Processes Not Loading Properly On Startup?

Apr 24, 2012

SOMETIMES when i startup the computer, all of the processes don't load( I checked the task manager). When the computer starts in this way, it kinda freezes and not much works until the rest of the processes load. ( i need 47 or so to start properly. when i am having trouble, only 37 load). And when they finally do load, Internet is super duper slow. Also not much else is fast at all. But, if at this point i restart the computer, and IF the processes load properly(all 47 or so) I have no issues. The computer is really fast and does as it should.

Certain Sites Not Loading Or Not Loading Properly

Aug 10, 2011

One particular site that is not loading at all, on any browsers on my computer is [URL]. There are many more that fail to load as well. I did test these sites on my iPhone with no problems though. There are a handful of other sites that do open but do not load properly [missing images, ect.] I also thought that it might be malware but I installed & scanned my computer with four different programs which did not solve the problem. I'm guessing that it still may be some problem on the software side with settings but I can't seem to figure out where to look. BTW, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus program for the past couple of days now. Prior to that I was using Avira but it seemed to be giving me problems so I uninstalled it and installed the Microsoft app.

Windows 7 Won't Startup Properly - Stuck In Startup Repair Loop

Feb 18, 2012

I have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').

I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.

Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?

Websites Aren't Displaying/loading Properly

The last few days when I've been viewing websites on any browser (IE, FF, Chrome, Opera), they haven't been loading or displaying properly. Sometimes they're fine but frequently, pages aren't loading entirely, displaying html code. Images are distorted, blurred or looks wrong. Sometimes refreshing the page loads everything and sometimes it doesn't help. Here are some examples.

Computer Does Startup Repair If Not Shutdown Properly

Dec 1, 2011

Anyway, anytime my Sony Vaio computer isn't shut down properly, or the screen times out due to inactivity, it will show a screen that says "windows is loading files" and then proceeds to do a start up repair in which it will try to restore my device to a previous setting (or something like that). When i first got this computer, as with my previous HP, I could close the lid..no harm no foul. After having this one for a month it started doing this out of nowhere.

Startup Isn't Booting Properly After BIOS Update

Nov 14, 2011

i went to update my BIOS after one of my games(call of duty: Black ops) was lagging badly and i did everything to reduce lag even though my computer could run it on high settings. BTW the lag was gone after i upgraded BIOS for the game i mentioned above. So a friend suggested that i update the BIOS. i did and then after restart my computer would freeze but when i unplug a usb device from 2 ports grouped together it booted. Today i got the boot until i remove a USB device but now i get crashes in games. it also decided to install printer drivers...again even though the printer has been working fine since the day i installed windows 7 x64 months ago. My version is not a beta or a RC its a full version fully updated with some minor tweaks like UAC turned off but nothing major that would cause startup to fail.i know i dont have a virus or a rootkit. Thats the first thing i checked. This didnt happen till after i updated the BIOS. so here is what i have done so far:Startup repair twice(i chose the recommended option).....neither time it worked it just reverted it back two days.did a antivirus, rootkit, spyware,etc... scan found only small stuff that wouldnt cause this much problems. in other words small stuff that i got rid of easily that is fairly common such as data miners and tracking cookies.also ran combofix....didnt find anything.next did a scan using Advanced windos Care 2 didnt find anything wrong with the disk or anything else.also ran chkdsk also didnt find anything.i ran out of options of stuff to do. i dont mind re-installed windows 7 but kind of want to use that as a last resort.

Startup Repair Not Even Loading

Jan 10, 2013

So I opened my laptop this morning, tried to log in and was stuck on the welcome screen for about 10 minutes. I restarted using the power button and when restarting it said "loading files" then went to a black screen. I restarted again and it gave me the option to select a safe mode or startup normally. I selected safe mode and I was stuck on the startup bit with the windows logo for 10 minutes and then it went back to the selection screen this time with the options being startup repair and launch windows normally. I selected startup repair and it went to a black screen for 10 minutes, then went to a screen like the login screen background but grey. It wasn't frozen and I could still move the mouse so I could tell it was loading and I waited >20 minutes and it didn't change. I restarted and did the same thing multiple times.

Icons Loading At Startup?

Dec 13, 2012

Despite the quick boot that I get with my SSD i am unable to begin using my PC immediately after the boot completes. When the desktop appears I see all the icons fully loaded, but then they suddenly become white files and will slowly load back for about 10-15 seconds. During this time I am unable to click on any of the icons and use the programs. Most of them are shortcuts, is the OS reconnecting the file paths? It's obviously not that bad, but it is a tad inconvenient. Will reducing the number of shortcuts on my desktop reduce this, and are there any other fixes?

BSOD At Loading Desktop After Startup - Alternate Errors 0x000000E And 0x000000A

Apr 26, 2012

Windows boots fine and loads the log-in screen, but usually seconds after starting to load the desktop, she gets a BSOD and the system restarts. The errors alternate between 0x000000E, 0x000000 50 and 0x000000A from what I've observed. Performance Monitor won't generate a report, giving the error "The system cannot find the path specified." Windows 7 On Dell XPS L401X Blue Screened, Startup Repair Not Loading?

May 24, 2012

I am trying to sell my Dell XPS L401X (XPS 14) that I bought in December of 2010 but I have encountered a serious problem with it. I loaded the computer from factory settings as it had blue screen and refused to start up without startup repair and dell datasafe backup or w/e that program is called. I loaded it up, installed Google Chrome, cleared my history on IE, downloaded MSE, the latest nvidia drivers and java 7 64 and deleted all those and emptied the recycle bin once done installing those. I shut down the computer to install updates and get a blue screen as soon as it passes the startup screen. Every time I attempt to launch using startup repair it just opens up another window with a black screen and the option of startup repair and normal repair, never actually going to startup repair, just continually refreshing every time I select startup repair.

Slow Cold Boot - Only Catalyst Control Center Loading Up As Startup Item

Feb 9, 2011

I have installed windows 7 on my computer about a year ago. I've never had any problems to the point where I would need to reinstall the OS, however, I've noticed that on cold boots the system runs painfully slow, it will boot up fairly fast on a normal restart tho, like 20-35 seconds. On a cold boot it can take about 1-2 minutes to load in windows, and then once that happens its not so much it going slow as that there is a point during which I cannot click anything or else it will take forever to accomplish.

What I mean by this is, it will load to my desktop and for a period of about 3 more minutes I will try to right click on the desktop and it will do the circle thing for like 20 seconds before giving me the drop down menu. If I right click again right after, it shows up instantly. Same with trying to open up a file within those first couple of minutes. It will take like 45 seconds to open a picture. I have tweaked my windows 7 to startup only necessary drivers and turned off search index along with Aero.

My HDD isn't fragmented and I've got about 120gbs out of 450 available. So its not that bad. Now some of you may say, well its just loading the processes. But I only have catalyst control center loading up as a startup item. And even after it loads. It goes through a wierd 3-4 minute phase in which everything is slow as hell. Then works perfectly fine.

Startup Would Show The "not Shut Down Properly"?

Jan 13, 2011

I have a HP 5320m notebook, that came with a normal HDD and W764 Pro. I wanted a SSD and bought the same OCZ Vertex 2, 120G that I use for my desktop. I made a new install with the DVD of the OS that came with the notebook. Everything worked fine until a couple of days ago. When I shut down the computer, the next startup would show the "not shut down properly" screen and the option with safe mode and everything, but booting afterwards is easy. But the crazy thing is that all files or settings are lost, when you have an improper shut-down, directories that I had created on the desktop, had just vanished. The problem does not exist when you do a direct "restart" from the Shut-Down menu.Well I tried a system restore to an earlier point and I got some strange error about the antivirus program. Anyway the restore worked in Safe-mode and everything was good again.Well, after a few days it appeared again so I suspected it must be an update that I had installed.

I became tired and started a new clean install from DVD. Started Installation from USB-DVD, deleted all drives, combined and formatted it (quick, as supposed for SSD) and installed the Windows 7 again. Worked fine. Then I shut the PC down, and started it up again. Guess what... yes the "not shut down properly" screen came again. I was pissed, but only for 4 seconds. Because after those, I was puzzled. The computer started up to my OLD system. Everything was there, all files, all settings, even the Desktop background, the password for the WLAN. It was like I had never performed a clean install..

Scheduling Processes On OS?

Aug 9, 2011

I'm familiar with the fact that the processor is actually shared among many processes on every OS. That means that every process is actually running a portion of the time on the processor before it is paused and scheduled for later. If that is the case why for example when you play music or video on PC isn't the sound dicontinuous - it should be if it's played just a portion of the time? Or is the period between process switches so small that people don't even notice when it stops and starts again?

What Processes Or Services Run On Port 80

Feb 24, 2012

what processes or services run on Port 80. I am trying to run XAMPP Apache virtual web server and Apache fails to start because a system process is listening on port 80. Apache needs to run on port 80. I had "thought" i fixed the error when I ended the service "web deployment agent service" (after realizing it runs on port 80), after doing this, apache started up just fine no problems. I restarted my computer, and sure enough, apache wouldn't run again. typing "netstat -aon" in a command prompt, sure enough again, port 80 was occupied by a process with a PID of 4...again. I open task manager, and the process descript is again, NT kernal and system process. I try ending the process form the task manager, and it will not stop.I have double checked services.msc and web deployment agent service is deactivated and not running. because of this i am perplexed as to what additional services would use port 80 just after a re boot.
