Windows Not Loading After Update, Hangs On "Loading Operating System."
May 1, 2012
During a recent windows update my pc froze, (mid-update) and I restarted my machine. Now windows gets stuck at the black" Loading operating system..."screen. After a long wait it will eventually display boot from cd/. When I boot from my windows dvd my os is not shown in system recovery. I Have also tried running start up repair from recovery with no luck.
I had to mess about getting rid of the virus but it left residual files that were causing me even more problems. One of those files, veawi.sys, refused to go away as everytime i tried to delete it i would get a message stating that "a device attached to the system is not working" or something along that line.
Anyway, i tried to get rid of it by installing Windows XP to a USB hard drive that i have lying around so that i could use the command prompt to delete the file from the windowssystem32drivers directory. That didn't work as i would get the message "NTLDR is missing" and my Windows 7 installation wouldn't boot either as i'd get the message "Error loading operating system". To add insult to injury i found, after using the installion disc for Windows 7, that i could have just used the command prompt in the repair section of the disc which allowed me to get rid of the culprit file.
I've tried running the startup repair from the Windows 7 disc and it states that there are no errors found. For the first time in ages i'm stuck and i get the feeling that i'm going to have to reinstall Windows 7 all over again.
The first problem was that it kept booting into the windows startup repair. For a split second i can see windows 7 loading but then it automatically went to the startup repair , after many many reboots i opened the command prompt in windows startup repair and tried fixing the master reboot. Now it gets stuck at loading operating system.Even when i try to boot from the windows 7 CD and Truecrypt rescue disk it still gets stuck at loading operating system. The whole harddrive was encrypted with truecrypt and it use to go to truecrypt bootloader after loading the operating system but it doesn't do that anymore.

I am attempting to reinstall windows with files burned from an .iso onto a blank disc but when I press f12 then go into CD-ROM it goes to the next screen and says: 'Loading Operating System... Boot from CD/DVD..' Then it will boot normally.
I have an Asus laptop computer with Windows 7 and when I turn it on I get this message, "error loading operating system." Just those white letters on a black screen, nothing else. I have had the computer for about a year and a half, and have not recently loaded anything new onto it.
The only thing I have found I can do is press F2 when the Asus logo pops up and this takes me to BIOS setup utility.
When I turn on my computer it comes to verifying dmi pool data and after about 10 seconds it says error loading operating system. than i restart my computer and it boots normally. it happens over and over again.
I have been trying all day to dual boot using the tutorial and no success.
I have windows 7 install on my computer. I want to have windows xp.
Now I have shrink my hard drive so I have 2 partitions now. Ok the problem is When I boot xp I goto install on D:/ the new partition it then copies all the files to that hard drive all good so then it wants to restart which is normal.
Then When it reboots it will say error loading operating system or just nothing.
Then I cant even Run windows 7 I have to delete that partition on windows xp and then put windows 7 and repair startup and Im back on again. It has to do something with the boot loader or something because I reckon Its trying to do start windows 7 but there is xp trying to install it self. Im not sure but I think I have tried every idea.
So I tried installing Windows XP Professional alongside my existing Windows 7 Home Premium as a dual boot, but when my PC restarted following XP's text-based installation phase, I got the annoying "Error loading operating system error. I've tried:
- Using the Windows 7 Startup Recovery feature from the Windows 7 DVD, but it didn't work.
- Deleting the incomplete XP partition. That hasn't worked either.
- Using the Windows XP CD to enter Recovery Console and run fixmbr. Unfortunately it asks me to log into my Windows 7 installation using the Administrator password, which is wrong every time I enter it. So I can't do that either.
So I popped the top off my desktop, removed my wireless card and was checking to see if the card would fit in a PCI slot (it's a PCI-E and it does not). I then re installed it and started my computer up. I was prompted with a hard drive option (a Y/N option) of which I chose N. I don't know exactly what it was asking but I am trying to get it to re prompt the menu. This lead to me getting stuck at the Loading Operating System screen. I was able to boot to windows by manually booting via F12 to my 128gb SSD. This successfully booted to Windows. I noticed that the interface was a little buggy (The date was 3 years off and not all the icons were appearing). I re booted, was prompted with the same Y/N, Chose Y, and was still stuck at the Loading Operating System.I can boot manually to Windows using F12 but something feels wrong due to the date, ect.Is this a MOBO failure? The NIC Port of the MOBO recently died on me so I don't know if the MOBO itself is dying on me. The computer is less than a year old and was built by me.
i was on my computer surfing the internet when i got a BOSD and restarted my computer it kept happening when i was on the internet so i ran a chkdsk and mem testto see what it could they oth came out clean and i was stumped. i left my computer alone but after a few days i turned it on and decided to try plaing a game and it worked i played the game fora few hours and when i turned it off i was bombarded with messages from this program called win 7 home security that somehow turned off my windows defender 'i tried running a scan with my nod32 antivirus software but it came up clean. this program wouldnt let me go on the internet it kept saying i was unprotected and that it wld save my computeri tried to find a way to uninstall it and i looked for the directory that it was in but i couldn't. so i decided to restart my computer and go into safe mode but when i restarted my comuputer
my computer started laggin really bad, couldnt even move mouse without major lag. Anyways so i got sick of it and reinstalled windows 7 64 bit, now my computer gets stuck at loading operating system. Thought it was SSD so took it out and put in a 500gp wd hard drive (I know it works fine, becuase had it run on company server all week before i used it) so then i installed it on their and still was stuck so then i took out my other 500gb wd hard drive where i store all my files, just so i could make sure that my OS can only install on one item and not be corrupted by any other drives. So now the problem still presit and i have tried resetting my bios by taking out battery for 10 min, still no results, so then i ran startup repair (Had no hope) and it still didnt work. Need help and bellow I will post all my hardware, by the way my computer is a custom build and has been working fine for 2-3 months. Also I do overclock, but i doubt that had anything to do with it, because it started to lag weeks after i started overclocking. [code]
I left for work this morning, and my computer remained on as per normal. Nothing stressful left running only skype and a browser as far as I can remember. Come home and find that the screen won't move from being black. Restart and it loads up normal until it says "Loading Operating System..." It then moves to a black screen which after a few seconds fades out to an even darker black. Then nothing happens. I have/am trying to run the repair tool via CD boot of my Win7 disk but it is incredibly sluggish. I've been waiting to even see the repair tool for an hour each time before I get frustrated and retry. Also I cannot enter safe mode via spamming F8. It seems that my Win7 went rogue and decided to move out
The other day I assembled a new built PC and then went to go install the OS. I tried using a boot disk of Windows 7 Pro x64 but right after the POST it immediately goes to a screen where it says "Loading Operating System" and just hangs there. I have tried various fixes I have seen on other sites but can't get it it to move on.

This is my first post and wasn't sure which exact board to post to so I thought installation might be one. I have a windows 7 64bit machine installed on a 250gb hdd. Here is the exact sequence of events. Shutdown computer last night (it had been on for 2 days straight). Turned it on this morning, bios screen loads fine then it jumps to a black screen with the text "Loading Operating System..." and it hangs there. I tried multiple configurations to detect the problem. I feared for the life of my hdd. I unplugged my other 2 hdd and the dvd drive from power and sata and rebooted. Now I get "Loading Operating System..." BOOT DRIVE FAILED INSERT CD AND PRESS ENTER TO CONTINUE. Re-install any other drive combo and get the standard hang screen. I made no major changes to my setup in the last 2 days, no software, no windows update, no hardware changes whatsoever.
I'm using windows 7 home prem 64bit. This problem just happened today. I sign on with my password and the system says welcome, but won't actually login. It just hangs there. I used Avast to do a complete scan, but it didn't come up with anything. I used MS security essential it found a bunch of Java exploits and trojan downloader and I deleted them. But the problem is still there.
My windows 7 pc locked up so did a hard boot. Not it is hanging on the "starting windows" screen. In safe mode same thing, but can see the last driver listed before hanging is null.sys. I see the hard drive light continuing to flash after waiting 30 or so minutes no change.I've tried regular boot, last known good boot, safe mode, startup repair... they all hang.Any suggestions on getting this pc booted or what the issue is? Not sure if hard drive ran out of space due to some operation or maybe a virus or something else.
i recently purchased a new toshiba laptop with windows 7 64bit installed, which worked pretty well until i ran into a random crash a few days ago. i'm not sure why it happened, but at the time, i was running a Internet video and then i got a post on google talk. at that point, the computer froze on the sound and i wasn't able to use the mouse anymore. it acted like a stop error, even though no blue screen popped up or anything. it seems like it freezes like this when i leave the computer on for a long period of time or something. it's happened around three times, once with the google talk sound, and twice with the skype sound, and all three times Internet was opened.
anyway, ever since that initial crash, i've had a hard time starting up the computer. the first time, i attempted to run the task manager and click the "show processes from all users" button, however after clicking the button, the computer seems to hang at loading consent.exe, and the cpu was around 4% or so. i was also trying to load google chrome, but it wouldn't load either. after waiting about 5 minutes, i pressed ctrl-alt-delete, which then i got an error that the window couldn't load.the second time i tried running the task manager, i noticed that the networking and sharing center wouldn't work at all. i could run programs (that weren't internet browsers), as well as the control panel... but i couldn't open the networking and sharing window from either the control panel or the icon on the taskbar. consent.exe was hanging in this instance as well.
after those two times, i was able to get the computer working again and didn't have too many problems as long as the computer was on. ran into the problem again after successfully shutting down windows one night, then trying to turn it back on the next day. however, this was even more odd because explorer.exe crashed on its own, but i hadn't done anything since i turned the computer on. i also couldn't get the task manager open for some reason.today, after leaving the computer off since last night, i tried turning on the computer again, and once again the computer hanged on trying to load google chrome and the task manager. this time, the task manager wouldn't load, but the icon would appear in the taskbar (frozen. can't right click it or anything.) and skype was working. i made a comment on google talk, but that froze after i got a response.i was able to hit the shut down button in that instance, but after waiting 8 minutes, the windows logoff screen wouldn't show up, so i just shut it down and turned it on again.
I use Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. Firefox is filled with privacy tools including Privoxy, Ghostery and Disconnect. My other browsers do no have anything. I use Windows firewall, Avast Free and Full version of Malwarebytes with malicious web-site blocking turned off. I also use Spyware Blaster. I use Windows 7. I am behind Cisco router.
Problem: When I use facebook.com either https or http, after a certain period of times or page visits, the facebook stops loading and "hangs" on a page not going back or forward. I either have to wait, or close it and open another browser. This has been going on for quite some time. I tried clearing everything with CCleaner, flushed DNS, Etc. When I ping, I get all 4 responses.
I'm new here.I couldnt find any solution for my problem anywhere and i thought i can find it here.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit and im trying to install it for about 6 months. I installed it once but after one week,os is gone and stuck at classpnp.sys
Here are the steps i followed when trying to install; Selected Boot Menu > CD/DVD
Seen windows is loading files. Seen Starting windows but its gone before the 4 colored windows logo comes.
And endless black screen. I also tried to boot from dvd in safe mode.It hangs at disk.sys I checked rams. I have 1 gb x 2 rams. There is blue and brown sockets for rams on my motherboard.
Both of rams connected to blue ones. When i disconnect one of them pc opens but same issue. When i disconnect one of them and connect it to brown socket pc didnt opened.
Computer Stats: 2009 Macbook Pro running Windows 7 Ultimate x32 via boot camp, all drivers up to date as of last night, no non-factory parts or tampering with any system files. Issue: Around a month ago, I noticed my laptop freeze up whenever I left it unattended for more than half an hour. Sometimes it would lag for 30 seconds or so and then be fine, sometimes I would have to reboot entirely. This happened again two days ago and upon rebooting it became stuck during the animation at the "windows loading" screen. I restarted and used F8 to pull up the advanced boot menu, chose "system repair", and it went through two loading screens before presenting a black screen of death that never seems to change. Booting in safe mode works, which I've used to scour the internet for fixes and ways to get incredibly drunk. Attempted Fixes: A full system virus scan (duration: 13 hours) with Kaspersky, Malware Bytes, and Panda. Nothing was returned save a few false-positives from torrents (only trusted trackers, nothing dodgy file-wise). Used the "repair my computer" option at F8'd start-up multiple times to no avail. Used "sfc/scannow" twice, which downloaded some windows updates but didn't fix anything. Yelled really loudly at computer and raised my hand as if to smack it, intimidating it into submission but not fixing core issue.
Here is the result of my bootlog, but before that I'll note that it hangs on "Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS" for about thirty seconds when loading in safe mode. I thought that might have been the root and downloaded another copy of classpnp.sys, but again it didn't change anything:
Quote: Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS Did not load driver @hal.inf,%acpiapic.devicedesc%;ACPI x86-based PC Did not load driver @battery.inf,%*compbatt.devicedesc%;Microsoft Composite Battery Did not load driver @battery.inf,%*compbatt.devicedesc%;Microsoft Composite Battery
[Code].....
edit: I made a system recovery disk and attempted to use both its automatic fix feature and its "detect memory problems" feature. Both came back completely fine. Nothing has changed.
edit: Startup Repair has verified that the root cause is a driver. However, I've no idea which one. Surely that's contained somewhere in the bootlog.
One particular site that is not loading at all, on any browsers on my computer is [URL]. There are many more that fail to load as well. I did test these sites on my iPhone with no problems though. There are a handful of other sites that do open but do not load properly [missing images, ect.] I also thought that it might be malware but I installed & scanned my computer with four different programs which did not solve the problem. I'm guessing that it still may be some problem on the software side with settings but I can't seem to figure out where to look. BTW, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus program for the past couple of days now. Prior to that I was using Avira but it seemed to be giving me problems so I uninstalled it and installed the Microsoft app.
I have a freshly built computer. All new internal parts (HD, DVD drive, MoBo, video card, processor, PSU, RAM and case). Here is a list of all the parts that are in it:Newegg.com - Once You Know, You NeweggI also have a fresh copy of Windows 7 OEM.All parts are plugged in properly, and bios set up correctly (as far as I can tell). The only bios that aren't at default that I can remember off the top of my head was that I disabled the floppy section (don't have one), I raised the clock speed of my CPU to 2.8 (up from 2.66), and I enabled my CPU to raise 9-11% capacity under heavy loads.verything saved properly, and my CPU runs at roughly 35 degrees C. Not nearly as cool as my old rig but not that bad. The default settings had it running half a degree cooler.
Opened up the 7 case, popped it in, booted from CD-ROM, and a black screen comes up and says "Windows is loading files..." A bar fills up really fast, and after it finishes it resets and starts filling up again, much slower. Once this bar fills up however, the computer hangs and sits there. I've let it sit for over 10 minutes with no change. The only notable thing that happens is about 30 seconds after it fills the bar the DVD drive has some activity, and then it goes silent for the rest of the time.
I have sony vaio laptop and i was running windows vista on it. I did a partition and dual boot the system with ubuntu 10.4. Then i download easybcd tool to set windows vista as a default OS to boot with, but accidently in easybcd software i unistalled vista boot loader. now when i reboot the system ubuntu works fine but when i try to load vista its says NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt and Delete to restart. Then tried to boot from cdrom because i have a fresh copy of Windows 7. the system doesnt boot from cdrom. So now i am stuck with ubuntu on my system.
I have one hard disk 150GB on my computer. I want to install Windows 7 and divide the drive into two partitions. When I did it using the instructions that I had during setup, Windows 7 load only with the system drive! Where did all the other memory gone? Can I return the lost memory without installing again Windows 7?
My system pass POST flashes the Windows scroll across the bottom and then stops loading. Waits exactly +/- 8 Min, then finishes loading. Tried everything.
Just after booting-up my system is prompting me that two dll files are not loading. I have investigated the necessity of the dll files and they have no relevance to the OS or anything I am using. How would I stop the system from attempting to load these files?
System hangs after installations like Windows 7 update, tune up utilities, new hardwares(data cards) etc which requires windows restart.windows hangs and blue screen appears after several minutes.Pls help. [code]
My computer during system restore was turned off and keeps saying loading files what can I do to reset it to factory I did the f8 and the zero ideas already.
I've recently built a new system from scratch, I can verify all the connectors are plugged in correctly and powered. Today I went out and bought a small internal 24x dvd drive to install my copy of windows 7 home premium OEM with and this is where my problems began. Whenever I set the dvd drive as the first boot option and put the OEM disc inside it, the screen stays black and does a Windows is Loading files bar across my screen I believe twice at varying speeds then disappears and leaves me with nothing but a black screen. I've waited and have it still sitting there blank at this very moment. I have done a lot of googling and only seen one other person with this same issue have his problem solved by resetting his BIOS to default. Needless to say this didn't work. I've tried changing all the storage settings from AHCI to IDE to RAID and disabling/enabling some setting in each with no luck. Below are the system specs.
Motherboard: ASrock gen3 extreme3 Z68 chipset CPU: i5 2500k 3.30Ghz GPU: AMD Radeon 6950 came factory set to 870 Mhz core clock (overclocked from 800) RAM: 4x4 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 Mhz (I've also checked to make sure the proper voltage and frequency was used on these in the BIOS) SSD: OCZ Agility 3 120GB PSU: Coolermaster 1000W Optical Drive: 24x Multiformat DVD/CD Writer with the obvious Sata connections to hook up to my mobo
This is my first pc build and I assume that asrock mobo's version of BIOS is UEFI.
Edit : I've tried removing 3 of my RAM sticks and now it just freezes with the grey bar fully loaded on Windows is Loading files. I then tried loading my old windows XP CD and it was working until it hit a BSOD which occurs consistently if I try to load XP. On more attempts at loading windows 7 it gets past the grey bar stage to the black screen not loading anything stage again.
