Remotely Install Windows Updates And Install Programs
Feb 13, 2013
I am part of a large organization that has a large amount of computers on our domain controller. I have Administrative rights to the computers only, and network access rights on our network. I keep a number of computers up to date, including various 3rd-party programs (i.e. java, flash, etc), and I currently manually remotely connect to each computer and install the updates to the programs from a network share, then run Windows update, select all the critical updates (as well as all the applicable optional updates), then disconnect and move on to the next one. Needless to say, time quickly adds up.

My Windows Installer won't install anything such as updates and certain programs.I've tried all sorts of fixes found on the internet, but none work and I don't have the windows 7 disc!I am Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 - if I can't get it sorted then I can't install the updates thus at risk when on the internet - not to mention I won't be able to install any software!

I am trying to install office 2007 as part of a system rebuild after installing a new hard drive. I get a window saying install was successful, I can open power point or excel but when I try to open word it hangs up at the word logo page. I have done remove programs in control panel, I have used revo uninstall to try to clean the registry. I suspect a corrupted fragment in the registry but don't know how to get at it.

one of my co-workers wants me to get rid of some viruses and install office 2010 home and student on her computer with the key she bought. her computer runs windows 7 64-bit. after backing up her data, i finally ended up doing a factory reinstall from the backup partition. so i downloaded all windows updates and installed antivirus and firewall software. then i downloaded the office 2010 trial and tried to install it. it seems to begin installing without any problems. then a splash screen for powerpoint appears. it says that its "processing" and does that for about 20 minutes and then there is a balloon that pops up saying that office is downloading files. after all that happens, an error message appears that says something like "powerpoint cannot be opened. please try again later or repair this software in the control panel" with no sort of error code. i then tried repairing it from control panel which claims to complete successfully. so i restart and try to install again and the same thing happens all over again. if i try opening word, excel, powerpoint or onenote the splash screen appears and does the same thing that i described powerpoint was doing. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. i also tried installing the 60 day trial for office 2007 that came preloaded with the computer and then installing office 2010 over it. same thing happened.

I've a customer whose Win 7 Home 64 bit won't install all the updates. He's got a list of ~24 updates that, when installed, results in error code 8007371b or 80073712. I've run SFC successfully with no errors as well as AntiMalwarebytes. Also ran MS Fixit 8025769253168492.4.1 which said it found 2 errors and fixed them (but it didn't really). Curiously, when I ran this util in Safe Mode, it reported back that two errors were found but only one could be fixed. Also ran MS Fixit 50123 successfully. Downloaded and ran the Update System Readiness Tool which found no errors to fix. Booted in Safe Mode and also in Clean boot. Still could not successfully install the updates. The Windows Update troubleshooter was run but it too didn't fix the problem.customer had tried the Upgrade route from an ISO he made and it ran to about 75% completion but then failed. He said the failure point happened when the upgrade was installing applications (???? ) or something like that.

Where to start? Several weeks ago I installed a windows update & then my Bullguard firewall wouldn't start. I got remote assistance from Bullguard & they succesfully restarted my firewall.Since then I have permissions issues, I have tried changing my status from admin to standard but the standard option is greyed out. I have tried setting a new user account but that also will not let me apply any changes without a password which I don't have. Also when I go to All Programs this is empty? My other problem is my windows security updates faill to install ( error 8000ffff) I have looked at different solutions online & used microsoft fix it but all to no avail. I have 19 updates to install but they constantly come back with the same error.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and there are some updates I can't install. It loads to 15% then it says "failure configuring updates, reverting to old setup", or something similar. First I had 8 updates when this started happening but I managed to install the security updates by selecting them exclusively. I have have tried deleting my updates folder and download again but same thing happens. Is there a fix for this? It's annoying when my computer reboots because they can't be installed. These are the updates in question:

I have tried everything I can think of aside from wiping and re-installing windows to get rid of these error codes to install the updates

I have gone at least 5 months since I last installed windows updates. I had partially disabled the automatic updates (made it so that it downloads automatically but I choose whether to install them) and have recently decided to install the 101 or so updates that had been downloaded automatically.
About 74 of those updates, but I was able to troubleshoot windows update and so was able to successfully install 30 of those important updates.
The problem now is that I have 44 updates that are downloaded and require a shutdown or restart to be installed. However every time I shutdown or restart my computer I have to wait 5-10 mins for windows to configure the updates and in the end they fail and the changes are reverted.
I've tried troubleshooting again but it did not work. I wonder if these updates are older versions of newer ones I have installed and are therefore failing to install.

I have about 12 updates that are taking way too long to install. Right now they're at 65%, tomorrow they might be at 68%, or even 72%. But the point is that they never completely install. Normally I shut my computer off at the end of the work day but nothing updates before the computer shuts all the way down. Last night I kept the computer on all night while trying to install updates and I ended up getting an error message saying that they couldn't install because of missing components, but it didn't mention what was missing. I believe that I might be missing some .dll files. I HAVE had success installing a couple Microsoft Office updates but, when it comes to Windows updates, they never happen. I've tried the Microsoft Fix-It and the System Update Readiness Tool but neither of those things worked. Usually the error code that I get is 0x80010108 if that helps at all.

For several months I have had problems each day when asked to install "Windows Updates", some days I get 4 or 5 updates or more, for a long time it installed all except one. This has now expanded so I have three updates that will not install for some reason. It creates a restore point then tries and fails each time. I am using Norton Antivirus and have even disabled that, but I still can get the updates to install. I have never had this problem before. I also have a laptop and another PC computer that has done these updates, so why problems with this one? It's driving me crazy.I am enclosing a copy of the error message I get together with the list of failed attempts (only recent ones).

I'm hoping to find an answer on why my computer is having a problem installing any updates now, be it windows updates, or other programs like acrobat reader and such...and if my no print issue may be related. I had no problems for a while running updates when I bought the computer in February, now as of a couple months ago, it always has errors when trying to install them. I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 Notebook PC running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. This problem occured about the same time that I noticed a no print issue, so I'm wondering if they are related. I tried 2 different printers that I've never had issues with until recently. Lexmark 3350 and a HP 932C are the printers with the proper drivers installed and the Lexmark has even worked on this computer a couple times before back when I first got it. I ran into this issue so I got out the HP to try and same thing. I click print, from any program, MS Office, Acrobat reader, whatever, and it does nothing...the program thinks it sent it, but the Print Status shows nothing, and nothing more happens. However, when in printer settings I can click print test page, and it'll spit it right out.

My computer bluesecreens a LOT (3 times just today), has been nearly since I built it 5 years ago and I've gone through everything to fix it. Last thing I've noticed is that there have been a couple of updates to my motherboard firmware but when I try to install them I just get an error that they won't work with a 64 bit OS (Windows 7 64). I thought about using a live CD running a 32 bit Windows just to install the update.

For one reason or another I am frequently installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 onto my hard drive. I use a lot of software so as things get installed and uninstalled bad things tend to happen and sometimes things are beyond repair. My question is can I use my product key to download from someplace an image of Windows 7 with all the updates already installed? Installing the updates becomes very time consuming and the machine has to be restarted many times over so I am trying to avoid this. I suppose I could disable the updates but that is not really my intent at this time.

why the Windows updates are all failing. The problem started around mid October last Fall. The updates are set for automatic. I have also tried doing manual updates and no luck.On shut down each night the computer downloads the updates successfully, then the computer prepares to shut down and it says "configuring updates" and shows a percentage of completion. Every single time, it gets to 16% then says "installation failed - reverting changes". It then shuts down and reboots and everything seems ok, until the next time I shut down the computer and it tries to install more updates. Rinse, lather, repeat. They were working fine until last October. Since then the odd one shows "successful", but 99% "fail".
