Oct 13, 2011I try to install update. Get "current user" or 'administrator' Click current user (me) get 'installation requires admin access'. Click on this - get 'unknown user name or bad password" I've been into the control panel and set my password. Also tried cancelling my password and going with the blank.

Oct 1, 2011For several months I have had problems each day when asked to install "Windows Updates", some days I get 4 or 5 updates or more, for a long time it installed all except one. This has now expanded so I have three updates that will not install for some reason. It creates a restore point then tries and fails each time. I am using Norton Antivirus and have even disabled that, but I still can get the updates to install. I have never had this problem before. I also have a laptop and another PC computer that has done these updates, so why problems with this one? It's driving me crazy.I am enclosing a copy of the error message I get together with the list of failed attempts (only recent ones).

Unable To Install Windows 7 Updates?
Jun 23, 2012I have been trying for the last week to install Windows Updates KB976932 and KB2653956. I have received error codes 80246007 and 800B0100. For error code 800B0100 it was recommended that I install the system update readiness tool. I tried to install but I was unable to. For error code 80246007 it was recommended that I change or restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). I am still unable to to install these two updates.

Sep 21, 2011After battling massive BSOD all day yesterday, I did a complete factory reset, and many other things which have stopped the BSOD. Unfortunately my CPU is still completely freezing up at random times.
I figured updating all the windows updates, but i'm unable to. I keep getting error code 800B0100 when I try to DL them. I get the x64 Windows Readiness Tool download. I downloaded that and even that has failed to install. I'm not sure what the issue is.

May 21, 2012For the past 18+ days I've been unable to download and install updates on Windows7 x64. I've tried all the trouble shooters and the update readiness tool, I've sought and received advice from windows answers to no avail, 14 days ago it did allow some updates but now its insists that IE9 on IE is not downloaded when I can see it is and all the time I keep getting Error Codes 80073712 and 9C48 , I've attempted and failed on at least 21 times now and every time it looks like it may make it but then it fails.

Jun 11, 2012For the past 2-3 months I've been receiving the same error in Windows Update every time I try and update: Error 80246008. I've tried the Microsoft Fix It application and the same problem occurs. I took a look into the services and when I try to start one service required by Windows Update it always fails because its core services are not launched, so I tried to launch those and those won't even launch.

Computer Unable To Start After Install Windows 7 Updates
May 25, 2011Just finished installing Win 7 64 bit on my Dell Inspiron 1545. It appeared the update was going along smoothly until it came time to reboot. After rebooting, the laptop showed that it was configuring Windows. Once the configuration was completed the system went into Startup Repair. Once completed and checking the Repair Details it shows a message indicating that ci.dll is corrupt. I was able to restore the computer to original state, but once I downloaded the 80 or so win 7 updates, I get the same problem.

It turns on with some beeping noises and then is just stuck on a black screen where I can move the mouse cursor around to my hearts content but cannnot do anything else as it doesn't boot any further. Oct 21, 2012My 15 year old son was trying to bypass Cyberpatrol and in the process of tring to change his account from an adminstrator to a standard user I've made things worse. I changed the administrator account in his name to a standard user account but there was no other administrator account on the PC other then something called CYBERPATROL_SERVICE which is an administrative account istalled automatically by Cyberpatrol. This was the first mistake. Then he guessed the password to Cyberpatrol and attemped to uninstall it...it only 'half' uninstalled it, leaving a real mess of error messages and no access to let me change anything. I can now neither reinstall cyberpatrol or unistall it, nor can I see a way to log back in as an administrator to effect any changes to put things right. Three emails to cyberpatrol have elicited no response so I'm coming to the conclusion the onlu way out is to reinstall Windows 7 and find a different web filtering program- is there any way to log back in a an administrator? I didnt delete the admin account, only changed it to a standard type. Then If I can get back in as a administrator how can I get rid of the unwanted Cyberpatrol?

I was trying to sync my iPad 2 to iTunes via USB, but iTunes kept freezing up as soon as I clicked on any function. So I tried to repair it via apple's iTunes download. That didn't work as I still had the same issue. So I uninstalled it. And then tried to reinstall it. It downloaded just fine, but when it tries to install it pops up with a message saying "You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as an administrator and then retry this installation." My problem is that I am logged in as the administrator, and as such should have full privileges. How do I check that?

I am logged in as a guest and have tried just about everything suggested here. I have started in Safe Mode but can't access admin. I have used the installation disk to do a repair and used the activate command in the command prompt. I used the "enableadmin" mentioned on this site. Regardless of what I do here, when I restart I am back in Windows as a Guest. Even doing a system restore made no difference.

Unable To Demote Administrator Account?
Feb 21, 2012I am trying to convert to using a limited user account. I want to do this as it is a safer practice than what I am doing at the moment. Currently I am using the default Admin account when I purchased the computer from new. This account has all my files, images and music files. I have created an Admin account and then tried to 'demote' my default admin account which contains all my files to a limited user privileges.However the default Admin account does not show 'Change Account Type'. Is this because Windows 7 believes I have not created an Admin account and will not let me demote the user privileges.

I keep a number of computers up to date, including various 3rd-party programs (i.e. java, flash, etc), and I currently manually remotely connect to each computer and install the updates to the programs from a network share, then run Windows update, select all the critical updates (as well as all the applicable optional updates), then disconnect and move on to the next one.
