I loaded the computer from factory settings as it had blue screen and refused to start up without startup repair and dell datasafe backup or w/e that program is called. I loaded it up, installed Google Chrome, cleared my history on IE, downloaded MSE, the latest nvidia drivers and java 7 64 and deleted all those and emptied the recycle bin once done installing those. I shut down the computer to install updates and get a blue screen as soon as it passes the startup screen. Every time I attempt to launch using startup repair it just opens up another window with a black screen and the option of startup repair and normal repair, never actually going to startup repair, just continually refreshing every time I select startup repair.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy laptop won't stop trying to do a backup (it's the first backup ever on this laptop) - for the last couple days the little flag in the system tray keeps coming up, after a minute or so of starting up my laptop, saying it's doing a backup (which is slowing it down incredibly). But when click on the backup message and try to open it, it opens up the box which only comes up with the title "backup and restore" and nothing else appears so I can't stop it that way. Even when I go into control panel to try and open it that way, it's the same.I've also gone into services and disabled it that way, but this hasn't worked either. I've also tried the "SFC /Scannow" method but it also doesn't work - the black command box flashes up for a second and disappears immediately every time I've tried it.

Problem: When I use facebook.com either https or http, after a certain period of times or page visits, the facebook stops loading and "hangs" on a page not going back or forward. I either have to wait, or close it and open another browser. This has been going on for quite some time. I tried clearing everything with CCleaner, flushed DNS, Etc. When I ping, I get all 4 responses.
It was either here or in "Motherboards & Memory"
If I make a backup image of my entire computer (not just pictures, documents, etc) with 2 sticks of 1GB memory and then I upgrade to 1 stick of 4GB memory, will the backup image still work? or is the backup image also inclusive of the hardware at the time of backup and thus the new hardware would conflict?
I know the simple answer is just backup after the hardware changes, but I was just curious.
i recently installed windows 7 on both my laptop and my home pc...
everything works great but i noticed something weird...
when my home pc starts up i see the window symbol flashing as the load up screen like this:
http://th04.deviantart.com/fs39/300W/i/2008/349/2/8/Windows_7_6956_Bootscreen_XP_by_TSR_Pr.jpg
on my laptop for some reason i dont see that screen, insted i see a load up bar similar to the one from windows vista like this:
http://www.techmixer.com/pic/2007/04/vista-default-boot-screen.jpg
anyone got a clue?
So I opened my laptop this morning, tried to log in and was stuck on the welcome screen for about 10 minutes. I restarted using the power button and when restarting it said "loading files" then went to a black screen. I restarted again and it gave me the option to select a safe mode or startup normally. I selected safe mode and I was stuck on the startup bit with the windows logo for 10 minutes and then it went back to the selection screen this time with the options being startup repair and launch windows normally. I selected startup repair and it went to a black screen for 10 minutes, then went to a screen like the login screen background but grey. It wasn't frozen and I could still move the mouse so I could tell it was loading and I waited >20 minutes and it didn't change. I restarted and did the same thing multiple times.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDespite the quick boot that I get with my SSD i am unable to begin using my PC immediately after the boot completes. When the desktop appears I see all the icons fully loaded, but then they suddenly become white files and will slowly load back for about 10-15 seconds. During this time I am unable to click on any of the icons and use the programs. Most of them are shortcuts, is the OS reconnecting the file paths? It's obviously not that bad, but it is a tad inconvenient. Will reducing the number of shortcuts on my desktop reduce this, and are there any other fixes?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSOMETIMES when i startup the computer, all of the processes don't load( I checked the task manager). When the computer starts in this way, it kinda freezes and not much works until the rest of the processes load. ( i need 47 or so to start properly. when i am having trouble, only 37 load). And when they finally do load, Internet is super duper slow. Also not much else is fast at all. But, if at this point i restart the computer, and IF the processes load properly(all 47 or so) I have no issues. The computer is really fast and does as it should.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt started automatically in the middle of the night and nearly 24 hrs later it's still going. I tried to stop it and a window pops up saying it can't be stopped. Every 5 min or so the computer restarts and the Startup Repair continues. As I was transferring a lot of my files, I can't remember if I got another BLOF or it just restarted but ever since then it just boots straight into Startup Repair, which cannot find a solution, but I have used my backups already so I don't have any more backups to go to.[CODE]

View 3 Replies View RelatedWindows boots fine and loads the log-in screen, but usually seconds after starting to load the desktop, she gets a BSOD and the system restarts. The errors alternate between 0x000000E, 0x000000 50 and 0x000000A from what I've observed. Performance Monitor won't generate a report, giving the error "The system cannot find the path specified." I don't know how to correct for that.

I have installed windows 7 on my computer about a year ago. I've never had any problems to the point where I would need to reinstall the OS, however, I've noticed that on cold boots the system runs painfully slow, it will boot up fairly fast on a normal restart tho, like 20-35 seconds. On a cold boot it can take about 1-2 minutes to load in windows, and then once that happens its not so much it going slow as that there is a point during which I cannot click anything or else it will take forever to accomplish.
What I mean by this is, it will load to my desktop and for a period of about 3 more minutes I will try to right click on the desktop and it will do the circle thing for like 20 seconds before giving me the drop down menu. If I right click again right after, it shows up instantly. Same with trying to open up a file within those first couple of minutes. It will take like 45 seconds to open a picture. I have tweaked my windows 7 to startup only necessary drivers and turned off search index along with Aero.
My HDD isn't fragmented and I've got about 120gbs out of 450 available. So its not that bad. Now some of you may say, well its just loading the processes. But I only have catalyst control center loading up as a startup item. And even after it loads. It goes through a wierd 3-4 minute phase in which everything is slow as hell. Then works perfectly fine.
I have an Acer Aspire 5750-6677. I3-2310m. It has been performing the startup repair for over a day. It's now, finally (I think), saying "windows is loading files". It has been doing this for HOURS! Can I simply turn it off and attempt a different method or will that make it worse? BTW: it came with zero discs of any kind when I purchased it new in July 2011. This is my work comp too and I can't lose the info that's on it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to start the Cobian Backup software when Windows 7 boots. I have tried two methods: putting a shortcut in the startup menu, and creating a task in the task scheduler.Putting a shortcut in the startup menu caused the UAC controls to activate every time the program was executed. Creating a task to run the software at boot did not work either I think because despite the fact that I selected to run with the highest authorization, it would not execute.I selected the option to run whether or not the user was logged in. I think this was the issue. But selecting the other option (to run when the administrator is logged in) required a password. I do not wish to associate a password with my login because I don't want to have to enter it each time I boot the machine.I searched for autologin solutions, but could not get any of the suggestions to work. Can you suggest a way to run Cobian at boot without invoking the UAC (but not necessarily disabling UAC entirely)? Or provide an autologin solution so that I can use the task scheduler?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a Dell Optiplex GX520. When I try to boot, after the windows logo comes on screen, the pc goes into sleep mode. This also happens in safe mode. I found out that it had a faulty HDD. So I replaced it. However when I try to start from Windows install disk it goes into sleep mode right after it shows de Loading Windows logo. I tried to go in to the bios to load the optimized settings but when I press F2 to load the system setup the computer goes into sleep mode.
So basically I cant do anything to boot or to re-install Windows.
some other things I tried:
- check PSU with PSU tester: PSU ok
- boot without DVD station: still going into sleep mode
- boot in safe mode: sleep mode again
- last known good configuration: sleep mode
- swapped RAM: still same issue... sleep mode FTL
I cant test GFX cause its on board and theres no AGP or PCI-e slot on the mobo.
I have a pc that is setup with a 60 gb SSD for Windows and a 2TB RAID 0 for the rest of the stuff. Last night I decided to partition some of the RAID to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview and see what the fuss was about.I partitioned it just fine, and everything was going smoothly, until I decided to use the windows tool to make my pendrive bootable with the Win8 ISO.In the middle of the process, I was doing something else (unistalling firefox to be more exact) and suddenly a blue screen comes up!Now my PC is stuck on the famous startup recovery loop, and I cant find a way to make it boot.
- Manual CHKDSK
- That tutorial on this forum where you mess around with the prompt wnidow
- restarting 1 billion times
- booting up from the windows DVD and trying to repair the hard drive
And as you can imagine nothing happened and I am still stuck with my har drive being unbootable. Now I cant help thinking that this was due to my pen drive being in the middle of that process in some way, but I have since removed it, burned it and buried in a forest, and still my problem persists.Since I havent found another solution online, I think now that the only way for me to get my PC back running is by reformatting my SSD (while hopefully keeping all my RAID files intact) and reinstalling windows. BBUUUTT!!! I have 100s of hours worth of Skyrim in that drive, and if I loose that I will seriously freak out! While I dont play it a lot anymore, when the expansions come, Dovahkin will rise again! Can I copy my files from my messed up SSD to somewhere else, before formatting it and starting a new life?
I had just restored my laptop to a backup that I had created when I just bought it. But now after the Starting Windows screen it says " Setup is starting up services " and it just stops there. I waited for hours and nothing has happened. What should I do?
