down for the night, and when I woke up today, and started the computer, the problem started as well. [code]
Most programs or games I use if I walk away or leave it untended long enough windows returns to the desktop if I'm in full screen mode. Its even done it a few times while I was playing certain games Warcraft 3 in specific if that helps.
In both IE Opera and yahoo messenger if the cursor touches either side or top/bottom of screen window is immediately minimized I went to Microsoft.com to reload drivers and software for my Microsoft 6000 wireless and there has been an update and it is now the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center which is installed on my computer
I don't know if this is the correct section. I'm new to this. There are other threads with similar problems however my PC does not crash like the others, everything moves in slow motion . what happens is windows appearing in slow mo i.e frame by frame like, people in games moving in slow mo, jump list appearing in slow mo etc. Except the mouse or dragging windows and icons around those normal things work properly.
I installed the latest update for my graphics card and i tried opening a game and when it starts it auto minimizes and opens personalization>display settings and shows me a specific resolution different from my 1440x990 depending on game so i click ok for the game but when i maximize it just opens up again after a few tries it does work but during play if i minimize i can not maximize again and have to end task from task manager and all my game data not saved is lost.
in my taskbar, i have a shortcut for my pictures folder. but when i minimize it, it minimize to the explorer folder. how i change it. i want to minimize it to his shortcut, not to the explorer. but i want to keep explorer shortcut too.
I am rebooting "Windows 7" more than any prior version of Windows for one simple reason. When my computer comes out of a sleep mode and I click to log on to an existing session, the keyboard can no longer be used. Often when I attempt to type on the keyboard, the mouse is then lost as well.
If I instead log on and then immediately do a restart - everything is fine. So, now I have fallen into the habit of restarting every time. It takes less time for me to do that then getting something started with the mouse and then freezing the system by trying to type something. So I just accept the restart and avoid the reboot. But, essentially the restart is a reboot.
Very frustrating! Then a few times I have gone directly to the Microsoft website and they do not even mention the issue in their database. It's like no matter how many people mention the same "windows 7" "loses keyboard", Microsoft just does not care. It goes against all the other facts that say "Windows 7" is the most stable version of Windows.
i just nstalled windows 7 64 bit ultimate on a custom build. i have video at the start then with the windows circle spinning the video just goes to black. the system works good in safemode.
I have a new Dell laptop running W7. The screen tint is far too blue and I have found the controls in the display section where I can modify the colours (and gamma etc).
I can adjust everything with no problems, but much to my annoyance, when I boot up again, all the settings have reverted back to the factory, too blue settings.
(I think that the settings even get lost if the laptop powers itself down through the various hibernate/sleeps etc; although I'm not that familiar with all of those options so am not sure.)
So, my question is how can I get W7 to remember these settings?
When I start my computer with drivers installed my monitor loses the signal when I should be receiving a log in screen. I can boot up fine in safemode and/or if I'm using Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. To my knowledge I do not have an onboard graphics card as there is nothing to plug an avi or vga cord into aside from my graphics card. I should also mention I tried using an NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT and experienced the same problem.
I keep losing LAN connection within 1 minute after my computer wakes from sleep modeI cannot ping the router, the DSL modem and anything outside.Windows "repair connection" tool fixes the problem until the next time I put computer to sleep.have Windows 7 32 bit, integrated Intel LAN card. Can't blame McAfee because when I uninstalled it and replaced with Microsoft Essentials this behavior didn't change
I am trying to troubleshoot my PS3 controller on Windows 7. I play my games on the TV, so when I turn around it lags a bit.
When running multi-monitor, with the TV the main screen and the laptop as the secondary display, I am running the game on the TV, and on the laptop's screen have the controller properties screen where you can test the game controller and see if its buttons, sticks, ect work. So, with the game running on the TV, and the controller window on the laptop, I navigate through the game with the controller, it works fine, but it doesn't report it on the controller properties windows. It turns out that I have to have that window selected/in-focus for it to report the controller's key presses, or it doesn't work. So what I am asking is, how can I make that window in focus while running the game?
I don't know if this is a harware issue with my SSD, disk controller (motherboard), power supply or something else, but depending on what I'm doing, the computer will operate for a few minutes then freeze and eventually reboot itself. When it reboots, I get the "Bootmgr is Missing" message until I cycle power a couple of times. I've tried booting from the Windows 7 repair disk and typing "bootrec /fixboot", but the problem eventually returns.I can't get a full image update from Acronis because it hangs in the middle of the image, even if I say to ignore bad sectors. If I run the HDTune diagnostic on the SSD, it seems to always stop after about 3 minutes and always in the same spot, at 15,432MB. Is this a problem with the SSD or the disk controller?

I've had Windows 7 RC1 for a few months now, and up until now it's been working flawlessly. Now when I'm doing anything, I click with the mouse, the window loses focus to another window. This is hard to describe but I've noticed that some of the open programs on the taskbar also disappear but then reappear almost instantly while this is happening. If I have multiple programs open they'll even rearrange the order (not the pinned programs), ie: firefox open and i have control panel open, firefox will flicker, lose focus, then the program icon will disappear from the left of the control panel and then be on the right, as if I had opened it after I had opened Control Panel.
It might be important to note that I just installed a windows update yesterday, that's the only thing I've really changed.
I'm running a Dell XPS M1530, 2 gigs of ram, and I have about 8 gigs free on my windows drive. I'm running a GeForce 8600M GT driver version 176.44 (forceware drivers). I use a Logitech VX Nano mouse.
I don't even really know how to diagnose the problem - I was thinking maybe driver issues or maybe even a mouse issue
I reinstalled windows 7 about an hour ago.The reason I decided to reinstall was because I was having the minor annoyance of windows losing focus, as if I had clicked the taskbar or something (but I didn't).The problem is still here. I just reinstalled, I got rid of windows.old, and task manager reports a whopping 36 processes running. The only programs I have installed are Firefox, Flash, and Microsoft Security Essentials. I have visited no suspicious websites in the past half hour. What the heck do I do now? There are absolutely NO programs that I know of that could possibly be causing this problem. I can only conclude that it must be malware. If so, how can I reinstall again so that there is nothing left behind from the old installation? Because windows.old was there, maybe whatever was on my old install carried over.

I am using Windows 7 and IE8 in my application. I am opening a new pop window using window.open(). After submit, my request will reload the same opup. While reloading the page is hiding behind the parent window. I have tried using window.focus() to bring the popup front, its not working. This problem occurs only if i use Win 7 and IE8
Not sure if "focus" is the right term here, but anyway. I use "list" view almost exclusively so this may not be an issue with other views. But one of my beefs with Windows 7 is: if you're viewing a folder that has multiple rows of files or sub folders; then you click on of the the folders that's more to the right of the window and the entire contents of the window reorients itself so what you clicked on is now more towards the left area of the window. Know what I'm saying?
Here's a before and after of what I'm talking about.. Open Window...
Now I click on a file that's slightly out of view and it does this without me touching the slider at all.....
I have Windows 7 Ultimate built from scratch, (although this same issue happened before the rebuild, from an upgrade to Windows 7 Pro from Windows Vista); Windows 7 is build 7600.I have a multiple monitor setup and Outlook runs on the r/h screen. When I use Outlook 2007, I click new mail, and the new message window opens on the l/h screen. Same when I click reply or forward. Whether I am opening a new message, or replying/forwarding an existing message, sometimes, (and it really is sporadic), the new message window won't take focus. So when I started to type, my focus shoots up and down on the Outlook window; e.g. if I hit H to start typing H, it will try and jump to a message starting with H.
I have an important app running in Excel that takes 7 hours to complete. During that time the focus of the app is somehow diverted to something else in the Windows environment. When this happens the Excel program stops in its tracks until I click on it to give it back the focus. How can I increase the priority of Excel in the scheme of things so that this doesn't happen?
My netbook loses its IP address after it has been asleep overnight or longer. I cannot do an ipconfig /release or ipconfig /renew. It says there is no media. My only recourse is to restart. My laptop does not have this problem.
1. Computer, at start up, sometimes can't find my monitor. Only way is to start the computer with the monitor switched off; then turn the monitor on at a certain time during the booting process (when I here a motherboard-beep). Occasionally the connection will be broken anyway (and I'll have to mess with the 'reset/-start button). I generally get to the motherboard page and BIOS settings. But sometimes not even that and then the only solution is to leave everything off for a while (minimum a couple of minuts – but not exactly sure).
2. Computer lose monitor when it to goes into sleep mode. This only happens if I leave it inactive for a long enough time. I can usually retrieve it if the display's gone out only for a short while, as usual - by pressing keyboard or moving mouse.
My hope is to find a solution that doesn't involve buying a new monitor.
Got a PC with Nvidia GeForce 6150 graphics card with no overclocking. Sometimes the monitor loses signal and does not work. Sometimes it works just fine. I've tried different VGA cable and different monitor, situation didn't change. I've got 4 different connectors.
- 1 VGA and DVI on Nvidia - 1 VGA and DVI built in into motherboard.
Sometimes, when the Nvidia doesn't work, I connect to built-in card and monitor starts working. Next time when it's out, I connect back to Nvidia. There have been situations when only one of the four connectors is working. This means that on one graphics card there may be only one connector which is functioning. I don't get this. Problem isn't in the display nor the cable. It also doesn't seem to be in the graphics card as the built-in connectors aren't fully functional neither.
All of a sudden Snipping Tool is losing anything I try to save in jpeg format. It says it saves in the folder where I asked it to but nothing is there. When I redo the snip it tells me that file already exist. When I do a search the file shows up as being in as a Recent file used but nowhere else.
I turn on the computer, goes past the bios screen as normal, does the windows loading screen as normal, then the screen goes black and the "No Signal" message is displayed.
Now, here is why it is different. I type in my password and press enter, without being able to see and wait for the logon sound to play, then if I unplug monitors cable, I hear the noise of windows telling me a device has been disconnected, I plug it back in again the device connection noise then plays and low and behold, there is the desktop.
I have been running Windows 7 build 7100 for roughly about three weeks until this started happening about one week ago.
MONITOR: ViewSonic VX1932wm
GPU: Sapphire HD4850 512mb
Also, I have noticed too after logging, randomly Aero will disable itself, I have to open the 'Personalize' option and run the troubleshoot to get it to fix itself again.
I assume this is the correct section, as I am experiencing visual issues. Apologies if this is not the correct section.
I am noticing that if the OS is unexpectedly shut down then all the state data in IE is lost. I am assuming it is cookie data. An example is Google preferences. I set it to display 100 results per page, not filter my results and open in a new window.
Every time the computer is "accidently" powered off upon reboot Google reverts to showing 10 results per page, filtered results and opening in the same page (the default settings). This goes for every site that I have remember my login name.
I am runing Windows 7 Build 7100 RC1
I am curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue.
