View 3 RepliesJust upgraded to 7 x64. Previously when checking mail in Outlook Express, the send/receive dialog box would automatically pop up to show you the progress of your email downloads. Live Mail doesn't do this unless you specifically hit the Send/Receive button.
I know there's the small message in the status bar at right, but I've always liked the way OE just popped the box for you. Is there a way to make this happen in Live Mail?
I just installed Office 2013 and decided to give the updated Outlook a fair try. I'm coming from using Thunderbird as my main e-mail program.
I have 10 gmail IMAP accounts setup in Outlook, using to be what I believe are the default settings (I haven't changed anything in any of the accounts). I am not working offline, and I have Outlook set to send/receive every 10 minutes.
In Thunderbird, anytime a new e-mail message is received, it is automatically downloaded and I get an alert sound.
However with Outlook, in order for the e-mail to be downloaded, I have to click on the Inbox of the respective e-mail account in order for it to be automatically downloaded.
This isn't an e-mail account problem because I immediately receive new e-mails via IMAP in Thunderbird and on my phone.
Using windows live mail I am finding that some messages remain in my otybox while others are transmitted normally. I also do not receive some in coming mail.
My email providor cannot help.
I'm unable to receive email from people

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to trouble shoot my boss' laptop. We have tried to set him up on Windows Live to use while he is at home and on the road. We have a server and it is setup/configured on his laptop correctly as it works EVERYWHERE else besides his home. I am guessing it is a Firewall or Router Setting issue. Since I don't go to his home, I am unable to trouble shoot it there - His family has an IPAD an ITOUUCH a personal computer and another laptop and they all send and receive mail fine. It is just my boss' laptop - Windows 7 - Home Edition - 64bit - Dell. Thinking maybe I need to change the port # in the settings on Microsoft Live. BTW - we do have him set up to use the Exchange by logging into our IP - but he just cannot seem to get the hang of doing that - even though i have everything shortcutted and instructions on the desktop...Also have had him just use Log Me In - and he doesn't like the small screen..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am reinstalling Windows rather often, but would like to do this without creating a slipstream DVD. Windows update has this tendency to wait a couple of hours before telling you that it has found an update. Is there a way to launch the updater agent on startup and then restart the computer thus installing the updates and running the agent again? I must say that installing updates is a pain where the sun doesn't shine since you need to watch it in order to reboot and launch the updater 6-7 times on a fresh install.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've just put my Dell Studio back to factory settings after having it for two years and deciding to give it a rebirth. I maintain my laptop very well but always like to do a reset every so often.
The problem I'm having now is that the damn thing wont update from Windows Update. It will identify that there are 76 important or critical downloads, but hangs at 0% downloading.
I went to the MS catalogue and tried to download manually, but even though I had the updates selected in my basket, again, it just hung on 0%.
I've ran Kasperskys TDS, the Malicious Tool Removal MS thingy-ma-jig, ran an sfc check where it did note there were corrupt files but it couldn't fix them. The Fix It link to the MS Update Not Working thing found no problems either.
Interestingly, I've just reset and it's telling me the system had to be restarted to finish installing updates, but when you click on it for more info, there's no updates listed.
I use Microsoft Security Essentials and I have the Update Settings set to install Requiremended updates but it's not installing Optional updates for this application, how can I get it to install optional updates?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Ultimate and I have my Windows Update settings set to "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them." The reason I use this setting is because even though I usually install the updates (because mostly they improve things), sometimes I'll see an update that I know I do not want to install. So I want to have control over which updates get installed. However, I ALWAYS want to install the latest "Definition Update For Microsoft Security Essentials", and since those updates are released very frequently, it's very annoying to always have to install them manually. Is there a way that I can have ONLY those definition updates installed automatically while still leaving it so that all other updates are not automatically installed?

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor several months I have had problems each day when asked to install "Windows Updates", some days I get 4 or 5 updates or more, for a long time it installed all except one. This has now expanded so I have three updates that will not install for some reason. It creates a restore point then tries and fails each time. I am using Norton Antivirus and have even disabled that, but I still can get the updates to install. I have never had this problem before. I also have a laptop and another PC computer that has done these updates, so why problems with this one? It's driving me crazy.I am enclosing a copy of the error message I get together with the list of failed attempts (only recent ones).

For a couple days now, I haven't been able to update Avast or Windows Update. I tried reinstalling Avast but it did not work. I have tried everything. I scanned my PC with every major malware program but they don't detect anything. What should I do? I'm too scared to reinstall Windows 7. However, I will if I need too. I also want to format my disk in the process. How could I do this? Also, I am scared that I wont be able to find the drivers I need for my GPU and such if I reinstall and format my disk. Where can I find these drivers?

For error code 800B0100 it was recommended that I install the system update readiness tool. I tried to install but I was unable to. For error code 80246007 it was recommended that I change or restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). I am still unable to to install these two updates.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor the past 18+ days I've been unable to download and install updates on Windows7 x64. I've tried all the trouble shooters and the update readiness tool, I've sought and received advice from windows answers to no avail, 14 days ago it did allow some updates but now its insists that IE9 on IE is not downloaded when I can see it is and all the time I keep getting Error Codes 80073712 and 9C48 , I've attempted and failed on at least 21 times now and every time it looks like it may make it but then it fails.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'll be ecstatic if this could be solved. After installing windows updates my pc no longer boots. It turns on with some beeping noises and then is just stuck on a black screen where I can move the mouse cursor around to my hearts content but cannnot do anything else as it doesn't boot any further. I am not sure if I still have the windows disc as I upgraded from vista many a moon ago but it maybe here somewhere. It doesn't give me the option to run in safe mode, do any sort of system repair or go to the BIOS screen due to the fact it doesn't boot up that far.
