Just recovered my pc back to factor image using dell datasafe. When the computer restarts now I get the message setting up for first use and then i brings me to the log in screen. There are no accounts to use and the administrator account is disabled.
Kids were playing on the computer and somehow managed to change the password. I have no idea where the disc is to fix this. Is there a way I can do a system restore? Will that reset it or is a system restore only done when logged in?
My harddisk has bitlocker and I know the password but not the recovery key.I didn't save the recovery key because I know the password. My computer was clean and has a new windows 7. I don't know if is because of that!
i had locked my pen drive with bitlocker...but unfortunately i forgot my password and recovery was deleted as well...i dont need the data inside the pen drive....i just want the pen drive to be usable...
I have windows 7 prof desktop runing which was being by an user who left the company without giving password. Now i want to try to recover password .I tried ophcrack tool but it was struck. I tried with someother tools which was trial version and after reading it says buy original version.is there a wany i can recover the user password?. Even from safe mode command prompt, it prompts me password. So i am struck here.
I'm working on a Windows 7 laptop for which the user has forgotten the password. So, putting my windows 7 DVD in, I boot into System Recovery and go to a command window. I try to change the user password for "User X" as it displays at login, and the system kindly informs me "User X" doesn't exist.
Using net user, I see that the only two users that exist are "Administrator" and "Guest". So, I activate administrator using "net user administrator /activate:yes". Then I change the password of administrator.
Rebooting into safe mode, I find "User X" and "Guest" still my only options. I try the password I set for administrator (since User X doesn't exist), but that doesn't work.
i cannot get to control panel to change or set my password... i let my son use it and he changed it by not knowing what he was doing and now im locked out and cannot get pass the sign in

how to perform a safe manual restore from the Dell Factory Image Partition. The problem is that i dont have the inbuilt option in the RECOERY MENU OPTIONS PAGE because i performed a fresh install of Windows 7 using the Resource DVD that shipped with the system The recovery partition is intact as the Fresh Install worked only upon the OS partition C:. The contents of the Recovery partition are visible in Command Prompt. In the Explorer it contains the following:
1. Recovery(Folder) 2. Info(Application)
Clicking on the "Info" opens a screen pop up which says: "Warning, This is dell recovery partition. Its contents must not be altered." The contents of the Recovery folder are hidden in the command prompt, but using dir /ah I can see the contents and it contains some of these folders and files as i am seeing it right now:
1. Autorun.inf 2. Desktop.ini 3. info.exe 4. A long list of "Protected.arabic" and like files 5. system 32 (dir) 6. windowsre (dir)
How can i restore the Factory image? After reading a lot of pages in different forums, i feel that it is possible to do a manual restore from this Recovery Partition.
I have a dell mini 1018 which got dropped and now has HDD issues. This happened in july 2012. I tried recovering my files and it didn't work. SO i put it in the cupboard and was going to send it away to recover my files but since it was a hardware fault the thought of 300 for physical recovery made me a little sick.Anyway, thought i'd give it another go and luckly i have managed to recover all my files. I dont care about my programs as it was fairly new and not much on there. The netbook contains 1 HDD with 2 PartitionsThe netbook doesn't have a cd/dvd drive and instead uses a recovery partition. I have brought the exact same HDD and am trying to image the drive but i am getting CRC errors. My question is if i manage to image both the partitions and the recovery partition has no CRC erros then i should be able to use the recovery to reset back to factory settings on the new HDD ?Im using DriveImageXML to backup each partition but how would i loading them onto the new HDD, would i have to partition the drive first ? i guess it would have to match the same setup as the original.
