View 3 RepliesI am unable to install programmes on my windows 7 ultimate.
View 3 RepliesI have an unusual problem which I could not find any answer so far.My version of Windows 7 is the Ultimate 64-bit, and lately I cannot install many 64-bit programs as it appears a message of incompatible version of Windows. Very strange.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit on my desktop. I reformatted the harddisk and booted to the DVD. I've already checked the compatibility and was previously running Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit. In the computer properties, it did say that the processor (AMD Athlon 64x2) is capable of running 64-bit. When I boot to the DVD, it goes through the process and seems like it is working, but after a few automatic reboots, it just black-screens. At that point, if I reboot, it just black-screens again it.I am able to put 32-bit back on it, and it installs without problems, but am trying to get it setup to run SharePoint dev tools. Is there something additional I need to do to install 64-bit that was running 32-bit?

View 4 Replies View RelatedEverytime i try to install a program it just hangs and never completes. I am running window 7 64bit and have been search the internet for any possible solution. Everything i have tried has not worked. Examples of programs i have not been able to install include, new version of java, flash player, itunes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy issues first began with Microsoft Office Word Starter. I couldn't run it -- I would get an error message about there being no associated file. I fixed this with system restore, and my computer was good for a while. Perhaps a week later, I noticed I was unable to install any programs. I would get a notification saying something about shell.dll and that there was no file associated with whatever it was that I would try to install (VLC player, Adobe Reader, the list goes on... but for some reason WinRAR worked).I tried to remedy this by doing a system restore. When my computer started up again, a notification popped up saying that system restore failed (or that it was unable to make changes). Today, I noticed I am unable to run anything as administrator, FireFox has been acting up, and my computer has been freezing quite frequently.

I had a problem with a website while running Microsoft Security Essentials. I tried to reinstall MSE but I keep getting an error during the installation. I also tried to install AVG with no luck. It is like I can't install programs.
I have windows 7 ultimate on my system and i would like to know what the best compatible programs are for my OS.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSomewhere I read that Windows 7 Ultimate has a place where you can run XP items. I've had XP Pro for years and have a lot of programs that I can't use on 7. Is there a way. I'm new to 7 and all my other computers are XP.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit does not seem to open any 32 bit programs. When I try to open a 32 bit program, it shows up in the task manager for a few seconds (e.g. "firefox.exe x32"), then disappears after a few seconds. I can open Internet Explorer 64 bit fine, run it with no programs, but the 32 bit version doesn't work.I also can't access many of the Windows control panel settings, such as "Uninstall Programs." I can open the Control Panel folder, but when I double click on the items inside: nothing. Background: My wife decided it was a good idea to download and run a program she received in an email from a stranger and let it bypass our Avast antivirus SuperAntiSpyware, Trend Micro Housecall, and Microsoft Security Essentials; also CCleaner, and a few other similar utilities (finding and deleting many items.) I feel fairly confident (not 100%) that there are no viruses/malware left, but either they screwed something up, or my efforts to subsequently clean the computer up did.ow I booted into safe mode once or twice, and was able to run 32 bit programs! But now I can't do that anymore: Both regular and safe-mode boots result in the same problem.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo far, iv tried fixing things with the Windows 7 install disk, and have run a ton of anti virus/malware/spyware stuff. They found nothing. I also cant restore to a earlier date. This all happened after some Oct 14th windows updates. From what I read, it does some stuff to your registry keys? Other than that, I have absolutly no idea. It wont even open x86 programs when its in a safe mode startup or during a clean boot. I also tried making a new user in case mine was curropted, but that didnt seem to do anything either. Would completly nuking my harddrive and reinstalling be my only option at this point?
I dont have a soundcard. I have a MA785GT-GT Gigabyte motherboard with onboard 7.1 surround. I tried to download the drivers for it, but I cant run that program either. I cant run anything thats not stricly a x64 program. Also, whenever I try to open a media file outside of a x64 program, I get a prompt that says Server Execution Failed. That only happens with media files
As a side note, If it is a registry foul-up that happened in the update, could registry reflection or redirection in the WOW6432node do anything? Registry keys are confusing to me, could someone tell me anything about this?
If worst comes to worst ,what is the best way to go about formating a harddrive? I'v never had to do it before. I have Hiren's boot CD and that has a pretty agressive nuking program.Would that be the best way to go about it?
I'm running win 7 ultimate 32 bit, all of a sudden I cant access certain programs, keep getting told I'm not the administrator, when clearly I am, even opening up firefox, I have to run it as administrator, tried various recovery programs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOut of nowhere I received messages saying that multiple appdata local files were corrupt and then all programs became non-responsive or would start but became non-responding after a few seconds. I ran chkdsk and after some time it finished repairing the errors. However, now my system gave me 4 warnings saying that none of my security features were working. I use AVG Internet Security 2012. When I click on the AVG Icons or try and repair by clicking on the warnings, nothing happens.I have read that I should reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate to solve the problem. Sadly I did not partition my hard drive went I built the PC, and of course I do not want to lose any programs, files, etc. So what are my best options?
1. Back up my hard drive and bring everything back over once Windows in reinstalled?
2. Buy an SSD drive for one of my extra bays and install Windows 7 Ult there? Is this even an option since I already have Windows 7 Ult on my PC?
3. Is it possible to partition the drive and move Windows to this section? Then reinstall Windows without affecting other programs and files?

View 3 Replies View RelatedBought some pieces, assembled a new PC, installed Windows 7 Ultimate, then SP1, then several programs and everything seemed to be fine. But the next day, without changing anything, some programs won't start correctly, to be more precise: their processes seem to start (or at least they show up on Task Manager, but consuming only a few KB of ram and no CPU) but no program window appears whatsoever. Sometimes rebooting the PC will stop this from happening, but not always. Here I attach screenshots of CPU-Z and the customary files for debugging BSODs. Full system specs: [URL].
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and yesterday I did my first image backup using Acronis True Image 2011 (I'd previously been using an earlier version with no problems.)
When the backup completed I told the computer to shut down and it went to a screen that said the following:
"Operations in progress. Please wait. The machine will be turned off automatically after the operations are complete."
The screen had a blue background with the blue ring with the white bit going round and round to the left of the text and the Windows 7 Ultimate logo at the bottom.
I left the computer and came back over an hour later and the computer had gone into standby. When I pressed the start button the same screen was still displaying so I left it for a couple more hours and came back to it and the same thing happened. I turned the computer off at the back and switched it on again this morning. I got the "Starting Windows" screen and then it went straight back to the "Operations in progress..." message.

I am running windows 7 ultimate x64 and have a quick question. I notice when my computer updates itself and goes for a restart, after the computer has rebooted all of the programs that were left open also restart. Is there a way to turn this feature off?Basically I'm looking for way to stop the opening of programs after a reboot, forced or not.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 ultimate and for what ever reason when starting my laptop (HP DV62114tx) Im being requested to enter in the bitlocker key. Now here is the issue, the bitlocker key is on the desktop. (silly me)
Im wanting to know if there is any way to either retrieve the key or is there an over ride code for bitlocker so I can log in to my laptop.
I think moving forward, I will not use Bitlocker or look for an alternate solution, that is once I get the Laptop running again.
somehow my hard disk partition became dynamic. i formatted system and insttaled windows 7 ultimate in the dynamic disk partition. from then onwards system is not booting. only black screen with cursor on the upper left corner of the black screen.
if i am not wrong windows 7 cannot boot with dynamic disk. i will have to go to the disk management and after conversion of dynamic disk to basic disk with deleting all the volumes (data). it is possible to boot with windows 7.
but system is not booting...not opening..so i cannot go to disk management.
hrad disk is showing some partitions with system reserved. except system reserved all the partitions are shwoing dynamic. and in only one partition formatting option and installing OS option is coming while i booting system with OS DVD.
reinstalltion through OS DVD is possble by booting through OS DVD. but in advanced option repartition option is not coming. the one partition in which i installed OS previously, only in that formatting option is coming. in other partition neither formating option is coming nor extend.
There are two Microsoft updates that has caused a very important program to stop working. I have identified the two that caused the problem, however they cannot be removed per the Microsoft message that once installed they cannot be removed. Please, is there another way I can remove them so I can get my program up and running?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo over the past few days it seems that I have lost control of my C drive and all of its contents.I can no longer properly access it, and everything opens in "Read-Only". I can no longer install programs or modify existing programs.According to the security permissions, I have none. Nor can I change my permissions because in order to change them I need access to the C drive, which I don't have.I have tried creating other users and putting them in the admin group, etc. but nothing is working.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am part of a large organization that has a large amount of computers on our domain controller. I have Administrative rights to the computers only, and network access rights on our network. I keep a number of computers up to date, including various 3rd-party programs (i.e. java, flash, etc), and I currently manually remotely connect to each computer and install the updates to the programs from a network share, then run Windows update, select all the critical updates (as well as all the applicable optional updates), then disconnect and move on to the next one. Needless to say, time quickly adds up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedA client of mine (I'm an IT summer temp in a production facility) recently contracted the Windows 7 Recovery virus and contacted me to fix it. Having encountered the XP version recently and resolved the issue, I was able to easily remove the virus and associated rootkit. The difference this time was that unhide.exe failed to restore the start>all programs menu shortcuts, although it did manage to restore the folder structure. I read through and followed the instructions of another thread here: [URL]. Which did not resolve the issue. The output given by SystemLook is as follows:
